4.5 stars. A fake dating romantic comedy that actually made me laugh out loud.

Solange always seems to attract disaster and the wrong guy. But when she oversees the bride at a wedding confessing her love to a man who is not the groom, she can't help but interfere. So she interrupts the wedding. But then it turns out the groom Dean isn't all that torn up about his soon-to-be wife picking someone else. However, he needs a ends up needing a partner for an assignment to get a promotion at work, so he asks Solange to pretend to be his girlfriend for a few weeks. As they spend more time together, though, it starts to feel a lot less fake.

First off, this series and all the characters (especially Solange's family) are amazing. They are meddling and nosy and always 100% there for each other. As readers, we also get a taste of Brazilian-American culture. Solange was also an interesting person to follow. She doesn't know exactly what she wants out of life, but she has a very clear moral compass and things she doesn't want. I can understand every decision she makes, even when I don't agree with them. Dean is basically her exact opposite, being totally obsessed with following his life plan, leaving no times for deviations or love. I can also understand his motivations. I appreciate that he never lies to Solange. They really respect each others' views even when they disagree and it's interesting to see them help each other grow (even when they don't know that's what they're doing).

Overall, I definitely recommend this book to anyone who enjoys fake dating or even contemporary romance in general. This story very much follows in the same vein as The Worst Best Man and is a great book to enjoy when you want a chance to laugh and be happy. I can't wait to see what else Mia Sosa releases!

I’m just going to put it out there, if you look at the cover of this book and think it’s going to be some sweet little rom-com, get that sh*t out of your head right now. The cover of this book does not do this book justice at all, The Wedding Crasher is a fantastic story about life, love, and how people look at both differently based on past experiences. This was my first book my author Mia Sosa, but I am now a HUGE fan and I cannot wait to go back and read some of her other works.

Solange Perreira is helping her cousin out at a wedding when she sees the bride with another man minutes before the ceremony. While she’s not sure exactly what’s going on, she knows the bride is in love with someone else. She doesn’t mean to be that person who doesn’t hold her peace, but she can’t help herself. After apologizing to the groom, she tells him she is there for him if he needs anything. What she doesn’t expect is him to ask her to be his fake girlfriend to help him recruit a new lawyer to the firm he works at so he can make partner. Even more shocking is she thought him a bit bland so she really doesn’t expect to find him so intriguing.

Having a stranger stop your marriage of convenience wasn’t on Dean Chapman’s wedding bingo card nor was having that stranger feel so bad that she offers her help if he ever needs it. He’s not sure he’s making the best decision when he asks her to play his fake girlfriend, but he’s out of ideas after telling his boss and colleagues that he’s dating so soon after his wedding disaster, and he really needs their fake relationship to be convincing in order for him to make partner. Spending time with Solange isn’t a hardship and he knows she is unlike anyone he’s ever met, but they have some fundamental differences. While she found his almost marriage of convenience ridiculous due to the fact he doesn’t believe love is necessary for a partnership he can’t help but like her. The crazy thing is the more time they spend together, the more he wonders if maybe he’d never met the right person before.

This was a complicated story with many layers but that kept it exciting and entertaining. Once I started this book, I found it impossible to put down. While this couple was awkward around one another at the start, they found some common ground, formed a friendship, and found they truly enjoyed seeing each other and spending time together. As their relationship was fake, there was no need for pretense they were free to be their true selves with one another and in doing so they found they admired and liked each other immensely. While Solange enjoys jobs that allow her to travel she loves the school she is interning especially since it allows her to be close to her family. She’s a go with the flow, fly by the seat of your pants kind of girl while Dean is uptight, has very regimented goals for his career and life, and isn’t very spontaneous. Solange pushed Dean out of his comfort zone which was quite fun to watch and honestly his ability to adapt took Solange by surprise.

Ms. Sosa does not pull any punches and puts these characters through their paces, she puts them in some interesting scenarios and watching them deal with what is going on was fascinating. The more time they spend together the chemistry between them builds and given their arrangement they hold off for quite a while, but once they let go things heat up and get very interesting.

From Solange’s mom, her tias, her cousins, their significant others, and her roommate, Brandon, to Dean’s co-workers, the secondary characters were hard to ignore and added so much fun and liveliness to this story. They are interesting and make this story all the richer, and one makes a great antagonist.

The Wedding Crasher was a masterful romance, from the first chapter I couldn’t put it down. It was easy to feel every emotion that came from these characters, shake your head at the craziness of the family, and impossible not to love watching two seemingly very different people find love.

Thank you Netgalley for the advanced reading copy! I loved Mia Sosa’s first in this series, and this book did not disappoint. This is a super sweet and sexy contemporary romantic comedy that had me laughing and swooning throughout. Solange crashes a wedding ceremony after helping with the set up and make up, only to figure out that the bride is having doubts about marrying a lawyer named Dean. Through a series of chaotic events, Solange and Dean end up fake-dating after the wedding is canceled, and comedy, steam, and romance ensue. I thought that the author Sosa did a great job of making Dean and Solange likable through a complicated series of fake-dating scenarios - which is sometimes hard to do. I thought the story was nicely paced and easy to read, which made the experience enjoyable. I think one of the best parts of this book is the loving Brazilian family dynamic, particularly between Solange and her mom, cousins, and aunts. Another great thing is that Brazilian food is heavily featured, and the descriptions made me hungry throughout the story. Overall, I highly recommend this lovely book to fans of contemporary romantic comedy, fake-dating, and open-door scenes.

Fake dating will always be one of my favorite tropes. I love to see how different authors make the trope their own and Mia Sosa does a wonderful job of making t o very different characters come together in the wackiest way and FALL IN LOVE!!!!! love it

This might be my favorite romance of the year so far! With the fake dating, family dynamic, and great writing, this was such a fun book to read. Solange and Dean felt like they complimented each other well while being strong characters on their own. This was such a cute, funny, and occasionally steamy romcom that I would absolutely recommend.

Thank you Netgalley and Publishers for an advanced copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

I didn't enjoy this novel as much as I thought I would given I love the fake dating trope. The premise was enticing but I found the execution to be a tad all over the place. I don't know what it is about this series that while I love the synopsis, the premise, the family dynamics, the romantic story always falls short. The second half of this novel especially had some moments that while humorous felt out place with the romantic storyline. Then some of the earlier scenes were rather boring after the initial exposition. I was hooked until I wasn't.

Without going into spoilers, I don't think this author's writing style is for me, and I don't plan to continue this series/novels by this author, but I hope to continue reading more books by other authors from this publisher.

Solange and Dean are all wrong for each other…except they are perfect for each other!

Despite her cousin and his best friend being madly in love, Dean and Solange don’t meet until she’s stopping his wedding! Now they both need a fake significant other and the other fits the bill because the emphasis is on FAKE. But as the two get to know each other things don’t feel so fake.

I loved Dean’s rules and lists and how Solange makes him reconsider everything while he also makes her realize that it’s okay to have a plan and roots. And the Tias! They are the absolute best and remind me of the chorus from Greek plays!

The Worst Best Man was my favorite book of 2020 and now I’m pretty confident to that The Wedding Crasher will be my favorite book of 2022. Mia Sosa is a genius when it comes to seamlessly combining humor, emotion, sweetness, and singe your fingers steam!

I received a complimentary review copy of this book but all opinions are my own.

If you like pretend relationships to advance one’s career or fool one’s relatives, then this story fits that trope. I’m not too fond of that common romance trope since it involves so many lies and is always so unbelievable, but I did enjoy the heroine, Solange, who is part of a very close Brazilian family of three single mothers who came to Washington, D.C. to open a Brazilian market and cafe and raise their children. The discussions of Brazilian food will have your mouth watering. Solange was a charming, fun character. I liked her a lot more than Dean who is a hard-working lawyer hoping to make partner, and needs to pretend to have a steady girlfriend for complicated, unbelievable reasons.

I found him a bit exasperating, and the story dragged a bit in the last quarter of the story. I really enjoyed the first story in this series about Solange’s cousin, Lina, but this one wasn’t quite up to that first novel.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.

Even though I couldn't remember much from the last one, I found that this one held itself better than the first. I loved the relationship between the MCs , moreover I enjoyed their friendship. It wasn't anything that we haven't seen before but I liked it altoghether.
All in all, it was a great rom-com to pass the time. Definitely would recommed.

I really wish I enjoyed this more than I did. The first book was good so I was excited to get Solange and Dean’s story but unfortunately Wedding Crasher just didn’t do much for me.

This is a relationship of convenience trope and to be honest, a lot of the interactions between characters was slightly off - especially in the beginning. I didn’t feel much chemistry between Solange and Dean which made it even harder to believe in their romance. I couldn’t connect with Solange, although, like the first book, I really enjoyed the Brazilian influences throughout the story. Dean was also a little…boring. There were a lot of moments in the book that felt choppy and unnecessary.

I have no doubt many people will like this, it just wasn’t for me. Thank you NetGalley for the ARC!

Heat Factor: They accidentally end up at a sex party and I was fanning myself.
Character Chemistry: Banter
Plot: She only wants the kind of love that’s all in, he’s wary of the emotional roller coaster of love, they’re in a fake relationship for Reasons
Overall: Mia Sosa is good at words.

This is a Me problem that I feel I should acknowledge going into this review: I read two ARCs that released a month apart within a week of each other, and they both involve a hero who believes in stable marital partnerships but not love. In short. And both of them felt this way because of the impact of their parents’ decisions on their youths. So that’s a thing that happened.

I remembered why I had so much fun reading Mia Sosa when I started this book. The dialogue is so great! It’s playful and fast-paced, and at no point did I scratch my head and think, “Why are you telling me this not very interesting information?” Well-written dialogue is a book perk that simply cannot be overstated.

So, Dean and Solange meet when Solange interrupts Dean’s wedding because she overheard the bride confessing her love for someone else right before the ceremony. You might think this would make for an awkward start, or that Dean might actively dislike Solange, but that is not at all the case, and I have to say, I really needed a book that did not involve some variation of hate-to-love. Dean and Solange make friends right away, though this is helped because Dean is extremely pragmatic and handles the end of his not-marriage in a super calm way and because Dean is the best friend of the guy who’s dating Solange’s cousin.

Considering that both Dean and Solange live full, busy lives and that Solange is planning to leave DC for a job in Ohio at the end of the summer, the two could have gone their separate ways with no further anything, but instead Dean’s ridiculous law firm quest for partnership leads him to blurt out that he’s in a serious relationship with Solange. (Honestly, the law firm is not even particularly dramatized, which is just sad. And also not surprising given Sosa’s law firm background.) So of course he has to beg Solange to actually help him out of this pickle.

Solange does, partially because it is so in line with her personality to just go for it, but also because Dean says all the right things and takes ownership of what he’s done. And then we’re rolling!

Which, friends, includes Dean getting drunk and performing Pony by Ginuwine complete with Magic Mike dance moves during a karaoke night at a bar.

And also they end up at a sex party in Adams Morgan because Dean’s colleague is absolute trash. But the sex party was hot, not gonna lie. I do wish that the colleague had gotten his comeuppance a bit more than what we ended up with in the end, though. He was the worst.

And, of course, Mia Sosa’s sex writing is, as usual, on point.

Oh, and did I mention that, because Solange’s mom was goaded into jealous defensiveness by another cousin, she said that Solange was also in a committed relationship, so Solange also needs a fake relationship? The fun part of this is that Solange doesn’t initially ask Dean to fill that role - she’s got another plan, thanks - but what would a rom-com be without a whole bunch of things going exactly wrong at the right time?

I definitely had fun reading this book, and Sosa’s prose is just great. If you’re in the mood for something that’s leaning into its fun side, and you’re as excited as I was about a book that’s not starting from an enemies-to-lovers sort of space, this is a good choice.

Also, Rasika is amazeballs, and if you go to DC you should try to get a reservation at the Penn Quarter location. Or sometimes you can just go to the bar there and get a table if you’re patient.

I voluntarily read and reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. We disclose this in accordance with 16 CFR §255.

The Wedding Crasher was full of laughs and steamy chemistry between two people who seemed like opposites on paper.

Dean had his whole life planned out. He was on track to make partner at his law firm and he was marrying a woman he respected and believed would challenge him. What he didn’t expect was for his best friend’s girlfriend’s cousin, Solange, to object to the marriage on his wedding day. Weeks after his catastrophic wedding day, Dean and Solange found themselves back in each other’s orbit with a fake dating scheme.

If wacky hijinks are your jam then you’re going to love The Wedding Crasher. Mia Sosa wrote hilarious scenes and I was invested in Dean and Solange’s budding romance. Admittedly, a lot of the comedy felt shoehorned in for the sake of marketing this as a romantic comedy, and I felt myself cringing at some scenes. Despite that complaint, I enjoyed The Wedding Crasher and found it impossible to put down at times.

Readers looking for lots of laughs and who don’t want to ask a lot of questions will have a blast with The Wedding Crasher.

I didn't like where the plot was going - all the activities were supposed to be charming and build Dean and Solange's relationship but there was zero chemistry and I didn't like reading from either character perspective.

Book Review:
I really loved the fit and relationship of Solange and Dean. They ended up in a double fake dating plan at first to help Dean out at work after Solange crashed his wedding and a promotion was on the line- but needed to have a partner for some work meetings. Then, Solange needed to have the favor returned after her mom lied to their extended family that she was in a serious relationship to save face when they came to town.

I really liked the opposites of how Solange and Dean, weren’t really that different at all, just approaching the need for stability in different ways hoping their tactics would save them from the heartbreak they had witnessed their single mothers go through as they grew up.

If you loved The Spanish Love Deception but wanted a shorter read, I’d recommend this romcom as Dean was utterly dreamy and Solange was a great MC.

Thank you NetGalley and HarperCollins and Avon for the ARC of this book! I am so thankful to obtain a copy to read in advance of its release!

Thank you so much for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest review! I LOVED The Worst Best Man so I have been waiting on The Wedding Crasher for a while! I love how Sosa writes strong female unapologetic characters. I love the family aspects of her books as well! Well done and another fantastic book by Sosa!

I was so happy to get a copy of The Wedding Crasher to review. I'm such a fan of Mia Sosa and enjoy her writing style as well as the culture and diversity she adds to her novels.

The Wedding Crasher is a standalone contemporary rom-com, but I recommend reading The Worst Best Man first as you see other characters from that story in this book. While I was more of a fan of The Worst Best Man (I loved the chemistry between Max & Lina), I still enjoyed Dean and Solange's story.

Imagine a wedding, and when the Priest asks, "Does anyone not agree with the union between these two people?" And someone from the audience says, "I DON'T," and this person doesn't even know the two are getting married. She only heard something she wasn't supposed to. That takes guts, a lot of guts to do what you know is right. But wow, I would be so embarrassed! Then we get the "almost-groom" who wants to accomplish his place in his career and ends up blurting out that he's in love with the woman who stopped his wedding. This brings us to the glorious fake dating. Dean has to convince Solange to play along, and we go from there. WHAT. A. RIDE.

Solange is amazing and I connected instantly with her spunk and spirit. I love that she unwinds Dean a bit from being such a straight-laced man. He learns to live a bit and sees life from a different POV.

Throughout the story, I got a bit...bored and skipped some pages; I still didn't miss the plot. It felt a bit drawn out, with filler scenes, when it didn't need to be. Between the two main characters, the back-and-forth of should we/should we not got repetitious. But overall, I did enjoy it and would recommend it.

What I LOVED in The Wedding Crasher:

- Fake-Dating (YES, YES, YES)
- Sharing one bed
- Family dynamic (I adored them all - the Brazilian culture is so fun & beautiful)
- Dual POV
- The meet-cute, I mean, it's awkward and amazing
- I loved the humor. It was so funny!
- The moments of spicy (party scene? Wowza)

I give The Wedding Crasher a ★★★★ Star Rating.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the e-arc copy in exchange for an honest review!

I read The Worst Best Man and was looking forward to this book.

Solange and Dean were great characters. The fake dating trope is really starting to grow on me. I liked how they kept telling themselves that it wasn't going to work because of how different they were. I thought they had good chemistry. All the supporting characters were great. (I wanted to punch Peter in the face.)

I felt like this book was drawn out. There was at least one point where I thought we were close to the end but we weren't.

That being said, I still enjoyed the book. I give it 4 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐.

I resonated with Solange so much. She accidentally overhears a bride talking with the non-groom and finds that she can’t keep quiet about it, so she crashes and breaks up Dean’s wedding. But Dean’s not so heartsick—his marriage was going to be a modern marriage of convenience. When he perpetuates a white lie to work towards a promotion at his law firm, Solange feels obligated to help him out.

Both Dean and Solange live their lives affected by the trauma of their childhoods. For Solange, the abandonment of her father has caused her to be cautious of putting her trust in anyone while Dean plans to live his life without the emotional destruction of love. But opposites do attract, and they both can’t help being drawn to one another.

Their fake-dating antics are hilarious and I can never forget Dean Magic Mike-ing to Pony at the karaoke bar. I loved seeing them grow emotionally and how all their close friends and family work so hard to get them together. This book wouldn’t have been the same without the fantastic side characters—I’m dying for Brandon’s story.

Lighthearted and fun, The Wedding Crasher was another great read by Mia Sosa.
