I have zero knowledge of competitive horse riding, but I enjoyed learning a little about the sport while reading this book. James Patterson has an ease and flow to all of his books, and this one was no exception. The story of a mother-daughter duo fighting to be on the Olympic team was an interesting one. Thank you NetGalley and Little, Brown and Company for a digital arc of this title.

I will start with the fact that I am completely unsure why this book is called The HorsewomAn and not The HorsewomEn. It absolutely should be the latter. This story is compulsively readable and I went through it quickly as I could not put it down. Several twists, some more predictable than others. The characters were layered and interesting. I was not overly impressed with the writing overall - it was somewhat choppy and simplistic. I would have appreciated more description in several places. I will also say as a former equestrian - books about riding are tricky for me sometimes as they don’t always get the technical parts right. This book did a decent job, but there were still areas an equestrian might have made corrections.

Thank you NetGalley, James Patterson and Little, Brown and Company for the book The Horsewoman. This is my personal review.
Mother and daughter relationship is the very soul of this story. The story revolves around the two and their hopes and dreams of getting to participate in the Olympics.
There is so much packed into the pages of this book. The authors did a wonderful job of getting me involved with what goes on in the world horse competitions.
I look forward to more from this writing duo.

There is something about a James Patterson book and whoever he co authors with that tells you , you are in for a great read.

The Horsewoman is no exception.

There is family tension, there is family love and loyalty and family competitiveness that keeps those pages turning and the lights on for one more chapter.

Maggie and Bess are competing first of all to go the Olympics and then if they make it will one of them win gold?

I cheered with the ladies , I cringed during the races and I held my breath as they flew around the ring.

You can't go wrong with a James Patterson book for entertainment and a face paced read.

I will be sure to check out Mike Lupica books as well.

Thanks to NetGalley and Little Brown and Company for a roller coaster of a read.

The Horsewoman by James Patterson and Mike Lupica
I have only read two books by James Patterson. I liked one and didn’t like the other. I almost gave this a pass, but the cover and description were just too hard to skip. I liked this one very much. I’ve been around horses most of my life and even showed for a short while. This book almost could have been titled the three horsewomen. Daughter, mother and grandmother are the center, with more focus on the daughter and mother. The story is about the journey towards the Olympics in jumping. Some of the shows that they were competing at had me trying to read faster to see if they made a ‘clean’ round and if either were going to make the team. I felt like the characters were well thought out, but not everything was revealed about them and their journey at once. Along the way, there is a little romance and I found myself rooting for love too. I loved the horses too. The research has been done for the horses, training and competitions. Overall I think this was a job well done and interesting to read. If you like horses, I believe you will enjoy reading this book.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Little, Brown and Company in exchange for an honest review. The opinions expressed here are my own.

I have been a fan of James Patterson for many many years have read over 120 of his novels. The first was "Along Came a Spider" back in 1993. It was the first in the Alex Cross series ~ now up to Book #29.
I haven’t been a big fan of the co-author novels. Have to admit some are good. In this case teaming up Hall of Fame sports columnist Mike Lupica; who has written sixteen novels and his daughter is a competitive rider. worked for this novel.

Story is about mother Maggie Atwood and her twenty-one year old daughter Becky McCabe as well as their horses Coronado and Sky. As they are all have their eyes on the Paris Olympics.

I am not a horsewoman so although the story was interesting, it was a bit slow..
I always think of horse as beautiful animals and they are but I never realized how dangerous riding is for both the rider and the horse.

Want to thank NetGalley and Little Brown and Company for this eGalley. This file has been made available to me before publication in an early form for an honest professional review.

My first James Patterson book approval, i spent my entire Sunday reading this book, it was so good and definetly not a normal JP book, i seriously enjoyed this story, the family history, the mother daughter relationships especially. There were so many things i liked about this book, the slow build of relationships, the jerk guy who thought he knew it all but didnt, what true friends do for each other, it was just a great book about family, relationships and going for your dreams. The best part was that some of it actually took place in my home state of Ky, loved that aspect of it. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this Arc.
