This was a sweet read!
I enjoyed it and think overall it was a nice little escape from reality. Is this the best romance I've ever read....nope. Is it the worst? Also nope!
It falls in that category of being perfect for when you just need a sweet story and don't want to think too hard.
Thank you Harper 360, HQ for this wonderful ebook!
I loved this debut novel! Asking for a Friend by Andi Osho is a funny and light read.
I enjoyed all the characters and was really intrigued by them all.
This story is about friendships and romance!
A wonderful book starring three female best friends
Jemima’s, Meagan and Simi all very different and at different stages in their life!
Instead of using these dating apps....
These wonderful, outgoing ladies are going to start asking people out face to face.
But there is one catch.....
They aren't asking for themselves... They are playing Cupid for each other and can only ask dates for each other.
Their number one rule.... No woman gets left behind!
This book was seriously a hard one to put down.
It's the perfect mix of laugh out loud, uplifting, heartwarming romance that I needed!
I believe some readers will connect with either three of our characters.
They are real ladies looking for something.
What I enjoyed most here was their friendship. simple, cute, adoring!
Everyone needs this in their life!
Andi knocked it outta the park with this wonderful debut! And I'm very grateful in was able to read an eARC!
I will post to my platforms closer to pub date!
A large thanks to NetGalley & Harper 360 for providing me with this eARC in exchange for an open and honest review!
The synopsis of this book genuinely intrigued me (which is why I requested it). It sounded like the perfect summary to describe a new rom-com movie (probably featuring Ryan Reynolds). Overall, the message I got from this was friends who have decided to be their wing people.
However, I was a little surprised at the ages for such motivations.
When I think of the carefree, reckless, and overall sporadic dating lives within novels - I generally think of the age of 21-29, where life is a bit rocky. However, when I read our main characters were within their 40’s, it honestly made me lose some interest. Don’t get me wrong! We all go through a mid-life crisis and need to have some fun, so this book matched that theme perfectly. I merely believe I expected something more.
Also, the changes in POVs + repeated texts because of changed POVs were confusing at points. It reminded me of Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin, but with romcom specialties. It was a little hard to develop a true connection with the characters.
Overall, this was a decent, light romantic read. It wasn’t the best romance novel I have ever read, but it wasn’t the worst. There were funny moments where you giggled, other moments when you rolled your eyes, and final moments you were jealous of the love.
Overall, I would rate this 3.5 stars!
I kept waiting and waiting for this book to get better but unfortunately it didn't. The story centers around 3 best friends all in their 40's. These women acted like teenagers. I had to go back and find where it said how old Jemima was because I thought I must have misread where it said she was in her 40's. Also, there was very little romance in this book.
