The balance of the storyline and the love story was equally as important and kept my interest all through the book. I wasn't the fondest of the ending, but I feel that the rest of the book kept enough interest for me.
I do enjoy a good book that goes from one time frame to another to point out the issues that were in the past, and that come up in the future.
Love this author, and can't wait to read the next.
This is a love story/thriller. It is about young love, and what a person feels that they need to do for themselves, but memories can take them back in time. It is also about jealousy. A well written story. I voluntarily reviewed this book.
Can’t Look Away
By Carola Lovering
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
I am LOVING this type of book recently. I just can’t get enough of all the lies and deceptions!
I read Too Good to Be True last year and absolutely devoured it. I had high hopes for this one and it definitely delivered.
I love a book with alternating timelines/multiple perspectives. I was so glad that this one alternated between the past and present so we could get a better understanding of Molly & Jake’s relationship.
While this one is classified as a thriller, I would definitely say it’s more suspenseful. And more like a romantic suspense at that. So if you’re the type of person that wants to read thrillers, but doesn’t want to sleep with the lights on, give this one a try!
I really liked the ending of this one & while Sabrina was the wooooorst, I’m glad we got one last glimpse into her crazy mind.
I didn’t expect to like this chaotic cast of unlikeable characters and their messy drama as much as I did. Every character was so annoying to me the whole time, yet I could not put this down. While there are many too-corny-for-enjoyment moments, Sabrina’s obsession carried the story line so much that I can almost look past the parts that made me cringe. I would likely recommend this for fans of Colleen Hoover, you are way closer to the demographic for this than I am.
Thank you to NetGalley and St Martins Press for the e-book!
I loved Can’t Look Away by Carola Lovering and couldn’t put it down! Even though I was quite far into a massive novel I couldn’t stop reading about Molly, Jake and their trials and tribulations. Ms Lovering depicted the heart and soul of creative people in a very realistic way but also gave them some redemption by having them come to hard-won realizations about themselves. The infertility process depictions were frighteningly true-to-life. I thank the publisher, St Martin’s and #netgalley for this ebook of #cantlookaway to read and review—all opinions are my own.
Carola Lovering does not miss with me. This was such a fascinating mix of You with a coming of age love story gone wrong somewhere, I truly was stuck to my kindle reading this. Thanks to St Martins for the arc for my honest review.
I went into this book thinking I was getting a mystery/thriller, but it was so much more than that. This was a wonderfully written story touching on love, family drama, and the healing that occurs during and after a relationship has ended.
Can't Look Away follows Molly, Nick, and Sabrina in a quirky yet crafty love triangle over multiple timelines to see how and if their worlds will ever overlap.
It was nice to have a. domestic thriller for a change where the focus is not all on "the crime". Although that aspect is very present, the timeline switch between different relationships and what happened to them was intriguing. The mysteries of what happened to these relationships were almost more solve-worthy than the crime itself and had better payoffs. 4.5 stars.
Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the ARC.
Can't Look Away by Carola Lovering is told through three different perspectives: Molly, Jake and Sabrina. And they go back and forth from the past to present. So if you don't dig multiple POV's and past/present, this book isn't for you. But it was for me! I enjoyed the storyline of obsession/the one that got away as well as the characters themselves. Ms. Lovering did a great job with this one and I look forward to reading more from her.
Can't Look Away was my second Carola Lovering book, and I have found that I really enjoy this "sexy suspense" sub genre, so much! An angsty love story filled with a sprinkle of domestic suspense, made this a really fun reading ride! It's not a page turner thriller, so don't go in thinking it is and I think you will totally enjoy it!
I thought the alternating point of view narration was really well done, and added so much to the unraveling storyline. Complicated relationships, obsession, desire and revenge...this one has it all! I also listened to this via audiobook and it was a great way to read this book.
Thank you too NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for my gifted review copy.
QUICK TAKE: Daisy Jones, but make it a domestic suspense. I liked it fine, but already forgot what happened.
Great book and enjoyed the characters . loved the slight romance and the how well the group worked together. Overall a great book . I would read this author again.
Can’t Look Away is a very fitting title. I ended up finishing this in a short two days. At times it was a bit predictable, but overall a great read. I highly recommend.

Synopsis: It’s 2013 and aspiring writer Molly is chasing her dreams in New York City. She meets and quickly falls in love with singer Jake. He soon writes a hit song about her that skyrockets his band to fame.
Fast forward 10 years later, Molly and Jake’s love hasn’t lasted, but that hit song has certainly followed them around. Molly is now living in Connecticut with a picture perfect suburban home, husband, and daughter. With all of that in place, what could go wrong? Enter Sabrina, a newbie to town who will have Molly questioning every decision she has made in the past 10 years.
Thoughts: This book was fast-paced, thrilling, and fantastic. I could not put it down and read it in 2 days! The plot twists captivated me and I was hooked. This book will leave you in suspense and have you questioning who is deceiving who amongst the cast of characters.
For Fans of: Revisited first loves, domestic drama/thrillers, fast-paced reads, and suspense.
I wasn’t a fan of the book when I first started reading - the writing style was kind of repetitive and off putting at times. A few chapters in, the story hooked me. I was surprised by the twist in the end, but definitely thought the consequences for some characters were unfair. I guess that’s life though! I read this in a few hours, really couldn’t put it down.
"Can't Look Away" sat on my virtual TBR shelf for way too long until I finally decided to give it a whirl. I was so pleasantly surprised with this - I had expected a run of the mill thriller but that wasn't it at all. Instead, Carola Lovering spins a captivating domestic drama with a few twists and turns that kept me hooked to the end. A really fun read all in all.
This is one of my new favorite authors! This is my second book by her and I loved it too! Her mystery and thrilling aspect of writing keeps you guessing until the very end. The atmosphere and the characters the author writes really appeal to your sins and your conscience so that you become quickly invested. Highly recommend anything by this author!
I really enjoyed this! This book is definitely not a thriller. If you go in looking for a twisty thriller you will be extremely disappointed. If you want a soapy drama filled with betrayal, deception, heartache and a dash of intrigue, this is for you. I would love to see this play out through an episodic drama on Netflix. I was entertained from beginning to end and was quickly pulled into the lives of the characters and invested in the outcome of their lives. Very addictive! Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for my copy.
A completely accurate title. This was a quick and easy read that I couldn’t look away from, even having predicted the twists and turns that lie ahead.
This one doesn’t fit neatly in any one genre box. Part suspense, part romance, part women’s fiction, I found it a unique mix that made me ponder the connections we make over time and how we change as we age.
I flew through the audiobook narrated by Caitlin Davies, Karissa Vacker, and Zachary Webber. If you’re looking for a quick listen while you get *all the things* done, I’d recommend this one.
Also of note, this was a @gmabookclub pick in July.
Many thanks to @stmartinspress and macmillan.audio for the #gifted copies.

Good and kept me interested while reading but nothing has really stuck with me since reading it. Great fall time/creepy vibes though.
Thanks to Netgalley and publishers for allowing me an e-arc in exchange for an honest (late) review.
