The Tyrant Prince' is Book 2 of the Dreamhaven Duet and cannot be read as a standalone. Contains graphic sex and violence along with sensitive themes which could be triggering for some. Overall this was a fun, exciting book that gave me several hours of escapism and enjoyment.

I was really excited to receive this ARC and jump into the story. I didnt realize there was a book 1 when I originally requested this ARC, so I was pleasantly surprised and grateful that the author had included book 1 in the file. I also appreciate that the author included trigger warnings in this work as many people do not actively look up these potential triggers and then get blind sided when they appear in the writing.
I thought I was going to enjoy the book more than I actually did. I wished the characters were further developed because even after reading both books, I felt like I only had a surface level understanding of the characters. I also felt that a lot of the plot was done for shock value to the readers and I would have liked to see how the characters would have actually worked through these problems in a more effective manner.
Omg... What a great book!! Such a page turner from page 1 til the very end! Would definitely recommend it to others
Thank you Netgalley and ZS Storm for my copy of The Tyrant Prince. This review is 100% my own.
Summed up: Not for me.
There are people out there that will enjoy this series. I enjoyed the modern take on Oliver Twist and Count of Monte Cristo, but my enjoyment began and ended there.
What the books provide you: Trigger warnings, yes upon opening the book your are warned of its content. I went in forewarned, but still not ready. There is explicit content in this book, rape and sexual assault, physical and mental abuse, deprivation, etc. The book is taboo in the extreme. All of which seemed excessive and unnecessary in telling the story.
What the book needs: An editor. It needs someone to streamline the story and develop these two dimensional characters. There are so many grammar errors that at times I found it difficult to read (and not because of the content, which considering it was a wonder to me). I am def the kind of person who can appreciate some spice in a romance, but the romance and intimacy in this series was definitely over-shadowed by the fickleness of the characters, and the inconsistencies with their personalities. One minute they'd say one thing, and a chapter later they would be making excuses on why not to do, say or be that way.
Overall, for me it was a headache. I hope your journey is better.
This was the perfect sequel to the first book. I loved how the characters changed and hardened emotionally from the first book. Both of the main characters went through a ton of hardships during the 8 years between the books and grew into strong characters that could take care of themselves and wanted the best for each other. I loved that even though Oliver learned how to speak, it was not as big of a deal as I thought it was going to be, He was treated like a normal person instead of someone that beat an incredible obstacle. I thought that the darkness of Oliver allowed for him to be incredibly strong even though on the inside he was struggling. He wanted those higher up in society to feel afraid of him and he accomplished that. I felt so bad for Paige and everything she was forced to go through to make her father not hurt her and her son. Even though in the first book she is seen as the rich, perfect girl, the second book shows that not everything is what it seems.
This is a GREAT book. Full of suspense and intrigue, lots of heart pounding moments wonderig what was going to happen next. The love story within presents the question, what is greater: hate or love? I couldn't put this one down. Highly recommend both books in this duet, it's a powerful story!
*** WARNING **** - The Tyrant Prince, can not be read as a standalone and is book two in the DreamHaven series. This does have some graphic violence but with that being said, it was an incredible read and I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves erotic thrillers!
The story continues for Paige and Oliver and its one you do not want to miss, especially if you read The Stable Boy. At times I was aggravated at Paige for everything she was putting Oliver through. The amount of abuse that Oliver had already been through was enough.
I do not want to say too much and spoil this book but I can tell you that this is one you do not want to miss! I absolutely loved this book!
“The world was my hell, and she ruled it like the devil.”
Love the covers on this duet! Part one was really uncomfortable for me since I hate bullying but part two was really out the box for me. Author goes into graphic details so be ready.
What did I like? I’ll admit I didn’t think part two could redeem Paige but I think karma handled her well. I think by the time the book ended everyone had deserved their comeuppance and I felt everything was on an even enough pace that the book could be considered a HEA.
It was a hard road for them both but all ended right.
Would I recommend or buy? I’d definitely recommend to people who love really dark romance. There are graphic dealings with m/m rape that could be a trigger. I would have bought this duet and I gave it five stars just for the difficulty level of writing about some of this stuff.
I received a complimentary copy to read and voluntarily left a review!
This is book 2 of the Dreamhaven Duet, book 1 was a cliffhanger. The book is compelling, I had to keep reading it even though I cringed through a lot of it. I cringed because of the truth of some of the scenes, the tragedy and pain that people with disabilities can be subjected to. However, it was also a book of recovery, and the powr of kindness and real love.
Thankyou to NetGalley for providing this copy in exchange for my unpaid, honest review.
