Mable and Jensen's families are sworn enemies but that means nothing to Jensen's young daughter Samantha. Not old enough to know anything about the family feud Samantha is convinced that Mabel is a princess that can talk to animals and nothing could change her mind. It seems Samantha's kindness just might bring Mabel and Jensen closer then ever but could the family feud ruin things between the two?
This was a pretty heartwarming book. I just finished reading another family feud book before this and I was a bit worried that might it might ruin my enjoyment of this book thinking that they'll be the same ol thing. But they were completely different and I really loved how this book turned out. I loved how innocent and sweet Samantha was, she was too young to be hampered by the whole feud between families and wore her heart on her sleeve. I loved how kind Mabel was too, she wasn't the type to push anyone away, she wasn't going to ruin Samantha's view on her or treat Jensen and Samantha with anything but respect. I kept getting peeved by the families on the side reminding the two about the feud and it was clear they weren't the kind to change even if this issue was and old one. It was just a nice read, with sweet moments and I really enjoyed this book.
This is a Clean Cowboy Romance, and this is the second book in the Cowboys of Garrison, Texas series. I was so done with the family rival thing that was going on in this book. My favorite character in this book was Samantha, and that little girl was the one thing I really loved about this book. I just want to yell at the two main characters and say stand up to your family. There was so many cute and fun parts to this book, but there was just the same thing coming up through out this book which I hated. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Harlequin Heartwarming) or author (Sasha Summers) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.
"A little child shall lead them."
The Briscoe-Crawley feud goes back several generations, initially caused by a fight over a woman and passed along to each subsequent generation with increasing intensity. Now Mabel Briscoe is back in her hometown for a few weeks visit, determined to avoid the object of her unrequited crush, Jensen Crawley. A chance meeting leads the widower's charming young daughter to immediately befriend Mabel, and she innocently leads the way toward resolving the animosity between the two families.
Mabel and Jensen have so much simmering tension and chemistry to spare, and they each know there's no earthly reason to perpetuate the feud, yet they both face nearly unbearable pressure from their respective families to continue the blame and mistrust that has divided them for so long. It was exquisite torture to watch these two struggle with their growing feelings while still trying to respect the family traditions.
The HEA was sweet and triumphant, and was so much more than just the magic of a child bringing them together. This author really knows how to bring all the heartfelt emotions into play, letting the romance truly drive the story forward and leaving this reader with a sigh-filled book hangover.
If you're looking for a "kisses only" swoon-worthy romance, this was written for you. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
