A fun sweet read! Highly recommend.
Many thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for my ARC.
Unfortunately I did not finish this book. It started well and I was enjoying it but ultimately, the slow burn was just a little too slow.
This has been on my NetGalley shelf for over a year, and I still haven’t picked it up. I've tried, but it just isn't for me (right now). I hope other people enjoy it more than I did.
Perfect book to get you in the Holiday spirit with family traditions, love and friendship.
When it comes to Christmas, the Whitleys are all in, as they celebrate their tradition of the Eight Days of Christmas. After being gone 10 years, Isabella is planning to come home for the Holidays to celebrate and stand by her sisters side as her maid of honor at Norah’s wedding on Christmas Day. Little did she know a snowstorm might get in the way and sidetrack her into a last minute road trip home instead of the quick flight she had planned. As things would have it , she couldn’t believe her eyes when she ran into her ex-boyfriend, Leo in the airport while she was demanding to be on the next flight home. They ended up renting the last car available and driving home to Pineridge, Colorado together. Things were a bit edgy and bitter as they began their journey. Leo was hurt and angry, he just couldn’t understand why Isabella never came back from New York after she finished college. He was heartbroken.
The Eight Days of Christmas takes you through a families traditions and intertwines the family relationships, current and some with a history. Isabella and Leo are the front and center of this Holiday venture as they rekindle old feelings and see where it takes them. She left behind her most recent ex (Harrison) in New York who has now decided he wants to commit. Isabella needs to decide, will she return to New York or reunite with Leo and all they had before. There are a few twists but mostly a fun, uplifting, lighthearted read. Thanks @starladekruyf for this festive Holiday read!
Thanks NetGalley for the ARC.
I really adored this book. The story was flowing well but then the ending felt a bit abrupt and did not land well. Looking forward to the next one.
I love a good RomCom.. add Christmas and family and I am hooked. Isabella Whitley is heading home to Colorado after being away for years. Her sister is getting married and she can’t miss it. She is excited about everything at home. The only thing is her ex is there. They haven’t seen each other since HS graduation. Leo Hoffman, is the neighbor ex. He is as anxious as Isabella to see each other. He tries to act all cool and aloof but he can’t really hide his feelings.
Once home Isabella, falls back into her family routine. Her parents celebrate the 8 days of Christmas. Each day has an activity or competition and Isabella loves to win.
While enjoying the 8 days, there is also a wedding being planned. Things are so hectic Isabella and Leo can’t help but be together. And if they are together, they might as well get along. This is the cutest story of love and forgiveness. Of mistakes made and assumptions made. Can this wedding go off without a hitch? Can Isabella and Leo find their way back together? This was a quick read. I enjoyed the story and the characters. Eight Days of Christmas,by Starla DeKruyf, has all the elements of a great story. This was a four star read for me. I want to thank Netgalley & the author for my copy for an honest review. It was my pleasure to read and review it. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
This wasn't a hit for me. The writing was not my style and I found myself turning to other titles while I was in the midst of reading it. Sadly, this didn't work for me.
This was a cute romance. I really felt the Christmas vibe. The main characters had a lot of chemistry. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.
I wish I read this closer to Christmas because I think I would've enjoyed it even more. I really loved the characters and the plot of this story. I didn't see the twist coming and I loved that about it.
I started this book and found that I really could not connect with it. I feel like it may have been one of those “right book wrong time” situations where it wasn’t what I needed, but I chose to put it down. Therefore, I cannot give a true star rating.
3.75/ 5 - Spice: 2/5 - Book #1 of Pineridge Series.
Yes, yes I did wait over a year and a quarter to read an ARC of this book. HOWEVERE, as par for the course, I really enjoyed this book! I loved all of the Christmas activities, and the second-chance romance wasn't as cringey as I sometimes feel they can me. Isabella and Leo have chemistry I felt through the book, and the secondary characters (which I hope get their own books) were entertaining as well.
Brief Plot: Isabella is home for the first Christmas in ten years, because her sister is getting married to her ex-boyfriend's brother. As Izzy and Leo have to spend time together, starting with a road trip, plus all her families Christmas events, Leo is insistent that he wants to know WHY Izzy broke up with him, and never came home. Or did she? What happened 0 years ago, and can Leo get a second chance to earn Izzy's love?
Thank you NetGalley and City Owl Press, for an eARC copy of Eight Days of Christmas, written by Starla DeFruyf.
I absolutely ADORED this book! It's so swoony, funny, cozy and festive. And Leo is just everything! I felt like it could've been a bit shorter, bit overall absolutely loved it!
Just read Eight Days of Christmas by Starla DeKruyf and oh my gosh it gave me the cozy winter romcom feels just like a sweet Hallmark Channel movie. The second-chance lovers storyline combined with lots of cute holiday outings made for a sweet, funny, and sexy romance novel. I can't wait to see this as a movie because it has to be.
Lovely feel good book to read. It was a joy to read. Lovely characters. Great plot. The book was charming. Very well written. I’d definitely recommend this book. Idyllic location that set the tone of the book to perfection. Perfect seasonal book to get you in the mood for the festive season.
I loved the small town feel of this book. The only issue with a small town is that people are more judgemental. I felt like her family did not really support her at all because she left to pursue a life in NYC.
I love second chance romances and thought it was sweet but the characters did leave a little to be desired.
This was such a great Christmas romance! I love reading Christmas books all year long and this was just what I needed for Christmas in July! Highly recommend!
Such a sweet little festive read! Very cosy and great comedy moments, the writing was a little off and characters a little done but still enjoyable!
Second chances and Christmas… what’s not to love?
Love the Friends references in this one. The funny banter was so good, too.
I think my favorite part of this book though was Isabella’s family. They were all about Christmas and it reminded me of Christmas obsessed family.
This had lots of drama and I like how it was set up for the next one in the series!
I would just like to say a big thank you to NetGalley who very kindly forwarded me an arc copy of this book, for my Kindle, in return for my honest review.
This book was the perfect Christmas read(and I do love a Christmassy book!!) and was full of all the festive vibes.
In this book we follow Isabella who goes home for Christmas to help celebrate her sisters wedding. Then, in enters Leo, who Isabella left behind a decade ago, with no explanation and yes he is still bearing a grudge - which only adds to the fun!!
Eight Days Of Christmas was the perfect Christmas rom-com and also included the second chance trope, which I absolutely love.
It was so easy to read and it just kept me wanting to read more and more and now I can’t wait until the next instalment…….
I think I was missold this book, from the cover it seemed like a cute rom com but sadly it's anything but, and this did make me lose interest in the book rather quickly. I also didn't warm to Izzy at all and found her incredibly hard going.
Overall, not one for me.
