I received this book for free for an honest review from netgalley #netgalley
Very intriguing dark and happy on the edge of my seat for the entire ride.
For not having read the first three books of the saga, I was able to understand what was going on and follow the plot of the final novel. I may not have been able to relate to the characters and understand their motivations as much as if I had read the whole series, but I could understand their motivations and why what they were doing was so important. I loved the writing style that the author chose. I thought that it worked to tell the multiple different sides of the story. It was interesting to see that all of the characters had a role in the story and that all of the roles were important to getting to the final battle. Even the minor characters that were only seen briefly were incredibly important to the story. I really want to go back and read the first three books to get a better understanding of what got them to where they were and relate to the characters more.
When a book has a gorgeous cover like this I want to like it, unfortunately, after several attempts to pick it up, I wasn't able to get engaged. There's too much going on too quickly making it a difficult thing to follow.
I tried to read this book multiple times, but I can't get past page 40-50 as I am so confused. It may be due to the fact that I haven't read the first three books of the series but if you ask me what happens in THIS book, I still have no idea. There are just so many characters already in the first few pages who are not handled well and I truly hoped I'd enjoy this because the premise sounded amazing, but I really can't get a grasp on the story.
I'm going to give it the neutral rating of 3 stars because I'm not sure whether I would have been able to enjoy this more had I read the first three books.
“The magic is almost like an extension of yourself,” Lexan explained as he braced his arms against the counter. “Like an extra hand to help you, or like an extra eye to see farther… like a dream that helps you see into someone else’s mind.” -- M. Dalto
Thank you to Parliament House Press for giving me a copy in exchange for an honest review!
Okay, so let's try doing this without being too spoilery because wow what a great 4th and final book to this series.
We pick up just at the end of the third book and just dive right back into the action. We get romance, we get magic, we get lots of talking about what is actually going on -- the pieces we've been missing explaining everything.
The world felt more complete to me in this one just because so many things were explained. This whole series had Game of Thrones meets Outlander vibes for me and I was definitely all about it.
The final ending to this series wrapped up pretty neatly. Well, still messy, but just the right amount of messy if that makes sense? But it had me gripping the edge of my seat, er, well, my pillow because I was laying down. But nevertheless, I was hanging on every word, watching it unfold.
This series has been a wild ride and an emotional rollercoaster. So many things. So many people. This review is super difficult to write without spoiling anything, but if you've been reading since book 1, then you definitely need to finish this series up. It was fast-paced, filled with crazy world building, and filled with memorable characters.
Incredible! Awesome! So spectacular! Can not even find the words to describe how fantastic this book is! Absolutely everyone should read this book. I give it 10 Stars and more!! PLEASE read this one. My absolute favorite book of 2021!!!
I didn't do any proper research and just requested this book because it looked pretty and the description sounded cool. Now it turns out it's book four in a series and I couldn't understand most of the pages that I've read. Should've paid better attention 🤦🏻♀️
