Federal Judge Sidney Logan finds herself on the run with her foster daughter, under the protection of Deputy Marshall Tanner Wilcox, to escape someone who wants to intimidate her ruling on an upcoming trial.
A fast paced read that gripped me from the beginning. I loved the Wyoming setting, as well as the relationship building between the main characters. I so happy to recognize Tanner and Colt from a previous book, though you can definitely read this one as a stand alone. Tanner is is a good man, with strong convictions who lives his faith. I liked how he is open about his beliefs with Sidney, and puts her doubts to rest.
Overall a fantastic read, engaging and tension filled from the start with likable characters. I loved how great Tanner was with Lilly, and his friendship with Colt. Definitely will keep reading this amazing series, can't wait to read Colt's story!

Rocky Mountain Standoff is a Love Inspired Suspense by Laura Scott. Sidney, a judge, is presiding over a high-profile case, if she and her daughter can stay alive along enough for her to do so. That’s where the marshals, particularly Tanner Wilcox, come in.
Shoot-outs, chases, and bombs, this story has all the exciting parts of suspense. I was expecting more from a mystery stand point and the marshals sometimes lacked that marshal feel at times, so it was difficult for this story to hold my attention. But it’s has a sweet romance. Tanner has a strong kindness streak that I loved seeing. If you enjoy LIS stories, then give this one a read.

Sidney is a judge in the process of adopting her 6 month foster child, but someone is trying to get her to stop a trial or else. Its the or else bit that's causing a commotion because now she and the baby's lives are in danger but hopefully US Deputy Marshal Tanner can keep them safe.
This book was a trip and a half from the beginning. It was hard to to know who can Sidney trust because clearly there is someone out to get her and with a possible mole theres that question if they are really safe with those who are supposed to keep them safe. Thankfully she can trust Tanner and hope he can keep her safe before everything gets worse. I loved that there was so much going on with this book I just couldn't put it down. If you like a fast paced book that'll keep you on your toes then check this book out.
This is a Romantic Suspense, and this is the 5th book in the Justice Seekers series. The beginning of this book did not pull me into this story, and It took me a while to get into this story. I loved parts of this book so much, but on the other hand there was parts of this book I really did not enjoyed. I felt it took me a long time to really care about the characters in this book. I love having a judge as the main characters because we did not get a Judge as the main characters a lot. I love seeing the story from a Judge's point of view. The suspense/mystery was slow to get me into it, but the twists and turns in the mystery was so good. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Love Inspired Suspense) or author (Laura Scott) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.
A action packed story with danger around every corner.
Sidney Logan is a judge who is being targeted by criminals that will do anything to stop her from being around for the upcoming trial that she is in charge of. She asks US Marshall Tanner Wilcox to come help her and her foster baby daughter.
The story kept my attention though I found it slow going at times. Despite all the drama going on with shoot outs galore and explosions going on, there are tender and funny moments that help keep you engaged in the story.
Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and author for the opportunity to read this book for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.
A fast paced romantic suspense that kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. Because I just had to know what happened.
Laura Scott’s Rocky Mountain Standoff gives readers a suspenseful ride. Judge Sidney Logan is being targeted because of her upcoming trial, and the criminals will do anything to stop the trial. Sidney goes on the run with the help of the US Marshals. Tanner Wilcox pulls out all the stops to keep Sidney safe, but he comes to care about the judge and her almost-adopted baby.
This story is action-packed. Explosions, shootouts, and plenty of plot twists kept me turning pages. Despite the constant threat of danger, readers really get to know the characters. Sidney isn’t the tough as nails rule oriented judge as she first appears. Tanner makes the perfect hero, putting his life on the line several times to save Sidney and Lily. And the banter between Tanner and his partner Colt keeps things light-hearted in the midst of the drama.
I enjoyed both Hiding His Holiday Witness and Rocky Mountain Standoff (Books 4 & 5 in the Justice Seekers series.) I hope the series continues because I’d love to read a story about Colt.
Overall Rating:
5 stars (I loved it, couldn’t put it down)
Suspense Rating:
5 stars (Non-stop edge-of-your-seat suspense from start to finish)

I was looking forward to this one, and once again, Laura Scott doesn't disappoint! I loved this thrilling read, and enjoyed getting to know Sidney and Tanner, as well as little Lily!
This book is amazing and I can’t wait to read more in this series . The story keeps you on edge about who and what it will be . I haven’t read a book this good in awhile I couldn’t put it down .
When a federal judge is targeted, US Marshals are called in to protect her and find out who is trying to kill her. Here is some good inspirational suspense. Laura Scott adds a good one to her series.

"Rocky Mountain Standoff" is a romantic suspense novel. It's the fifth book in a series but works as a stand alone. The suspense was high throughout due to the danger to Sidney and her foster baby. Some parts didn't make sense, though, like why the deputies responsible for the courthouse security kept letting things come through without checking them. Or why the defendant kept threatening the people Sidney loved so she would find him not guilty when he knew only the jury could do that. Not to mention that his thugs kept shooting at her like she was the target. Or why another victim of this guy didn't go after the criminal (who was nearby) in revenge rather than threaten to kill Sidney, who was a victim like him.
Anyway. The romance didn't work for me. I understand why Sidney was attracted to this handsome guy who made her feel safe and who was great with her foster baby. But in the last book, Tanner was complaining about how difficult she was to protect because she wanted to do her job so this trial could be completed. She's still "difficult" that way, just like he's stubborn about refusing to get needed medical help. He's charmed by the baby. Then he's suddenly passionately kissing her. Panicked she'll leave him. Declaring that "love was all that mattered" no matter their differences and she and the baby made his life worth living. Um. Where did this come from? Later, he kept pushing her to say they'll adopt a lot more children even though they both have intense jobs and she feels rather old to raise children. Personally, I felt like they weren't a good match for a long term relationship. There was no sex or bad language.
This is the 5th installment in the Justice Seekers series, but it can be read as a stand alone. I've read others in the series, and this one did take me a bit longer to get into the story than the others. Some plot points fell a bit short and created lulls or pulled me out of the story. I haven't read many books with a judge as a main character, and I enjoyed that. The mystery was solid and there were a few unexpected twists.
Sydney, a judge, & her six-month soon-to-be adopted daughter, Lily, are in danger from someone who wants to throw a case and she is caught in the crossfire. US Deputy Marshal Tanner comes to the rescue. They both carry a lot of guilt from the past ex’s and while this was a slow start, I didn’t unfortunately feel the chemistry with these two. The fact that heroine is older than the Hero was another con, but that is just my personal tastes so don’t let it
dissuade you from reading!
I was kindly provided an advance copy by NetGalley, Publisher or Author for an honest review and I want to thank them for it..
Sidney Logan is a respected judge over a high profile case. She has been receiving death threats and threats against those she loves. When she drives her daughter over to the nanny's house, only to find the nanny murdered, she calls in back up. Cue US Marshall Tanner Wilcox.
I could not get into this book. The author appears to not have (current) experience with children, a key component as there is a 6 month old prominent in the book. Children should not be wearing snowsuits in car seats. You wouldn't be able to turn around to see an infant in their car seat, as young children should be rear-facing (this could have just been poor writing). Infants eat more than three times a day. And it has been known for over 20 years that rice cereal shouldn't be fed to infants.
I probably could have overlooked the poor writing about the child in the book. However, the author adds in a healthy dose of sexism. The male lead thinks a(ny) male judge would be better suited for this case than the female lead. Men are supposedly more suited to positions of power and wouldn't be threatened like a woman. There is nothing like telling women readers that they are not worthy of being treated like an equal.
And then there is the overtly religious condescension. There tend to be two types of Christian romance novels: the kind that conveys love and caring of people and the kind which is full of bigotry and discrimination against anyone not Christian. This book is the latter. Tanner, having not once mentioned his religion and after silently praying over his food, realizes that Sidney has not mentioned her religion and didn't see her pray out loud before eating, even though he wasn't in the room at the time. He decides then and there that he will have to take it upon himself, unsolicited, to talk to her about religion for her sake and for her daughter.
Really, how many ways can you say that this man is full of himself? Had I had a physical copy, I probably would have tossed the book then and there, aiming for the trash can. Could it get better? Possibly. Should I spend any more of my time reading drivel? Definitely not.
