I read The Worst Best Man right before diving into this one, and oh this series is just so good! Hilarious, sweet, dynamic characters that you'll feel like you know in real life by the time you turn the last page.
Solange Pereira is helping out her cousin (Carolina from the first book) with a wedding when she overhears the bride-to-be in the stairwell with someone who is definitely not the groom. She should probably mind her business, but she can't help but say something...during the ceremony.
Dean Chapman is a planner. He values stability above all else, and his marriage of convenience was going to be just what he needed to move to the next stage of his life. At least, he thought it was, until this stranger ruins their big day. With his wedding ruined, he becomes the object of office gossip and his chances of making partner seem to be on the rocks. He needs to turn this whole situation around, so he enlists Solange to pretend to be his serious girlfriend...it's the least she could do really.
The more time they spend together the more they realize that their perspectives and plans for the future may not actually be serving them. But is it too late to give this relationship a real try?
I loved both Dean and Solange so much, along with all the amazing supporting characters too. I can't wait to read more by Mia Sosa!
This was a cute rom-com. I loved her first book in this series, The Worst Best Man, though my recollections of it were vague (I read too much!). I was excited for this book and although I did not enjoy it as much as The Worst Best Man, I really liked the backstories of the characters both struggling to try and figure their lives/futures out, while dealing with work pressures, family pressures, etc. I also loved the cultural information throughout. So nice to not always have a white female lead (even though I am a white female!).
4.5/5 Stars!! I loved this book from the very beginning!! It made me laugh, cry, and everything in between! I became so emotionally invested right off the bat!! I am immediately going to read anything and everything by Mia Sosa!!!!
Let me preface this by saying: it's rare when a sequel is just as good if not better than the original. And the Wedding Crasher IS BETTER.
I loved Worst Best Man, I adored the Brazilian immigrant representation, the dynamics between the family, and the angst + spiciness throughout. But Wedding Crasher had me laughing from the first page and continued to have me at the edge of my seat for the entirety of the book. Solange's wit is what I aspire to develop for myself, she's so freaking funny and I love that Dean appreciates her for who she is.
This story has the best fake dating trope I've read to date because it didn't have me stressed out the whole time, it has the organized+chaotic mess dynamic, a sex party 👀, a canceled wedding, a marriage of convenience, highlights the importance of giving back to the community you are a part of--especially if it includes family, and if I didn't make it clear: is funny AF
10000/10 recommend!

Thanks to NetGalley and Avon Books for the ARC in exchange for an honest review and the opportunity to read this work of art.
I read an advance copy from Avon and Harper Voyager through NetGalley. This less-than-glowing review is only my opinion (and thanks for the chance to read it!)
The books has SO many positives: diverse characters and settings, large family with tight-knit relationships, and noble, selfless careers that serve the community.
I enjoyed the fresh characters: no posing, authentic. The premise is that Solange and Dean will help each other out without getting serious. Author Sosa pulls that off pretty well (the reader goes in knowing they WILL get serious).
My problem with the book is that those authentic main characters carry things where I am not comfortable going. And an uncomfortable book is one I leave behind, even if I'm halfway through it. So on to the next book, but I'm still grateful for the chance to try out this new release.
I absolutely LOVED this sexy, hilarious fake dating rom com. Dean and Solange seem like polar opposites, but I loved seeing them form such a natural connection. I especially appreciated that they formed a genuine, solid friendship while navigating their fake relationship … of course, they catch feelings and things get lusty too but I truly felt their connection. This book just ticked all my boxes, and has definitely become an early standout for this year’s reads. I think — no, I know I loved this one even better than the first book in this series. Dean and Solange are just the best.
I absolutely loved The Wedding Crasher by Mia Sosa. A great follow-up to The Worst Best Man, this story gives us two characters to love and root for. It was sweet, funny, sexy, and romantic. Thank you to Netgalley and Avon and Harper Voyager for providing me this ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Solange finds herself the center of attention at Dean's wedding as she objects to the marriage between him and his bride, Ella. After the failed marriage, Dean needs Solanges help to earn a promotion at work. The fake dates have real chemistry and the book flows like a Hallmark movie.
This is an outstanding, funny book! It features a well done fake girlfriend trope, and the characters of Solange and Dean are very convincing.in their roles. I loved the characters, and enjoyed seeing their their relationship progress. All the pother characters are charming and funny.
I can imagine Dean’s surprise when he realizes that Solange is important to him, she’s definitely not part of his plan.
It’s a great read that will make you smile, 4.5 stars.
5 out of 5 steam level
3 ish stars
This one started off strong for me, minus the repetitive sentiments that hopefully will be fixed at the time of publication.
But the steam level ended up being too high for my liking and I eventually didn’t vibe with the book overall.
There is some cross over from the authors other books in this, that her avid readers will enjoy.
I liked this book, enough. Rounded up to 4 stars from 3.75. I wasn’t aware that this was a second book in a series but it did stand alone as well. Unfortunately I had JUST finished another fake dating book that was done a little bit better that I enjoyed more. This I was just okay.
This book came to the front of my kindle app exactly when I needed a book like this! It is light and sweet with enough substance to keep it interesting. If you're looking for a palette cleanser between heavier books, this is it.
I really loved Solange and Dean together, including all the banter and how they each tried to stay away from each other before finally admitting what they want - swoon!
I hadn't read the first book in this series before reading this one, and while I imagine that would have enhanced the experience - especially when previous characters made cameos here, but it could also be read as a stand alone and I never felt confused because of it.
I apologize first of all for any mistakes in my English.
WHAT A BOOK MY LOVES!!!!
Last year, one of my favorite reads was The Worst Best Man, so when I heard that this book was coming out and that arcs were available, I rushed to sign up. And the experience couldn't have been better.
Just for context: Solange, who is Lina's cousin - the protagonist of TWBM, ends up interrupting Dean's wedding and preventing it from happening. The whole thing is a mess, including why he was getting married, seeing as it was just for convenience. With the bride out of the picture and Dean needing someone to fill the role of his companion to resolve some issues in his work, it's up to Solange to fill that place. Since she was responsible for him being in this situation.
I have to say that this book won me over from the first pages. Perhaps even more so than TWBM. Solange is an extremely endearing character: she's fun, funny, sarcastic. In many moments I saw myself in it, and this goes far beyond the fact that we are black and Brazilian women. The whole way she was built, her fears and insecurities, her relationship with her family, her friends and her job. All of this made me fall in love with her and see a lot of myself in the character.
And even though Dean appeared on TWBM, I have to confess that I remember little of him and his interactions with Max. And maybe that was a good thing, after all I could see him in a new light, discover that even though he was a serious guy, organized (get organized) and determined, he could also be as funny and entertaining as Solange.
I loved that even before there was any feeling between them, a friendship relationship was built. Of course there was an attraction there in between, but above all they were friends. And when things started to heat up between them.... I'll just say that, like everything else in his life, this part Dean executes very perfectly.
There is one scene between them in particular that made me feel the heat emanating from the pages it was so hot. And absolutely nothing happened between them there, but the intensity of it all... SO HOT!!!
Like TWBM, this book is a slowburn and that only makes it that much better because each protagonist's fears and insecurities could be worked out in the best possible way. Both are afraid of what love can do to them, of how vulnerable they can be, especially having seen what happened to their mothers on other occasions. So it's wonderful to see them working all this out.
And before I finish: I need to highlight how much I love the moments between Solange and her family and all the references to Brazil and its cuisine. I could see a lot of my family and my relationship with my aunts and cousins there.
With this book, Mia Sosa has carved out her place in my heart as one of my favorite authors, and I am very honored to have had the opportunity to read this book in advance in exchange for an honest review. I can't wait for your next releases. Will we see any stories about Jaslene? I'm looking forward to this!
Thanks Mia Sosa, Avon Books and Netgalley for this advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
I’m not exactly sure how to rate this book because there wasn’t anything wrong with it, it just wasn’t anything spectacular for me. Fake dating in contemporary is already a hard sell for me and I just didn’t quite understand it in this instance. Why don’t people just tell the truth? Why all the lies? I don’t get it.
But overall this book was cute and a bit slow at times and I liked the grand gesture at the end.
I loved The Worst Best Man by Mia Sosa but The Wedding Crasher was just sooo good. Dean and Solange had such great chemistry and witty banter it was so enjoyable to read. Mia Sosa is an auto-buy author for me now!
In Sosa’s follow-up to The Worst Best Man, the protagonists are fiercely independent which makes it even more entertaining when they’re forced to fake their relationship. The humor is there, and the plot is fun. Plus, fake relationships and dating usually make me chuckle, and this didn’t disappoint.
When Solange, who is hired to help at a wedding, overhears something the bride says right before the ceremony, she thinks it’s only right to speak up during the service and prevent the groom from a horrible mistake.
From there it goes into a page-turning situation that kept me smiling and wanting more. I was surprised and happy that this romance was more of a slow burn, get-to-know-you, love story.
My Concerns
While this had some fun places and kept my interest, I wish these types of books didn’t feel the need to be so sexually descriptive and suggestive. That was my biggest concern. However, I do know this is what many read romances for. But I’d like a rom-com to be filled with the fun and humor and let things be left to the imagination and happen behind closed doors.
Final Thoughts
If you’re on the hunt for a lighthearted and enjoyable beach read with some steamy scenes, this is a must-read for spring.
My thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ability to read this early release (I’m late posting since it’s available now), and post my thoughts.
This was a fun one! Solange is a teacher who's been roped into helping her wedding planner cousin execute a wedding day. But when Solange overhears the bride confessing her undying love to the best man, she knows she has to step in. She interrupts the wedding and is shocked when the groom is less than crushed. Dean, the groom, is a lawyer who doesn't believe in romance. His aborted wedding was one of compatibility but not love. He's not heartbroken, but he is faced with a new problem: he is tasked with wooing a prospective new partner to his law firm and his boss doesn't think he can do that as a newly single man. So he calls in Solange to act as his fake girlfriend. Who'd have guessed, but the feelings start to fly!
I enjoyed this one, but didn't LOVE it. The chemistry felt a little unnatural, like it needed a bit more of a slow burn. I liked both characters but didn't feel like I really got to know them very well. I wanted to hear more about Dean's pro bono work and Solange's teaching and Brazilian roots. I LOVED Solange's family and all the discussion of delicious sounding Brazilian food.
All in all a solid rom com! Thanks to NetGalley and Harper Collins Avon for providing the free ARC in exchange for an honest review.
In the fake dating troupe, this one hits a home run. Fake dating can be tricky but this one is done so right.
Solange stepped in to help her cousin at the wedding she’s planning and overhears the bride and what is she to do? Stop the wedding, of course!
.
Dean is recovering from the wedding but still focused on making partner. His boss dangles promotion in front of Dean and in a moment of panic Dean claims he’s dating Solange and Dean quickly calls in his IOU.
.
A great secondary cast of characters, especially the Tias, Brandon and Kimberly and Nia, really added to this book. I also loved how close the cousins were in this as they rallied around each other.
.
Thank you @avonbooks and @netgalley for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review
This book was so good. I really enjoyed it. Fake dating and one bed trope! I felt like the chemistry between Solange and Dean was so good. The friendship they developed from the fake dating is something that really had me hooked. I loved the mutual pining between them both. The funny moments in this book were fantastic. Solange crashes a wedding, and then enters into a fake dating agreement with the groom who doesn’t believe in marriage.
*thank you to NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.
Thank you to @avonbooks for providing me with a review copy. I ADORED THIS BOOK SO MUCH.
.
-Fake dating
-laughs
-one bed/ forced proximity scenes
-family shenanigans/ friends meddling
-opposites attract
-mentions of yummy Brazilian food
.
Ok this was an amazing blend of fun and steamy. Dean and Solange are completely opposites. Sean likes structure and likes his life planned out for him meanwhile Solange has a harder time putting down roots. When Dean is about to check off getting married off his list Solange crashes his wedding and stops it! YUP! She stops it!!
.
They end end up fake dating when Dean realizes that he might not be given a task that would help him on his path to possibly becoming a partner at his law firm. THEN not only do they have to fake date in front of his coworker but also her family which include her tias! The tias are epic! The lines between real and fake start being blurred.
.
From being propositioned by a swinger couple to Dean doing Karaoke / dancing to Pony by Ginuwine to them making fake sexy noises to get Solange’s cousin to quiet down her sexy time in the next room, you are entertained from beginning to end! READ THIS!
