It gave very CoHo vibes and though I started this thinking it a thriller, it was more of a cross between women's fiction and romance with a stalker-ish suspense plot. Molly and Jake experience first great love and an amazing relationship in their 20's as an amateur writer and upcoming rock band star. But with time and circumstances, they fall apart and meet after years in the same suburb community with their new families. But can it really be a coincidence that they literally ended up in same town with same set of friends?

Molly is now with Hunter and their cute daughter. Jake is recently married to Sabrina who is not all she says she is. Why is she obsessed with Molly and what is her agenda for coming to this town? Sabrina has definitely taken a page from our favorite stalker from "You" series - Joe Goldberg. My only thought to Molly while reading this one was - Please don't cheat on your husband however your circumstances be, this is because I hate plots involving cheating by main characters. Can Molly and Jake forget their first great love and move on forms the crux of the plot. This was an emotional read involving jealousy, heartbreak, great love, family love, friendship all woven together beautifully.

Molly and Jake have a once in a lifetime love. They are young and he is in an up and coming rock band. Once Jake's band becomes famous, their romance is a casualty of his fame.
Years later Molly is happily married with a small child. She runs into Jake in an unlikely place and their old feelings come back like it was yesterday.
Jake's live in girlfriend seems to really like Molly and befriends her but is it too good to be true ?
I liked this book although it did kind of drag on a bit. I liked the Author's writing style.
Thank you to NetGalley, the Author and the Publisher for a copy of this book for review.

Loverling sure knows how to write a tumultuous relationship and really hit the reader right in the feels.
I loved this book, but I’m torn about the ending. I guess I understand, but it’s not how I’d have liked to see it go. This book definitely makes you think: what’s important, what makes a lasting love, what sacrifices are worth it, what would you change if you could? I would have answered some of these questions differently than Molly did, but I suppose that makes for a good, thoughtful read.
I liked the duel narration/timelines in Can’t Look Away and it had just enough suspense to make it a real page-turner even though it’s more of an emotional drama than a thriller. I just feel like Loverling really captures characters in such detail that I truly feel like I know them. I felt like I was right in the thick of these relationships with them, which makes any ending hard to swallow- I know these people now, I want more.
I’d definitely recommend this book to anyone trying to find their passion or follow their dreams and fans of relationship/small town/family drama.

Can’t Look Away is advertised by its author as a "romantic suspense" novel that focuses on three primary characters: aspiring writer Molly, famous musician Jake, and obsessively jealous Sabrina. Over the span of ten years, we see through each character’s eyes how their lives have dramatically intertwined with one another’s, including all resulting deep rifts of deceit that each one digs themselves, and their loved ones, into.

When I first came across this book on GoodReads, it was listed as a romantic mystery/thriller, which seemed rather intriguing, especially after having read its blurb. However, as I read it, I found myself bored. I felt like I had read this story before (though I knew I hadn’t). Despite the novel’s realistic dialogue, well-balanced description vs. character exchange, clear and mostly well-rounded characters, logical storyline progression and development, and generally great writing, the story lacked originality and cohesion of tone for me.

In the beginning, Sabrina’s chapters sometimes make her come off as this creepy, threatening individual similar to the serial killer in Netflix’s YOU. She uses the second-person singular as she indirectly explains to one of the characters the reason for her jealousy and stalking. This starts to create a mysterious, suspenseful tone for the book, but it doesn’t last, as her chapters often unsteadily weave in and out of creepiness back to normalcy until (quite quickly, actually) the creep factor is completely lost, and she just seems like the cliché jealous type. Also, the poorly established tone of suspense is not even a fine thread woven throughout the other characters’ chapters.

Due to this unfortunate imbalance, I feel like the book has neither mystery, nor suspense. It just reads like a normal, contemporary romance novel; there are themes of love, identity, marriage, maternity, jealousy, heartbreak, and healing, but no elements of mystery or thrill, just normal relationship drama unfolding. The only different aspect that makes this book stand out among others is that this drama interwoven in the characters’ lives is well thought out (albeit a tad predictable).

Regarding the book’s end (no spoilers, don’t worry!), I quite like it. It ends appropriately, without falling into cliche territory (so, this part is original!). However, the epilogue, I feel, is unnecessary; it doesn’t warrant being told in order to advance and close the story.

I think most contemporary romance readers will enjoy this book. Mystery/suspense/thriller ones, on the other hand, will be left disappointed and unsatisfied. Had this book not been advertised to me as it had, and if Sabrina’s chapters had been more balanced in tone and her character more developed and clear (because its lack of clarity does not lend itself to mystery or suspense, in this case), then I would have given this book a higher rating, as I would have found it more enjoyable.

At first I was bored with this book but by about 40 percent into it I was all in! It ended up keeping me on my toes without being a typical psychological thriller. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a free copy in exchange for review.

Love Carolo Lovering and loved this book! It follows Molly Diamond to and from her 20s living in NYC to her 30s living in suburban CT married with a child. It is about lost love, relationships and female friendships. It kept me riveted till the end!

I've never read a book by Carola Lovering but I can tell you that I will now be looking into what else she's written and be procuring those asap. Can't Look Away was nuts and I couldn't put it down. The basic premise--girl meets boy, falls in love, relationship ends + girl meets other boy, falls in love and tries to live happily ever after, even though there are still deep feelings for boy number 1--isn't new. The love story of to twenty somethings at the beginnings of their lives is one we can all identify with and made that part of the story relatable. It's what she builds around Molly, Jake, and Hunter that makes it so that you can't look away (sorry! I couldn't help it). Primarily, it's Sabrina and what a complete obsessed psychopath that she is that kept me on my toes. She was so cringe-y and made me want to face palm so many times and yet at the same time I had a teeny tiny bit of sympathy for her. Just a smidge though. Mostly I just wanted her to clue in and move on. While Sabrina was busy plotting and planning, Molly, Jake, and Hunter were finding themselves, together and apart, and growing up.

Fast forward a decade later and life seems to have settled down, though clearly it has not. Molly and Hunter are happy, minus one major aspect--having a second child and Sabrina should be completely content and happy with how things are in her life, but noooo, she has to be a little psychopath and can't leave well enough alone.

Can't Look Away had me pick it up every second I could and now I can't wait to dive into her previous novels.

I really enjoyed this book. Reminded me of being young and in love with your first love. The free feeling, intensity and drama were all there. Such a fun read. I recommend it to everyone. It was also be a great book club read and discussion.

Sorry, this was a DNF for me at around 30%. The book's description sounded amazing, but the suspense just wasn't there in the reading.

After breaking up with Jake, Molly gave up his rock and roll life-style and settled down in a marriage with Hunter. She doesn’t quite fit in her new suburban life but they are happy together. When beautiful and friendly Sabrina moves into the neighborhood, they hit it off immediately.

I loved this book because it was different. I haven’t read anything quite like it. It was suspenseful, mysterious, but also a love story. The romance took a front row, which I normally don’t like, but there was enough darkness and suspense that I was into it. I didn’t like the main character and liked the person I probably wasn’t supposed to like, but sometimes that’s just the way it is!

“Obsession always interested me. The best artists, the most brilliant innovators, they’ve all been driven by it. It straddles the line between passion and insanity; it instigates creativity and genius despite the darkness in which it lingers. To be obsessed with someone or something is to adopt a single-minded drive that reduces the rest of the world to sheer insignificance.

Can’t Look Away comes out 6/14

Thank you to the Publisher and Author for a copy to review!

Carola Lovering has rocketed her way into an auto buy author for me. So, when I saw Can't Look Away available for request, clicking that button was a MUST, and I am so glad that I did.

I would label Can't Look Away as a light thriller, but with a lot of suspense involved, with a dash of romance in between. Parenthood, friendship, lies and secrets. The characters are well developed, and their stories left me wanting more and wanting to know more. The triangle between Molly, Jake and Sabrina felt real and not too overblown. The multiple POVs are well done, and flow together well, they were each relatable in a way without overindulging in flaws. I did enjoy the ending and felt satisfied with how everything was tied together. I will definitely be enjoying Lovering for a while!

A fast-paced domestic suspense novel, that edges on the verge of a stalker classic. Think Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction, but this time she's your best friend.

The writing style is executed well, and Lovering is a great storyteller.

Carola Lovering is back with another sexy, domestic thriller, “Can’t Look Away.” If you’ve come to love her multi-narrative writing style and twisty love triangles in her previous works, you’re in for another treat with this one. This is a can’t put down novel about all-consuming love, jealousy and the pain of regret for lost love.

I enjoyed the multi-narrator perspective from our love triangle Sabrina, Molly and Jake. When there’s a communication breakdown, it’s always nice to get into their heads for insight on what’s going on in their minds that’s not being said out loud. It also levels up the psychological aspect to this thriller, as your heart and mind start racing when you’re privy to sketchy things one character is plotting against the other. You want to scream for them to figure it out before it culminates into a catastrophic event—which it does in this one. Lovering also bounced us between past and present and even though there were multiple narrators and timelines, she seamlessly weaved it together so it wasn’t jarring or confusing in any way. I really related to and cheered on Molly. I think a lot of women will find themselves relating to her and seeing pieces of themselves in her story. The book is as all-consuming as the characters’ love in it and nearly impossible to put down once you get going. Twisty, thought-provoking and ultimately a loves story, Lovering is quickly becoming a trusted author when it comes to writing strong dramas.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Molly had fallen for handsome lead singer Jake when she was young and living in Brooklyn. Now she is married with a six year old and living in suburban Connecticut. Though she wants to be a writer, she’s a yoga teacher. She feels she doesn’t fit in until she meets Sabrina who, like Molly, is going through fertility issues. The story is told in the present time as well as through flashbacks. It is also told from multiple viewpoints. Lovering includes many twists and turns. I had trouble putting it down., I thank NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this ARC.

Have you ever wondered what it wild be like to date a rockstar?
Prospective writer Molly Diamond didn’t have to wonder. When Molly goes to a bar and watches the band Danner Lane play, sparks fly when she instantly connects with the band’s cover boy, Jake Danner.
Follow their tumultuous relationship packed of ups and downs, passion and love.
When someone from Jake’s past turns up, Molly’s world is upended.
Hold on to your hats for the twists and turns in this edge of your seat thriller by Carola Lovering. Definitely a page turner, you won’t want to put this one down!
Can’t Look Away doesn’t beat around the bush, straight to the point from start to finish makes it super fun to read, too.

I loved Carola Lovering's previous novels and her latest does not disappoint! This book was hard to put down. Carola is great at building up the suspense. Compared to her last novel, this book is more romance than thriller but there was enough suspense to keep me engaged. I found the characters to be flawed, realistic, and relatable. This book would make a great beach read!

I loved Tell Me Lies so jumped at the chance for Can’t Look Away! Molly met Jake and fell in love. Jake is the next big thing when it comes to music. Today, Molly lives with her husband (not Jake) and her son. She’s doing her best but something is missing, she wonders if it’s friendship. She meets a new friend and they instantly bond and life seems ok. But is it ever really going to be ok in a domestic thriller? The writing style is addictive, it’s a fantastic thriller with just enough twists and turns to keep you on your toes!

I love Carol Lovering. I read Tell Me Lies last year and wow, what a book hangover from that one. Too Good To Be True was another favorite of mine from 2021. So when I saw that Carol had a new book coming out called Can’t Look Away, I knew I had to read it ASAP. I was not disappointed in the least, Another perfect book from her. Carol Lovering has become one of my favorite newer authors. She is certainly an auto-read for me. Her new book was highly entertaining. Thank you very much for the ARC. I DEFINITELY recommend her work and look forward to reading more from her in the future.
