Thank you St. Martins Press and Megan Goldin for an advanced copy of Stay Awake. Megan Goldin is an expert in writing about thrillers and this book does not disappoint. The story is about Liz a character who wakes up from a coma after two years and cant figure out why she cant contact her roommate Amy. Liz wakes up with writing on her had that says stay awake. I would recommend this book to people who like to read fast paced thrillers.
A crazy thriller about a woman who can’t remember her past every time she falls asleep. With writings all over her arms, with reminders, every time she wakes up, she’s 2 years in the past, forgetting major life altering events. The book starts with Liv up with a bloody knife and not remembering what happened. The book follows Liv’s story past and present along with the detective to figure out what happened, did she murder, and why she can’t remember. Twists until the very end! I would recommend this!
If you like psychological thrillers this one does not disappoint! It’s fast paced and once you start you can’t put it down. This book starts out when Liv Reese wakes up in the backseat of a taxi cab with no memory of how she got there. There is a bloody knife in her shirt and she discovers that she doesn’t remember anything from the past 2 years. As she is accused of murder she tries to piece together what is going on as clues are slowly revealed from her past life. The book is a wild ride and you never know where it’s going.. I especially liked Halliday’s character and her chemistry with Lavelle. There were a bit of plot holes and I did want a bit more info on motives at the end, but overall I enjoyed the ride the book took me on. it was fun, creative and entertaining. I was excited to read this after Night Swim and this did not disappoint.
Thanks to Net Galley and the Publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Megan Goldin never disappoints! I’ve read all of her books & each time she weaves a tale of great suspense. In this case, I enjoyed the twisted story more so than the end, I feel like she left an open end with the artist Q and Liv’s review that led to his career’s demise, I also feel as if more could have been explored with Cultura & both Ted’s and Liv’s connections there. I thought the jilted lover story with Brett was a bit far-fetched, given that the murders he was attempting to cover up took place two years in the past. Overall, a fun, suspenseful thriller-just wish there was a little more meat to the story.
Liv Reese wakes up in the back of a taxi with going back to her apartment. When she gets there, she finds out two years have passed and she does not know where the years went. Her hands covered with words saying Stay awake.
The story was fast moving, and I was not sure what was going on at first. The going back and forth was a little confusing. I got a little lost. It did pick up and I was starting to figure things out - which turned out to be wrong,
The writing was good, and it kept me entertained. Thank you, Net Galley, for an advanced copy for an honest review.
My first Net Galley book and I loved it. Liv Reece wakes up in the back of a taxi with no memory of how she got there. Her hands are covered in messages like “Stay Awake” and “Don’t Trust Anyone” and she has a bloody knife in her pocket. She quickly learns 2 years have passed which she has no recollection of, but she thinks she may be guilty of murder.
I really enjoyed it. I figured out the killer but was super interested in seeing how I played out. Had a strong Memento vibe that I loved. And I would love more books featuring Detective Halliday.

✨This is a mystery/thriller in 2 different times and povs. I really liked the author’s writing style. I wouldn’t say it was fast-paced but more of a mystery/thriller you need to think about while reading. I think the synopsis is really interesting since it is something I have never read but while reading this book it reminded me of a stranger in the house by Shari Lapena which I enjoyed reading. I would highly recommend to my mystery/thriller gals who wants to read a different type of mystery/thriller.

Exciting! Addictive! Thrilling! Suspenseful! This novel pulled me ALL the way in, immediately. Everything you could want in a thriller drama!
*I received a complimentary ARC of this book in order to read and provide a voluntary, unbiased and honest review, should I choose to do so.
This book did not disappoint! I love a book that can get me interested quickly - Stay Awake had my interest from the first page! The whole book kept me interested. I loved the different time line slowly piecing together the puzzle. Appropriately I did stay awake late finishing this book because I couldn’t put it down. I’ve read the author’s books Night Swim and Escape Room. I liked both but Stay Awake was even better. I’ll definitely be eagerly awaiting her next book! She’s quickly becoming a favorite author.
I received an ARC from netgalley. Thanks netgalley!
I find fugue states fascinating, so I was thrilled to have the chance to review this book from Megan Goldin. I have read her other 2 novels, Behind the Red Door as well as the Escape room. Goldin writes a tightly woven mystery with characters that are different from the mainstream "bad guys". I did figure out who done it quite early on but it was still a worthwhile read.
Thank you to St. Martin's Press and Net Galley for the advance copy.
This was a phenomenal psychological thriller! Having such an unreliable narrator was amazing!!
I definitely didn’t expect the killer to be who they were.
Overall will definitely be recommending and sending this book to friends once it is released!
Falling asleep means amnesia for the main character, but she has to sleep sometime, right? I cared about her from the very first chapter and at times wanted to reach through the book, shake her, and say, "No! You have to stay awake!" The plot twists just kept coming, and by the time I go to the end, my head was swimming. The villain almost revealed themselves at one point, but I thought, "No. No way. That's too easy." That's not to say the author took the easy way out of solving this mystery. Quite the opposite! Reading this book was a fun thrill ride that kept me awake as I read past my bedtime on more than one night until I reached the gripping final plot twist. I would definitely recommend this to everyone who likes thrilling mysteries.
Yes, yes and YES!!
What is, should we be allowed to drink vodka at work?
Also yes, but let's give a round of applause for Megan Goldin's latest book! 👏
I waited 42 months for this Netgalley approval, but it was worth the wait!
Thank you @netgalley, @stmartinspress and @megangoldinauthor for this eARC.
This was a wild ride! A fast paced, jam packed read that had me up before dawn this morning to finish it. Now, that's a good book.
I really enjoyed Night Swim and now with this latest read Goldin has officially become an auto-buy author for me.
I found this storyline super interesting. I kept getting 50 First Dates vibes which is strange considering the stories are completely different, but I have issues.

I thought all were done incredibly well. Not sure I loved the ending, but I really don't care. It was still a great book!
This book was very thrilling. It kept me hooked from the beginning. This book has unnecessary fatphobic comments and political comments. I would edit them out.
It's official - I love this author. This was such a great thriller, and I absolutely loved the slow-build suspense. This author is pretty masterful in her writing - and I can't wait to read many more from her!
Thank you netgalley & publisher for my e arc copy of Stay Awake by Megan Goldin.
Stay awake is a fast paced murder mystery that had a lot of suspense and twist.
Summary: Liv Reese wakes up in the back of a taxi with no idea where she is or how she got there. When she’s dropped off at the door of her brownstone, a stranger answers―a stranger who now lives in her apartment and forces her out in the cold. She reaches for her phone to call for help, only to discover it’s missing, and in its place is a bloodstained knife. That’s when she sees that her hands are covered in black pen, scribbled messages like graffiti on her skin: STAY AWAKE. Liv finds herself on the run for a crime she doesn’t remember committing as she tries to piece together the fragments of her life. But there’s someone who does know exactly what she did, and they’ll do anything to make her forget―permanently. Stay Awake will keep you up all night.
This novel is a good mix of thriller, suspense, and crime mystery.
I really enjoyed this book! It was hard to put down and kept me guessing! I highly recommend it if you are looking for an engaging book to read that is full of suspense.
This book was such a wild ride it had me doubting my own mind. Twists, turns, and an unwillingly unreliable narrator make for quite the mental maze to work through. The concept of not being able to trust your own memory in any way is so disconcerting!
When Liv Reese wakes up, she’s in the back of a cab with no memory of how she got there or where she’s going. When she arrives home, she finds herself locked out - and then two strangers answer the door and inform her they’ve been living there for years.
Confused, disoriented, and alone, Liv attempts to call for help - but instead of her phone, she finds a bloodstained knife.
As night turns to day, Liv realizes that nothing is as she last remembered - not only is it a different season from her last memory; it’s also a different year. Two years later, in fact - and nothing about her life is the same.
On top of trying to discover why her memory is missing, Liv is also desperate to unravel the messages she’s left for herself across her skin - messages urging her to trust no one and, above all else, stay awake.
Where has the time gone? How did Liv get here? And why has the same message she’s scrawled across her hands appear at the murder scene of a man she has no memory of?
This is a hard 3 for me to give because I enjoyed this book and it kept me reading on, but the execution just felt messy. The science behind Liv’s condition didn’t quite make sense: what brought on her extreme issues “five weeks earlier” considering she’s explained to have had insomnia in the 2+ years since her trauma. I enjoyed the side plot about the detectives but it also felt underdeveloped and unnecessary unless this is the beginning of a series. Perhaps most frustrating, however, is that we never find out who/why Liv was being stalked before the murders. Maybe I missed something here but it seems unlikely the end killer would’ve been throwing Liv off. We get a whole explanation that someone was paid to do these things but then it’s dropped as the detectives chase other leads.
I’ll definitely tune in for Goldin’s next novel, but this one leaves me unsatisfied. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This book will keep you wide awake, I promise! There is a lot of activity from the first chapter and the two different storylines from current day to 2 years ago. This format keeps you guessing as 2 different plots unfold. Not going to give much away here other than to say- what a cool premise and while not a shocking ending, a satisfactory one!
