Sherilyn Kenyon is one of my favourite authors and I’m happy to say this book didn’t disappoint.

Ariel was an Arel who was cursed and sent to earth through no fault of hers. Valteri has a disfigurement that has gained him nothing but hatred, pain and torture.

The romance, the action, the medley of old and new characters all woven together made for a really great read. I got beauty and the beast vibes from the story.

Valteri and Ariel were so good together. The love they had for each other was amazing. I loved how Ariel went so far to protect the man she loved.

Thank you NetGalley and Macmillan-Tor/Forge for the e-ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I am so glad Kenyon and this series is back. I love this world and enjoy all the characters. The hero was broody and alone at first and the heroine was great. The plot was great even though some of it was a long time coming.
I can't wait to continue in the world after such a long break. I

I just cannot get into this novel. I have had it and tried to read it over the last 3 weeks and am only at the 25% mark. He spends his time thinking how cruel everyone is and planning what he will do to the next person who slights him or hurts someone weaker than they are.

Life is not fair and people can be vicious and cruel but I don't want to read about it.

Perhaps the problem is me because the writing is quite good, I just cannot force myself to be bored.

I was excited to get access to this title by one of my favorite authors. Sherrilyn has created a world that I will always happily step into. That being said I look forward to seeing the final version of this book. Unfortunately the characters seem a bit copy paste and not as real or alive as the rest of her characters. I felt as I was reading this book the effects of the author's life on her writing. This book felt a bit forced and not as polished as the rest of her titles in these many connected series. I wish that she had been allowed the time and space to craft freely and breath real life into these characters. Never the less I will always proudly buy and read book Sherrilyn writes.

Thank you, NetGalley for providing an ARC in return for honest feedback. I would give this book a 3.5 but am rounding it up to 4 because I am fond of the world it takes place in and the enjoyable writing style.

As usual, Sherrilyn Kenyon mixes romance and fantasy to come up with another great couple. That said, I got tired of our romantic leads constantly trying to leave each other, only to change course within a few hours. This plot narrative happened too many times and began to feel like filler. I did love Ariel and Valteri as characters. Especially, Valteri who felt the most layered of all the characters. I wish we had gotten more of these layers with everyone else. Who often seemed to be pointlessly hanging around.

This is a good read. Thorn and Shadow are certainly intriguing. Add Archeron and I was hooked. Well written and fast paced you never know what happens next.

Shadow Fallen is the newest addition to the Dream-Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon. It is currently scheduled for release on April 12 2022. The book does have cameos from characters from previous books from the author and her various series, however this can be read on its own as well.

For centuries, Ariel has fought the forces of evil. Her task was to protect the souls of innocent mortals when they die. Captured by a powerful sorceress, she is transformed into a human who has no memory of her real life or calling. And is plunked into the middle of the Norman invasion of England. Cursed the moment he was born with a "demonic deformity," Valteri wants nothing of this earth except to depart it and will do his duty to his king until then. When a strange noblewoman is brought before him, Valteri realizes he has met her before…in his dreams. When others come for her, bringing with them preternatural predators, he is faced with a destiny he had no idea was waiting. One he wants no part of. The truth is that Valteri isn’t just a knight of William the Conqueror. He is the son of one of the deadliest powers in existence, and if he doesn’t restore Ariel to her place, she is not the only one who will be in peril. The world itself hangs in the balance, and he is the necessary key to hold back the powers of evil. But only if he can find a way to work with the woman who stands for everything in the universe he hates.

Shadow Fallen is a return to the worlds if gods, betrayal, and love created by the author. I have been a fan for years and was glad to get a new book in my hands. The book held true to the things I expect- love that overcomes betrayal and even death. There are characters that have been tormented and some who still are, there are big conflicts and feelings and strange familial ties that complicate things. There are good souls struggling to hold true to their values despite everything around them and how others treat them, and others that give into the despair and hatred that it can cause. I loved being back in the thick of it and watching Val and Ariel find their way to each other and a future. I will admit that I did not get as lost in this story as I normally do. I am not sure if it was the stress and family that were circling around as I tried to read the book, or my mood at the time, but I just did not get as heavily involved as I normally do. The characters and conflicts were just as intense as I expected, the drama and stakes high and involved. I enjoyed getting to see some characters I knew from other books play their part, and interact with those I was just getting to know. The only issue I had with the read that I could actually identify could be fixed before final printing. I found that in the galley there were moments when the book changed point of view with no warning or break, but I doubt that will be an issue in the final version.

Shadow Fallen holds to the love conquering trauma and death idea that threads through all of the author's work. It did not capture me quite as much as some of her earlier works, but it was still a good read and I am glad to have gotten my hands on it.

Sherrilyn never disappoints! As a long time reader of Sherrilyn's books I absolutely love this new addition to The Dream-Hunter novels. Valteri is written so well and his character development is so well rounded. Sherrilyn does an amazing job of bringing these characters to life its like they could leap from the pages. This is definitely a book for anyone's top shelf.

This book is absolutely everything you expect from a Sherrilyn Kenyon and more. Absolutely worth the wait. Valteri is just yummy and Ariel is an absolute badass. Plus I loved the cat. I can't wait to see what the next Dark Hunter book is.

I really wasn’t a fan of this book. Even though it’s part of the overarching Dark-Hunter narrative it didn’t really have any of what makes that series good. It kind of read like a historical romance, but with demons, and not a good one at that. Also, can we talk about the name of the MFC? Ariel the Arel? That was too much. Belial and Mildred were just annoying as were all the reasons behind the plot. Ariel and Valteri also had no chemistry to speak of, so overall I wouldn’t recommend this book. The author has better work that you can read instead.

The world is right again with the incomparable Sherrilyn Kenyon’s amazing Dark-Hunter series returned to us. In Shadow Fallen we meet the cursed Valteri and Ariel. Fearful of subterfuge and betrayal, Ariel and Valteri work together with the common goal of finding what they need to survive whilst falling in love. The enemies in this plot are new and spark instant curiosity. Sherrilyn has given us our Dark-Hunter world in this beautifully crafted tale and a moment with some of our favorite Dark-Hunter characters. Shadow Fallen is a great standalone story, but adds new depth to the intricate Dark-Hunter world.

Thank you to NetGalley, Sherrilyn Kenyon, Tor Books for this amazing opportunity to read and review this ARC of Shadow Fallen. I am looking forward to reading many more adventures in the worlds that Sherrilyn weaves in the future.

I enjoyed this book, but there was just something missing that I kept expecting and never received. With the return of Sherrilyn Kenyon to the Dream Hunter world, I was hoping for the same writing style I am used to from her previous books. However, while it wasn't a bad book, it felt like it was written by someone else entirely which lessened the enjoyment. It also didn't feel like a true Dream Hunter novel - could easily be read standalone. I would have preferred this just be a historical romance with memory loss, rather than the paranormal elements thrown in which felt out of place.

The plot felt underdeveloped, so the tension and action were surface level. The hero and heroine were likable, and I enjoyed their interactions, but it felt almost too easy. I would have wanted more angst, more drama, and maybe more backstory on the heroine herself. I was confused for a large part of the book about what exactly she was, how her former world was structured, and when she gained her memory back, who she used to be. I felt very disconnected from her character. The hero was someone I easily connected to, so he saved the day with this book. While I can't give it four stars, I would say it's very close to four stars in large part because of him.

I did love the inclusion of older characters, and I'm excited that Jaden will be getting his own book eventually. Perhaps with the characters we know and love, the original Sherrilyn Kenyon voice we know and love will resurface. I'm hopeful that is the case, because this is the first book by her that I have not given at least 4 stars.

4.5 stars!! What a great return for Sherrilyn Kenyon! Happy to be transported back to this world again, finally. Feel so very lucky to have gotten an early copy to read and review. It's as if no time has passed at all from the last book. Love Valteri and Ariel and their stories both separate and together. As always the interesting worlds and characters are the driving force of the story. Fantastic read!!! Awesome cameo!! I look forward to more!!!

Shadow Fallen is the brand new entry in Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dream-Hunter series. And is the first in an exciting new trilogy. The story is set in Medieval England and follows Valteri and Ariel as they try and fight the curses placed upon them.

Ariel is a well developed character who the readers first meet in chapter 1 as she is ripped from her world and cursed for a soul she had no say in taking. Ariel is cursed to be mortal and in order to break the curse she must fall in love and then watch her love die before her. But once the curse is set in place, the demon Belial erases her memories, all except her name. Even without her memories and the emotions of a human, Ariel is still a brave and strong willed character, who will do anything to protect those she cares about. She constantly tries to remember her life from before, and doesn't give up even when her memories are placed with false ones. She is a character who understands the plots and schemes going on around her and will do anything to protect those she cares about from harm.

Valteri is one of the few male main characters I have read who is willing to lower his guard for his love interest. He is a character who is true to himself and those around him. Valteri has had a very tragic past, and is hesitant to trust those around him, but when Ariel appears he immediately feels safe with her, and longs to be loved for who he is.

The beginning of the book had more of a slow pace as it was introducing readers to the world. But easily picked up with action and romance that flowed nicely together. I fully understood the plot and how the characters tied in with the story. My only thought was that I wish the ending didn't feel so rushed, and that the concluding action could've happened a little bit sooner. But this is understandable as the book is a standalone and is trying to fit everything into about 400 pages or so.

You can read this book as a standalone and fully enjoy it, but I would recommend reading at least one of the Dark Hunter books, just so that you're familiar with some of the characters and background. Although, that being said the author did an amazing job describing everything in the book so that there would be no confusion on who is who.

What I enjoyed about this book was how relatable the main characters were, they weren't afraid to show their emotions and when they made mistakes they made sure to correct them. I also enjoyed the world-building and the premise of the book, it was nice to see two characters who are destined to succumb to their curses, fight for themselves and their happy ending. The pace was good, it flowed and progressed nicely, and every action that the characters made, made sense. Overall, it was a fun read that grabbed my attention.

If you like multiple point of views, a heartaching romance that leaves you weeping and laughing, relatable characters full of banter and wits, world-building that is easily understandable but still full of details, and a plot that flows nicely with just enough action and romance to leave you satisfied, then this book might be for you!

Overall, this was a 4.2/5 star read for me and I can't wait to see what happens next in the Dream-Hunter series! Thank you to NetGalley and torbooks for a copy of this e-arc in exchange for a honest review!

so glad to see Sherri is back in the writing world. i have missed her. That being said I didn't feel this book fell much under the dream hunter series. The setting was different with being in older times. Besides demons if didn't feel connected to the series but it's own kind of book. I did like the characters.

Sherrilyn Kenyon is one of my favorite authors and she is also my auto buy author, plus she is also my comfort author. I read her books when I need a little comfort in my life. It felt so good to be back in the world of the hunters. Shadow Fallen had me guessing through out the whole book and I loved that. It is now in my top three favorite Sherrilyn's books. I recommend this book to anyone who also loves the hunters.

The McQueen is back!!!!! I've missed this amazingly talented writers books so much!!! Shadow Fallen is the precursor to Jaden's book coming next in this series. Valteri the godless is another sherrilyn character who's life has been full of pain and suffering since childhood and into manhood for something that wasn't his fault! Because of his eyes being different colors he was treated like shit! Everything from saying he was the devils own to the good men of the cloth torturing him and doing unspeakable things. He is undefeated in war and king Williams brother and top commander but instead of being paided with gold like William promised he gives him Ravenswood Hall and the lands and outlying territories instead. The people whisper behind his back and are afraid of their new master and valteri does nothing to change that. But with the appearance of a mysterious lady things are about to change for this dark and lonely warrior. The beautiful Ariel is a Arel angel who collects mens souls dying on the battlefield for heavens fight against evil but when she comes to collect a young mans soul his witch mother puts a curse on her and she becomes earth bound with no memory of who she is and until till someone she loves dies in her arms to break the curse that's were she will remain. I love how Ariel wasn't frightened by valteri and his looks or gruff manner. This was a beautiful love story with a few twists and turns and passion with a slow burning love and finding out who valteri's real father was and having both Thorn leader of the hellchasers and dark hunter Shadow be apart of this story made all the more enjoyable. Team bad was at it again with demon Belial doing the dirty work trying to get our angel to fall so he could take Ariel's soul to the evil Kadar! What a prize to bring not only the soul of a Arel warrior angel but the daughter of the greatest heavenly warrior angel michael. Sherrilyn is setting all the pieces on the board for the return of one of the most feared and predatory characters of all time! Jaden has been buying his time and plotting his revenge! But his time is coming and not even god can help those who fucked with him!! I'm so excited!!!! Bravo Sherriyln Mcqueen on coming back after dealing with so much pain and having your life and your families life ripped apart for the last few years and STILL putting out one hell of book!!!! Thank you for continuing to write books about survivor's who fight the good fight and win! Until next time Luv's💕💋

Another great book from Sherrilyn Kenyon. With a brooding handsome male protaganist and a beautiful smart female protaganist, and throw in some angels (or Arels as they are called in the book) and demons and an eternal war encompassing different realms, this book is a fun ride!

Set in the time of William the Conqueror, Valteri is more of a fighter than lord the castle. When a mysterious lady is found on his land he wants nothing to do with her. Ariel is something more than a lady. Can these two figure out who she is in time. Great book back for author Sherrilyn Kenyon. These two are a great read.
