I am NOT the target audience for this, so I am a little concerned on how it got sent to me when I did not request it or anything like that. HOWEVER< I will be sending my physical copy to my high school English teacher, because everything discussed in this book could hopefully inspire someone of the correct target audience.
This book to help empower our young women of color was absolutely fantastic, and I cannot wait to share it with several students.
This is an important work, a collection of essays that I think would be so valuable for teens, particularly teen girls in the BIPOC community. This is a powerful and moving collection that I wish was available in every high school library. This is the kind of work that we are talking about when we say that kids need to see themselves reflected in books.
A book for black girls and women of any age honestly. It was a quick and easy read. Good information, with very practical advice
This is a great book to gift to teen girls who are navigating fitting in, believing in themselves, and finding their voice. This book is for girls of color to encourage them to speak up and take up space. I love that a book like this exist for young people as too many times we don't talk about these topics until we are older.

A fantastic and powerful read for young girls, I loved every chapter and the positive messages on each one. A must read.
Thank you TLC Book Tours and Penguin Teen for this gifted copy.

I went into this hoping that this would be a book that I wish I had when I was younger and I'm so glad that it turned out that way. I would've gotten so much from this when I was younger.
This was a great read! I enjoyed it very much! (I am not the target audience) I found this to be an interesting read! The writing was well done
This was a great collection of essays that I honestly wish I had as a teen, especially as a Black Girl. It felt personal, like Minda was talking TO the reader rather than AT the reader. She relayed personal anecdotes that I could relate to as I have been in similar situations and I think it's really important that teens have advice going into some of the situations that Minda did as they venture out into the real world. I plan to get a copy for my Goddaughter as she will be graduating from High School this year! I also appreciate that she addressed caregivers and educators (specifically White educators) as there is a history of Black Girls not being heard in the way they deserve to be.
A very impactful and necessary book that will be great for girls of color to find their voice. I would definitely recommend this (and have to a few of my friends with younger children!)
From the first paragraph, I knew this book would be a good one. I immersed myself into the book from the first chapter and I cannot say enough good things about this book! Honestly amazing! The writing is incredible and the plot is just one to die for. I am absolutely obsessed with this book. My favorite part would have to be the character development throughout the book. Character development is something I look forward to and this book did not disappoint.
