Thiis is the 4th book in the series and my first time reading the author. I think it’s probably best to read the series in order.
This follows Paige and Jed.
This was fun and a bit of a wild ride! I laughed more than I expected to and thoroughly enjoyed the development of the relationship.
I plan on going back and reading this series in order.
Unfortunately I dnf’d this book. I had trouble getting into the story and I just didn’t care for the characters. It sadly wasn’t for me.
Thank you for the opportunity to read it!
[book:To Kiss a Demon|58907621] is a fun and sexy paranormal romance about a to-be wraith that's all sunshine and a shadow warrior that lives very comfortably in the dark. I got very large Eve Langlais vibes from this and I'm not mad at it.
Satan’s former Rivka, Paige Darlington, is turning into something. She's not quite sure what, but she knows it's not good. Suddenly, everyone from heaven and hell has her on their most wanted list.
Immortal assassin, Jed Buchanan, is tasked by Satan Jr. to off the beautiful but strange former Rivka. When the mission goes sideways, he is approached by said crazy and hot woman to help her. As the two work together, they find a connection that neither expected but fear they may never be able to live without it.
First and foremost, this can be read as a stand-alone book. I have not read any of the other books in the series and while I was a bit confused as to all the name droppings, I didn't feel like I couldn't figure out the near majority of the story.
I am a huge paranormal fan, so this book is way right up my alley. I also love plotlines that have the underdogs winning. It does back to my dancing to save the rec center youth (lived through watching 80's movies of course). As I said above, I got some very strong Eve Langlais vibes with the snarky humor and fun paranormal hijinx and the pretty steamy sexy times as well.
I quite enjoyed the book. The ending was a happily ever after that was super satisfying and I am definitely looking forward to more from the author. I am going to add her backlog to my TBR pile.
*ARC provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.*
After reading the blurb, I knew I had to try for an ARC of this book. Quitting as satan's minion? Count me in. This fast paced, funny book, was just what I needed after finding myself in a reading slump.
Well, the blurb definitely got me curious: a girl quitting her job from Satan?! Mmm, count me in! And it certainly was a hilarious story, with Paige being a badass chick, who is marching to the beat of her own drum. Good for her! Unfortunately, quitting Satan’s job isn’t that easy as she thought it would be. Since I hadn’t read the previouw books the story sometimes didn’t make sense. But, you’ll catch up before the end of the story. Jed has been tied to Satan Jr. (apparantly there is a Satan Jr. LOL) because he wants to save his brother.
The story is fastpaced, funny and cute. It is a easy read for in between some more serious books and it will certainly get you smiling a lot. Just a light snack, I would say. Three out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.
When Paige quit her job as Satan's minion, she thought she was finally free. But when she accidentally incinerates an angel, she discovers she's on the fast-track to becoming a soulless, evil wraith. When I started reading I couldn't put it down.Stephanie Rowe is magnifysent and amazing writer.I cannot wait to read more of there books.Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this books. Can't wait for the next book
This is a very sweet, funny and engaging story with likeable and relatable main characters. The pacing was good and the focus was very much on romance, rather than the paranormal aspects. I haven't read the previous books in this series of standalones but the author very cleverly sprinkled enough details for me to understand the world without having too many spoilers.
My preference veers more towards the UF, with some romance/sex***, than PNR but I found plenty of story in this book to entertain me. In fact this felt like a well written rom-com, cosy mystery, PNR mash up. A must read for all PNR fans.
***I know the purists will argue there is NO romance or sex in UF but there are plenty of books out there with those aspects in but where the emphasis remains on the plot NOT the romance.
This was a well-written, entertaining book. It was fast-paced, funny and steamy. It held my attention and I didn't want to put it down. I enjoyed this book and would be interested in reading other books by this author.
I love everything Stephanie Rowe writes but The Immortally Sexy series is where I first found her and her talent. I love paranormal and her ability to make the stories highly entertaining and laugh out loud funny make for great reading.
“…when she accidentally incinerates an angel…”. Seriously funny stuff! Paige has been so funny since she was first introduced. A child with the brains and body of an adult but the innocence of a toddler, she’s may be Satan’s but she’s got a heart of gold and sweetness about her. Jed is in the wrong place for all the right reasons. Love for his brother has him spending eternity as Satan Jr.’s minion. This mission to take out Paige isn’t going well. Can they find a way around their mutually horrendous fates?
The larger cast of characters has been a hoot since the first book introduced them. Mona, Theresa, Justine? They’re strong, independent women and they’re a blast and a half to watch. The men they are attracted to are equally kick butt (censoring myself here to save the big computers the trouble), sexy and the perfect partners to their women.
I can’t recommend this book, and the entire series, strongly enough if you at all like paranormal, suspense and humor. Rowe has masterfully wrapped all three genres into this entertaining book!
Thanks to the author and Valentine PR for the ARC.
This book is not something I would normally read in terms of the writing style. It is easy to read but I’m not a huge fan of the ‘chattiness’ of it.
I did really enjoy the story though and once I got past the writing style I found the character interesting and amusing! If the writing style is your cup of tea this book would be awesome for you!
When I requested this, I had no idea it was #4 in a series. And I wish I had. There were a lot of people we should have already known and things that happened previously that directly affect this book. That's not to say it doesn't work on its own, just that I'd have had a much better understanding of many things if I had read the first three.
This was a fun read with believable characters. The only reason I didn't round up was because I was never impatient to get back into it. But it really was enjoyable and the chemistry between the characters was quite entertaining.
Paige was a great character. No longer bound to serving Satan, she doesn't have to obey him anymore. But because of something that I think happened in a previous book she needs to be purified by angel. Which is hard for so many reasons. When she finally finds one, he freaks out as soon as he realizes what she is. And in her desperation for his help, she tries to stop him. Which ends up killing him. Oops. Now it's Paige's turn to freak out because she has absolutely no idea what just happened and now everything she touches dies. A trip to Satan reveals he has world ending plans that feature her turning into a wraith.
Jed is a shadow warrior contract bound to Satan Jr. Who also holds his brother's life in his hands...a life he had spent years horribly torturing. Jed hates pretty much everything about his life and only goes on in order to makes sure his brother doesn't get tortured even more. Jed was ordered to kill Becca, who was Satan's #1 Rivka (which I think is pretty much like a reaper) and Paige's mentor. But instead of her, Jed finds Paige.
From the moment these two meet, their lives are intertwined. Paige is beyond thrilled that she can finally touch someone without killing them, and she doesn't even care that that person is literally damned. So she desperately appeals to Jed to act as a sort of bodyguard for her. Basically, she wants him to make sure she doesn't go all wraith and kill everybody around her. Oh, and she wants to be able to touch him whenever she wants too. Jed has more than enough to deal with with his own life, but for some reason he can't tell Paige no.
Considering everything that these two go thru, it's amazing just how short of a time frame we get here. I think it was maybe two days? I'm not even sure. But they go to so many places and meet with so many people in order to find solutions for both of their problems. Unfortunately, nothing seems to ever work out in their favor and they always end up with more people after them. But with everything that happens, the connection between these two grows stronger when they find out more and more what the other is like. Really, Jed and Paige seemed to just work together perfectly. Which is good because they soon find out it's a race against time to prevent the world from ending.
I really liked how everything was worked out in the end. I was sure that it was going to be a "love conquers all" type of ending, and while that was true in one regard, it was definitely not how Paige was saved. Which was great. I also liked how things worked out with Jed's life. It was a very good end for these two.
A big thank you to NetGalley and Authenticity Playground Press for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is the 4th in a series (this is also a reprint/title change was originally Sex and the Immortal Badboy). There is definitely a backstory that is lacking, so I was confused as I didn't know the world or the characters. I have not read the others in the series. But still I enjoyed the book once I caught up. It made me laugh. Paige and the cast of characters are great fun. They are all fierce, loyal and immortal. Jed's brother Rafi needs an attitude adjustment. Geez.. Overall an interesting read. 3.5 stars. I think most paranormal romance readers who have read the others would enjoy this book. I do think they need to be read in order.
Jed is a shadow warrior and has a contract with Satan Jr. for his brother’s life. Instead he finds Paige in her bed. Satan has made a new kind of evil. Paige is a soul harvester but is in a little bit of trouble. When Paige accidentally kills an angel, she has a lot of people after her. Paige has an evil wraith inside her. Anything she touches dies, except Jed. If the wraith takes complete control, then she’ll be bad. Paige pays Jed to be her bodyguard, Satan Jr wants her to become a full wraith, and Satan wants her destroyed or she’s liable to destroy the world.
Excellent story with ups and downs. A virgin from hell meets a tortured assassin. Lots of action. A wild and bump ride. I really can’t figure out what I want to say. Satan and Junior crack me up. And sexual tension between Jed and Paige.
