Purchasing a fixer-upper without a home inspection has certainly bitten Nadia in the bum a few times. Returning home following a long shift in the emergency dept as a nurse she finds that she has no power. Attempting to rectify the situation herself by checking the fuse board leaves her thrown backwards, a sore bum and a singed hand. Turning to her best friend Chelsea and her boyfriend om she calls asking if she can stay the night – although there is already a houseguest at the flat, Tom’s brother Luke, so she’ll have to sleep on the sofa.
There is a history between Luke and Nadia, after hooking up for a one-night stand that leads to a few more meetups. Not telling her that he was separated was a mistake and caused Nadia to shut down anything between them. As a builder with his own company, Luke is best placed to help Nadia with her house woes, but she is reluctant to accept his help. Managing to get her a good quote for all the electrical work with the promise that he’ll be able to quote for the rest of the renovations she finally agrees to his help.
Nadia doesn’t do love, heck she’s not even interested in relationships. Preferring to keep things with no strings attached. Although she can’t understand why Luke’s betrayal bothered her so much. Attempting to work with him for the good of her house she can see different sides to him than what she had previously especially his relationship with his nine-year-old daughter, Esme. But whilst there is chemistry between them, can Luke ever get Nadia to realise that love isn’t such a scary thing?
Nadia Alvarez is a woman who likes casual relationships, but never wants to be in love. Luke is the man who entered into a not-so-casual relationship with her in the past and has never really gotten over her. Nadia has an old home in desperate need of remodeling, and Luke has a construction company.
While I really enjoyed this story, the only thing that really turned me off was the main character, Nadia. She came across as very cold and unlikable, while Luke came across as very sweet and was often treated incredibly rudely by Nadia. She didn't come across as independent as much as she just seemed like an unfeeling bitch. So much so that when she starts to fall for Luke, it doesn't really seem believable.
There are so many enjoyable characters in this novel, it is just a shame that the character we hear from most is painted in such a negative light.
Thank you so much to BWrite for giving me an e ARC of this novel via NetGalley in exchange for my honest review!
Nadia's new house is trying to kill her. She's been so focused on mitigating the termite damage, she hasn't gotten to the electrical system yet. But when she's almost electrocuted, she knows it can't wait. Good thing her best friend's brother-in-law is a builder who can help her fix up her house for a cheap price, thanks to his industry connections. The only problem is, she and Luke had a one-night stand months ago, and she swore she'd never let him near her again. Will she risk her heart for the sake of her dream house?
This steamy rom com is an enjoyable read with well-developed characters I couldn't help rooting for. There's a ton of chemistry between Nadia and Luke. She's a little on the wild side, not looking for a serious relationship. He's a responsible dad and business owner recovering from a divorce. I loved that opposites-attract vibe and how he helped her learn to be vulnerable.
Thanks, NetGalley, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.
I love a good rom com and this did not disappoint. "Enemies to lovers" is one of my all time favorite tropes and this book did that beautifully. I would have loved to see more spice added but that's just my personal opinion. 4⭐
This was a cute rom-com and easy read. If you enjoy the enemies to lovers genre then this book is for you. I always love when a books is set somewhere different and this book took us to Australia. I also love when a one time fling, Luke, lingers in the mind of our female character, Nadia. They dynamic between the two becomes more and more especially when Nadia is forming a bond with Luke's daughter. Overall, a good read. Could definitely had more spice to the story but it was enjoyable as it is too.
This is an entertaining light read with a great female protagonist and a sweet enemies-to-lovers romance. The conflict between the two main characters keeps the story interesting and family complications for each generate tension. The Australian setting also adds an intriguing layer to the story for a reader unfamiliar with that country.
Nadia, an emergency room nurse, navigates unwelcome feelings for her one-time fling, Luke, who wants to try again. Nadia's budding relationship with his daughter Esme is developing a tenuous trust between the three of them, but the course of true love is made rougher for the couple when Esme reveals to Nadia that her mother, Luke's ex, is planning to move her daughter out of the area without telling Luke and asks Nadia to keep the secret. Readers who enjoy contemporary romance with strong female characters will find plenty to appreciate as they root for Nadia and Luke to find their happy ever after.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing this ARC, I voluntarily signed up for it in exchange for an honest review!
Overall, I don't think this was a bad book but there were certain things that were missing for me. Most of the time I did not enjoy Nadia's character as I feel like she wasn't completely fleshed out like she could have been. It was like she had this whole reservation towards relationships but she never actually said or thought about why that really was. What I enjoyed about her was her banter with Chelsea and Luke, although at times she didn't come across as being close with her 'best friend'.
I thought that Luke was such a sweet love interest, I love that he is a hard working builder and father! I wish we could have found out more about why he chose to end his marriage. I think this book overall was just a little lacklustre and even the one spicy scene felt a little bland and not that hot.

In Spoilsport, we follow the story of Nadia and Luke, who are thrown together again after having gone out once several years earlier by her house being in serious need of repairs.
Honestly, this one just wasn't for me. My main issue with this book was that I did not relate to Nadia at all, and she just came across as immature and unreasonable throughout much of this book.... her basically icing out Luke because he did not immediately tell her on their first encounter that he was separated and had a child, and her complete denial with regards to her house and her love life were just... not cute... I don't really get what Luke really saw in her?
Also, the whole storyline was just far too cliché for me..
the name of the blog where my review will be published is goodreads and amazon.
the run date will be a week from when i read the book.
i loved this book and i definetly now want to read the first book. it was such a cute read. and i loved their relationship with eachother.
A strong independent woman who buys a shack of a house and gets mad at the lifesaver who wants to help her to make her dreamhouse. The ultimate love story it seemed. Was is that? Yes!!! The book is great. Two people who are evenly matched, a woman who loves gaming and is a hardworking nurse and a builder who does everything to win the heart of this woman by doing the work for a bargain. Humor and the strong characters made me laugh a lot a lot. Was it all fun? No, the story of the exes with a child in the middle sheds light on an actual problem and let people think. Stop fighting over a child. Since this was part 2 of the series, I now definitely want to read part 1. And it is now on sale in the apple bookstore for 0.99 ct.
Thanks @netgalley for the arc in exchange for an honest review. Thanks @belindawilliamsbooks for the opportunity to read this great book.

it was a nice and very quick read though it was a predictable story (which is not necessarily a bad thing) and some things were left unresolved. the writing flowed well and it was the main reason i read this in just one sitting. i have to say that nadia annoyed me a little bit sometimes but i also understand why she acted and thought that way. this book made me curious about the pierce brothers so i think i'll probably check out the books about the other brothers too.
As with much popular romance (moreover rom-com) reads, there is always one character who believes the concept of love and relationships is nothing more than fictional dreams, and another character who believes there will always be a chance for true love, even if it is towards a snarky individual who questions her life motives often.
Through these popular tropes filled with broody/sunshine individuals, I have found my favorite reads.
While Nadia wishes to swear off men, she will not be able to swear off the fact that her house is slowly falling into shambles, and there is little-to-no money to fix these issues. However, she pulls together what she can and hires someone for help.
Yet, she never expected the man to be Luke, the single and divorced father who fell in love with Nadia months prior on a one-night stand to fix her house.
Spoilsport has many elements I adore. There were moments where I laughed, moments I wanted to cry, and moments where I wanted to shake the main characters due to their idiocy. While there were moments I was confused regarding grammar and terminology (as the author writes the novel within UK English standards - which I have never read before), the story itself was enough to captivate me. I love characters that banter with a sense of humor, and the innocence Esme brought to the novel made me pout (children supporting their father’s love story is always cute). This story is a fast-paced, tension-filled read. While this book was a little cheesier than my typical reads, I still enjoyed it.
I would give this novel four out of five stars. If you enjoy romance novels, I recommend this book!
Thank you once again for the eARC!
This book was a cute and fast read! If you're a fan of enemies to lovers/second chance romance, this is the book for you! I loved the sexual tension between Luke and Nadia throughout the book and Nadia's sassy personality. Also, Luke's daughter, Esme, is the sweetest thing. I was happy we got to see Nadia and Luke in their element at work! Can't wait for the next book in the series!
Thank you Belinda and publisher for the eARC!
This was a cute contemporary, an easy read, a bit too fasted paced & predictable for my liking but still enjoyed it. Read it in 2 sittings. 🙂
This eARC was sent to me for review from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I voluntarily read an ARC of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I had been looking forward to reading this book after reading the first one in the series. The main characters Luke and Nadia had had a one night stand previously, and this story continues after Mr Nice Guy.
I enjoyed this book and the banter between the characters. I think the addition of Esme in the story, and Luke's profession definitely added to his overall appeal. Getting insights into Nadia's family also helped to understand her better.
The Nerf gun scene and the 'reveal' were probably my favourite scenes. The Nerf scene being hilarious and the 'reveal' being quite heartfelt.
I liked that it was based in Australia too.

The story
This book focuses on the oldest of the Pierce brothers, Luke. He is a divorced father to 8 year old Esme. In the first book in the series, Luke and Nadia enjoy a steamy one night stand. But things quickly go pear-shaped when she finds out he is separated from his wife and has a daughter he didn’t tell her about. But Nadia’s new (old) house is desperate for renovation, and Luke finds a way to help her do the work at a cost she can afford. Nadia agrees for him to do the work, but is she up for the relationship he wishes for?
My thoughts
I became really engrossed in this story…. I could almost picture the HGTV episode running with the cute cottage in need of repair and the sturdy builder suggesting the changes needed 😂 This story is a sweet read, with a very much enemies to lovers vibe. There is an element of the pair struggling to communicate their feelings but thankfully this doesn’t take up too much airtime. The pace is fast enough not to bore and the characters, friends who play board games, visit amusement parks and lovers who stage impromptu Nerf war keep the story active and fun. Super enjoyable read for me! 👍🥰
A great read, the second in this series.
Luke fell for Nadia once before, but she is clear that she doesn't do relationships, so will they get a second chance together?
I like how it is told from both of their points of view.
Can't wait for the next book.
Thank you very much BWrite for this eARC!.
Nadia isn't looking for love what she would love is to find someone to fix her and help her save this fixer-upper that is about to fall down.
And the guy for the job she swore she would ever talk to again!
Luke Pierce who is a divorced dad.
He has never quite gotten over the beautiful girl he had fallen way too hard for when they ended up having a on night stand.
Nadia doesn't want to think about the past she wants the job done!
More time these two spend together is bringing back these feelings and soon Nadia maybe feeling things too!
I loved all the characters!
I have a new fictional character man crush..... I could seriously picture him! 🔥
Nadia loved her sense of humor and she cracked me up!
Both are witty and funny and definitely enjoyable characters
When they both come to terms with what they are feeling...it could be too late.
I was immersed in the story from the beginning and didn't put the book down until I was done!
This book truly was such a fun read with characters full of heart that you so easily connect with.
Do yourself a huge favour and read this book now!!!!
I now need more Belinda Williams books!
Ms. Williams you have a new fan.
