This was such a fun book! If you’re a fan of the fake dating trope, you’ll love this one, it’s done perfectly! This book will have you laughing from the start, and you won’t want to put it down! I highly recommend checking it out!
Solange is asked to help her cousin at a wedding event. She overhears the bride with the brides boyfriends and the wedding goes up in smoke. She then becomes the grooms pretend girlfriend - this book was fun and quick read.
i really loved the wedding crasher...but this one was so hard to get into. something about the voice of the two main characters was difficult to buy into and like which is sad because i liked this author!
Prepare to be thoroughly entertained and captivated by this uproarious rom-com from the talented author of The Worst Best Man. This delightful story revolves around Solange Pereira and Dean Chapman, two strangers who find themselves caught up in an intricate web of lies that leads them down an unexpected path of fake dating.
Solange, a self-proclaimed hopeless romantic, stumbles upon a wedding that she believes is headed for disaster. Determined to prevent the groom from making a colossal mistake, she crashes the event and unintentionally turns Dean's life upside down. In a moment of desperation, Dean claims to be in love with Solange, leading to a series of hilarious and heartwarming escapades.
The chemistry between Solange and Dean crackles with intensity from the start. Their witty banter, electric exchanges, and genuine moments of vulnerability make their fake relationship come alive in the most enchanting way. As they navigate their charade, the boundaries between fiction and reality begin to blur, leaving readers breathless with anticipation for what lies ahead.
The author's clever and humorous writing style shines throughout the narrative, delivering laugh-out-loud moments and heart-fluttering romance in equal measure. The dialogue is sharp, the pacing is impeccable, and the plot twists keep you on the edge of your seat.
What sets this book apart is the depth of the characters. Solange and Dean are multi-dimensional, flawed, and incredibly relatable. Watching their emotional journey unfold is a joyous experience, as they learn to embrace vulnerability, confront their fears, and ultimately discover the true meaning of love.
The supporting cast adds a delightful layer to the story, each character bringing their own quirks and charm. From Solange's witty cousin to Dean's hilarious colleagues, the ensemble cast contributes to the overall vibrancy of the tale.
This raving rom-com is an absolute gem. It will make you laugh, swoon, and believe in the power of love. With its infectious humor, engaging storyline, and unforgettable characters, this book is an absolute must-read for fans of the genre. Prepare to be swept away in a whirlwind of laughter, romance, and sheer delight.
I loved the Worst Best Man and when I saw there was a companion novel, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on it. Unfortunately trying to read it, I wasn’t able to get sucked in the same way I did with Worst Best Man.
Slowly catching up on my Netgalley backlog and this one was first on the list! I love a good fake dating trope and while I was a little worried in the beginning, I warmed up to these characters and wound up really enjoying it!
Thoughts:
-Family dynamics can often make or break a book for me and Solange’s family was dynamite. They were loud and intrusive and so insanely fun!
-The start of the book was pretty slow. I didn’t love the crashed wedding or the reason Dean was so set on getting married
-The way Solange and Dean started fake dating was bizarre and seemed like it came out of nowhere, but once it got going, it was fun and enjoyable to read their dynamic
-Dean was quite boring and bland in the beginning and I was worried I wasn’t going to find any way to relate to him, but he slowly opened up and grew on me
-The ending storyline seemed a little too tied up with a pretty bow, but it still captured me
Overall, this was a cute and engaging romance! I recommend it and will definitely be checking out more of Mia Sosa’s books!
Thank you Netgalley, Avon and Harper Voyager, and Mia Sosa for this book in exchange for an honest review.
I was so excited for this second in the series because I LOVED The Worst Best Man, and I'm so happy to say it doesn't disappoint. I was interested in Solange and Dean while reading the first book, and I could tell they were earning their own book within the story. I'm a sucker for the trope of a man who doesn't believe in love (lol yeah right) and a women who totally does. I think this might have been BETTER than The Worst Best Man, and I can't wait for more from this author.
I'm always a sucker for a fake dating trope (and fake dating for coworkers is usually extra fun), so was excited to pick this one up. It started out strong for me, but started faltering as it got later. There was some great humor and family moments, but the pacing was a little funky and it fell a little flat for me.
I didn't love THE WORST BEST MAN so I was hesitant to read THE WEDDING CRASHER, but TikTok convinced it was worth a try. Unfortunately, I disliked THE WEDDING CRASHER even more than THE WORST BEST MAN. The plot made absolutely no sense. I understand suspending my disbelief for some things but this was a lot. Why did Dean's law firm fire him simply for lying? Why would the woman he was entertaining for the law firm as be in a fake relationship instead of just being in a relationship with her friend that she had a crush on? Why would Solange's entire family buy last minute flights to Vegas just to engage in Brandon's ploy to get Dean and Solange together? Aren't we supposed to believe they don't have a lot of money? Also, the reasons Dean and Solange resisted being together were so ridiculous and infuriating I wanted to go into the book and shake them. I contemplated DNFing multiple times but persisted in the hopes that it would get better. Unfortunately, it did not.
I don't know why I dragged my feet on this one because it was a lot of fun.
I really liked Solange and Dean. They seem so different, but they're looking for something and unexpectedly find it in each other. I loved reading their fake relationship turn real. And meddling family members is always a favorite of mine, and the tias are fantastic.
Plot wise, it was good. The series of dates were fun (even if we had to deal with Peter) and I enjoyed how there was loads of open conversation. Of course, I did want to force them to talk about what mattered, but the way it played out was damn near perfection.
Overall, it was a quick and fun read with characters that were easy to get invested in.
**Huge thanks to the publisher for providing the arc free of charge**
Thank you so much @AvonBooks & @NetGalley for giving me this eARC in exchange for my honest and unbiased review (Release Date | 05 April 2022)
SYNOPSIS | Solange is helping out her cousin at a wedding when she overhears the bride confessing her love for someone who is not her soon-to-be-husband. After meeting the groom, Solange decides to stop the wedding to try & prevent the couple from making a mistake.
WHAT I LIKED:
- how easy their banter was straight off the bat
- Solange was a fierce & ballsy main character
- super engaging first few chapters
WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE:
- the overall plot just fell kind of flat for me & the pacing felt off throughout
- how quickly Dean started falling for Solange (I like more of a slow burn)
- the fake dating situation didn't lead to better chemistry or any sparks so I struggled to root for them as a couple
The Wedding Crasher was way more funny than I was expecting. The conversations that these characters had with each other was hilarious! I was laughing so much. The food that was mentioned had me hungry. If you're looking for a light, funny read, with a bit of steam, that will make you hungry; this is the book for you!
The way this book began grabbed my attention. The messy wedding debacle and stopping a wedding was comical and entertaining. I enjoyed Solange from the beginning as a character. I'm also a sucker for the fake dating troupe and the chemistry between Solange and Dean was definitely present. I enjoyed that Dean was able to reasses his goals and outlook on life via his experience with Solange. Overall a cute read a a solid 3.75
Five Stars!!! You know I love the fake dating trope, and yes this is another one - but Mia Sosa pulled it off so well!
I laughed so hard through out this book and it was so cute.
Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book! The title and this beautiful cover drew me in and i was excited to read this book! I will be recommending this book to others for readers advisory.
This was cute, but not one of my fav romances. I liked the MC enough but the romance fell a little flat for me. Enjoyable, but ultimately not super memorable.
I...absolutely enjoyed this. the perfect light read with a little bit of drama. We love watching an outgoing heroine break someone out of their bubble. The opposites attract trope was done nicely and it was very believable but i do wish we spent more time with them building up the chemistry.
it makes me excited to read the first in the series!
This was such a fun read that I couldn’t stop here. I looked at my local library to see if they had any of her other books. So beware that once you start reading one of her books you will want to consume more of hers!
3.5 rounded up for the Tias. While this isn't a sequel to The Worst Best Man, it's the same universe - Lina's cousin and Max's best friend are the main characters. I always enjoy the fake dating trope, though Solange and Dean's reasons for not wanting to be together didn't ring true to me. And Peter is the worst. I liked the ending though, and it's got some pretty steamy scenes which are always fun.
This was great! Fun and silly, with characters of great depth. Can absolutely be read as a standalone, but would recommend reading "The Worst Best Man" too!
I look forward to reading more from Mia Sosa.
