This book was okay.
About 15 years ago, this book would have been part of "chick lit" reading, which for some reason has gotten a bad rap.
The problem I have with this book is twofold: too many characters that are not well defined and pacing.
Why do authors have such problem with pacing? This book could have been great as I am STILL a lover of chick list, but the writing is too slow for me.
I absolutely loved this! What a fantastic plot, beautifully written, intertwining the relationships between the characters in such an ingenious and realistic way. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This book is a reprint from a book written in 2003, and it shows. I am assuming (yeah, I know what they say about the word assume!LOL!) that this book is getting ready to come out with a new publisher and perhaps as an e-edition. Some books can overcome the world's changes and roll with them; this book could not.
Fashionistas has been compared to The Devil Wears Prada -close but no cigar. The characters ALL of them were dislikable, and all of them deserved what they got except for Vig. She deserved worse.
*ARC supplied by the publisher.
This book is an easy fun read for those who enjoy books like The Devil Wears Prada or The Nanny Diaries. It takes the trope of “intelligent young woman stuck in job with terrible boss” and adds some details from the author’s own experiences. The result is a rather entertaining read.
Light hearted reading at it's best, if your looking for the next Devil Wear's Prada, this is a book for you.
What a hoot and what a pleasure to read. Definitely a winner!
In Fashionistas we find Vig working at a cut-throat magazine that is not very kind where she has moved up the ladder
It has humor, mystery, backstabbing and some flirting. Overall, the characters are well-crafted and believable especially in a place like "Fashionista"
Highly recommend this book.
