Holy heck, this book was so extremely fast paced. Stay Awake is the true definition of getting a thrill from reading these triple shot espresso dipped chapters. There was never a dull moment in this story. I had several theories that kept changing while I was reading this and when I was convinced I had it all figured out, I was 100% wrong. I would compare this to Fifty First Dates but imagine Adam Sandler is a sociopath and poor Drew Barrymore has no idea… because well you know. 🧠 🕳 🤷🏼♀️ My only letdown from this was the way it all played out. I felt like I needed more understanding around the “why”. I did enjoy reading this one though and I do recommend it for anyone that is looking for something that gets your heart racing.
Megan Goldin has done it again! I love a good book where the main character cannot retain memory and I was hooked from the very beginning!
A slick, tightly plotted thriller with the tantalizing essence of a mystery. Readers will be holding their breaths until the end.
Man, what a fast-paced, incredible thriller! I kept turning the page to find out what would happen next, almost in real-time with Liv as we learn the details of the murder. Reminds me of Memento in a good way. If you're a fan of Danielle Girard, this is right up your alley!
This is Megan Goldin’s best book yet! I had no idea who the murderer was until I was 90% in when Goldin led me there. I loved the past and present timelines, the repetition of Liv waking up and reading messages on her hands/being confused, and the double mystery element that isn’t revealed until later. A couple of the lines were a bit cheesy for my taste but overall I really enjoyed this novel!
4.5/5
Kept me guessing the whole time as to what was going on exactly! Some suspension of disbelief for the plot but otherwise a solid thriller. I really liked Megan’s first book and am glad this one was just as enjoyable to read. She will definitely be an author I look forward to reading again in the future! Thanks to the publisher and netgalley for a copy of the book in exchange for my honest review!
Loved this newest book Megan Goldin. Such a fast paced and tense thriller. While somewhat unbelievable, it still made for a chilling read, one I definitely do not recommend you read in your house alone at night. I loved the different timelines and the back and forth between multiple character's. Definitely a must for your August tbr pile!

Wow, just wow. Stay Awake is a must read for those of us who read Thrillers as a preference. It is unlike any one i have ever read and I’ve read lots of them. It’s the story of Liv who suffers from a psychiatric condition that has her mind forgetting everything from the last two years, every time she sleeps. You could say a ground hog day, but not a comedy. The book toggles back and forth between the present and two years earlier when her boyfriend and roommate were murdered..I spent the book not certain she didn’t commit the murders. You will be suspicious of everyone, even the law enforcement. I highly recommend it. #netgalley #stayawake #megangoldin
this book was fast-paced, thrilling, and has amazing short chapters. We follow Liv and she wakes up with a bloody knife in her pocket not knowing where she is, where it came from, etc. We also follow detectives and I don't care for detective povs but this was well done. I 100% recommend this. I might have missed it but I don't understand the motives of the killer. Nonetheless, it was still good and I think it would make a good book club pick.
What would you do if you lost time every time you slept? What if you kept losing years? Do you remember who to trust?
This story is very interesting and I couldn’t put it down. Every time the MC would fall asleep, she would start over. Follow her through this journey and see everything that happens to her. You won’t regret the journey but be prepared to get frustrated on her behalf, and yours as the reader who knows what’s going on.
It took me awhile to get into this book. I felt like the first 2/3 of it dragged and repeated a lot of the same information and then the last 1/3 flew and wrapped things up inefficiently. I don’t really understand the driving force behind the murderer’s actions. Why mess with Liv so long beforehand? It also drove me crazy that every time it switched to the detectives, it repeated their full names over and over. I also felt like that storyline did not mesh with the whole story. Overall, it was a lackluster read for me.
Thank you to Net Galley for providing me an early copy of Stay Awake. I was really excited to read this one but sadly it wasn't what I was hoping for. Yes it was still good but I felt like this one dragged on quite a bit and could have been way shorter. I felt many parts were repetitive, yeah yeah we knew about her weird memory blackouts but I think being told that over and over again could have been shortened (we know this already) and the story could have came to a conclusion a lot quicker. It still had a good concept to the story and also trying to figure out whether she really killed certain people or not but I still give it a average rating and say it was your average thriller.
Absolutely loved! Reading this book was like reading a movie. I felt so invested into what was happening next, the dual POVs were both interesting and I couldn’t stop reading. Thank you for the ARC of Stay Awake! Will be recommending to all the thriller lovers out there!
First off thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for granting me a digital ARC in exchange for an honest review.
What would you do if every time you fell asleep you forgot everything about the last two years of your life? Who would you trust? How could you stay awake?
Liv Reese has a memory block that makes her vulnerable for danger but also the prime suspect for three brutal murders. Darcy Halliday is a up and coming homicide detective who wants the full story.
Stay Awake follows Liv and Halliday as they wake up to the real events and truths of who is behind it all.
Megan Goldin’s next hit! Loved the multiple POVs and a twist I didn’t see coming. Can’t wait to see what she writes next.
Oh no. I really though I was going to like this one. I like the previous books but the ending fell short for me.
What an interesting premise, when you fall alseep you lose your memory for the last two years due to a traumatic event. So, what if that event puts you in danger? When you do fall alseep and then wake up, how do you know who it is you are supposed to trust? The suspense builds as events are revealed. The only question I have that I wished was answered (although I can guess) is what was the motive behind the initial crime? Fans of fast-paced suspense/thrillers will enjoy Megan Goldin's new release. Aug 2022
I really enjoyed Stay Awake! The only thing I didn’t like is there was never a WHY Brett did it. I know we can all assume it was because Amy and Marco were sleeping together and Brett was obsessed and loved Amy but still wish we got a why from him and more about it, there was nothing and that’s weird!
I also feel like the Q part could of been left out. Overall this was an excellent written book and I will definitely be putting Megan Goldin as an auto buy author. Thank you for my Arc Copy Netgalley!
When Liv wakes up in Washington Square Park with a bloody knife wrapped in a tshirt, she is confused and disoriented. She tries to get into her apartment, she discovers that it’s two years in the future and she has no clue what her life has become. As reports unfold of a man murdered in an apartment with the words WAKE UP! written in blood on the window, Liv becomes the top suspect in his murder, and secrets begin to unfold as to other connections she might have. She realizes she must stay awake in order to get answers, otherwise her memory is erased when she wakes up.
