After a whirlwind romance in her early 20s with Jake, the lead singer of an up-and-coming band, Molly has established her new life with her husband, Hunter, and their daughter. She teaches yoga and has abandoned much of her writing aspirations, and she is trying to conceive her second baby with the help of IVF. When Sabrina, a new woman in town who seems more genuine than the women in the local mom clique, befriends Molly, she is eager to get to know her better. However, Sabrina has an ulterior motive for moving to Flynn Cove, and her chance encounters with Molly were no coincidence.

Although this book is marketed as a thriller, the tension and suspense build slowly, created more so by the format of the alternating perspectives. The drama is focused more on past relationships than actual danger, not your typical thriller trope. The writing style and pacing are well-done, and the characters are relatable and likable. The way the book alternates timelines and perspectives is done artfully and builds suspense in an organic way. We learn about Molly and Jake's history at the same time as the events of the present day, propelling the story seamlessly. I was riveted every step of the way and enjoyed this dramatic, low-stakes, thriller tremendously.

4.5 stars- Let’s clear up the discrepancy of ratings. This book is NOT for those people who are hard laden thriller/horror junkies…if you go into this book looking for this you aren’t going to find it.

This book is more of a REALISTIC domestic suspense that would leave most people terrified if it were happening to you.

Hopefully that will help those choosing to pick this up because it’s really good and it should be picked up!

This was a DNF for me. I tried to get into the plot, but I struggled to accept some of the choices and mindsets of Molly. I get pining for what could have been (I suppose?), but the story was not for me.

I was real into this one. Told in dual POV and multiple timelines I was hooked.
.
In 2013 Molly and Jake fall head over heels for each other. Jake showcases that love in a song that makes his band hit the big time.
.
Years later Molly is living a nice quiet life with her husband Hunter. She has a husband she loves, a sweet daughter, a beautiful home, but something is missing. She wants another child and doesn’t seem to bond with the other women in town, until she meets Sabrina. She finally feels connected to another woman in town.
.
I don’t want to say too much because I was genuinely surprised by a lot in this book. Lovering proves once again that she is the queen of writing about toxic relationships. If you don’t believe me check out #TellmeLies on @hulu based on her novel.

Carola Lovering’s books have gotten a lot of attention lately and I do think she’s a solid author. This one felt more like a soap then thriller but I was still captivated and enjoyed it!

I kept waiting for some major twist to come but overall this felt like it was trying to make a non suspenseful story into a thriller. I did think that the characters felt very well done and true to themselves.

This book was not for me. It was less of a thriller and more of a romance. I also really didn't care for the characters so I couldn't really get invested in them or their story.

The balance of the storyline and the love story was equally as important and kept my interest all through the book. I wasn't the fondest of the ending, but I feel that the rest of the book kept enough interest for me.

I do enjoy a good book that goes from one time frame to another to point out the issues that were in the past, and that come up in the future.

Love this author, and can't wait to read the next.

This is a love story/thriller. It is about young love, and what a person feels that they need to do for themselves, but memories can take them back in time. It is also about jealousy. A well written story. I voluntarily reviewed this book.

Can’t Look Away
By Carola Lovering
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5

I am LOVING this type of book recently. I just can’t get enough of all the lies and deceptions!

I read Too Good to Be True last year and absolutely devoured it. I had high hopes for this one and it definitely delivered.

I love a book with alternating timelines/multiple perspectives. I was so glad that this one alternated between the past and present so we could get a better understanding of Molly & Jake’s relationship.

While this one is classified as a thriller, I would definitely say it’s more suspenseful. And more like a romantic suspense at that. So if you’re the type of person that wants to read thrillers, but doesn’t want to sleep with the lights on, give this one a try!

I really liked the ending of this one & while Sabrina was the wooooorst, I’m glad we got one last glimpse into her crazy mind.

I didn’t expect to like this chaotic cast of unlikeable characters and their messy drama as much as I did. Every character was so annoying to me the whole time, yet I could not put this down. While there are many too-corny-for-enjoyment moments, Sabrina’s obsession carried the story line so much that I can almost look past the parts that made me cringe. I would likely recommend this for fans of Colleen Hoover, you are way closer to the demographic for this than I am.
Thank you to NetGalley and St Martins Press for the e-book!

I loved Can’t Look Away by Carola Lovering and couldn’t put it down! Even though I was quite far into a massive novel I couldn’t stop reading about Molly, Jake and their trials and tribulations. Ms Lovering depicted the heart and soul of creative people in a very realistic way but also gave them some redemption by having them come to hard-won realizations about themselves. The infertility process depictions were frighteningly true-to-life. I thank the publisher, St Martin’s and #netgalley for this ebook of #cantlookaway to read and review—all opinions are my own.

Carola Lovering does not miss with me. This was such a fascinating mix of You with a coming of age love story gone wrong somewhere, I truly was stuck to my kindle reading this. Thanks to St Martins for the arc for my honest review.

I went into this book thinking I was getting a mystery/thriller, but it was so much more than that. This was a wonderfully written story touching on love, family drama, and the healing that occurs during and after a relationship has ended.

Can't Look Away follows Molly, Nick, and Sabrina in a quirky yet crafty love triangle over multiple timelines to see how and if their worlds will ever overlap.
It was nice to have a. domestic thriller for a change where the focus is not all on "the crime". Although that aspect is very present, the timeline switch between different relationships and what happened to them was intriguing. The mysteries of what happened to these relationships were almost more solve-worthy than the crime itself and had better payoffs. 4.5 stars.

Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the ARC.

Can't Look Away by Carola Lovering is told through three different perspectives: Molly, Jake and Sabrina. And they go back and forth from the past to present. So if you don't dig multiple POV's and past/present, this book isn't for you. But it was for me! I enjoyed the storyline of obsession/the one that got away as well as the characters themselves. Ms. Lovering did a great job with this one and I look forward to reading more from her.

Can't Look Away was my second Carola Lovering book, and I have found that I really enjoy this "sexy suspense" sub genre, so much! An angsty love story filled with a sprinkle of domestic suspense, made this a really fun reading ride! It's not a page turner thriller, so don't go in thinking it is and I think you will totally enjoy it!

I thought the alternating point of view narration was really well done, and added so much to the unraveling storyline. Complicated relationships, obsession, desire and revenge...this one has it all! I also listened to this via audiobook and it was a great way to read this book.

Thank you too NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for my gifted review copy.

QUICK TAKE: Daisy Jones, but make it a domestic suspense. I liked it fine, but already forgot what happened.

Can’t Look Away is a very fitting title. I ended up finishing this in a short two days. At times it was a bit predictable, but overall a great read. I highly recommend.
