This book was a ton of fun. As someone who has a… rudimentary understanding of Spanish, it’s always interesting to see the how many similarities there are with written Portuguese. This fake dating scenario was so fun and the hijinks got me. I love it when characters have to deal with strange situations. The chemistry between Solange and Dean was great, with a stellar secondary cast. I had a smile on my face for most of the time I was reading this book.
This was such a fun read, especially around Valentine's Day. This book had me laughing, cringing (in a good way) at the characters, and blushing from the fluffiness. If you're looking for a fun, fake-dating, light-hearted book, The Wedding Crasher is perfect for you. It's one of those rom coms that is so easy to imagine in your head, that it keeps you turning the page wanting to keep imagery going. The Wedding Crasher is the perfect light and sweet novel to enjoy while sitting poolside or enjoying a sunny day after a long winter.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I really loved the playful communication style between Dean and Solange. I also really enjoy Solange's big family and the way that they care for one another and are in each other's business all the time. There were also some really fun moments in this book (a sex party? ok, sure!) and the meet cute was well done.
I always struggle with pop culture references in books and this was no exception. I haven't read a book where they seem to be naturally incorporated into the story. They feel unnecessary to me and it seems like they will date the book in the future.
Around the 50% mark, I found myself struggling to pick up the book and continue reading as I felt like there were lots of distractions preventing Dean and Solange from developing their relationship. Overall, it was fun and light but unfortunately it just didn't grab me in the way rom-comes typically do.
I enjoyed the epilogue and how Nia and Kimberly's story mirrored Dean and Solange's.
Overall, I would give this book 3 stars out of 5.
“It’s really that over the course of the weeks I’ve known you, I’ve gotten glimpses of what it would be like to be your person. I’ve gotten a taste of what it would be like to be the one loving you. And it kind of feels like an honor. Like maybe I don’t deserve you.”
We have fake dating, and they’re sharing the same bed! Two tropes I love so much. Imagine the person who crashes your wedding turns out to be the love of your life?
This rom-com was exactly what I needed. I could not stop laughing. This book follows Dean Chapman and Solange Pereira, they’re complete opposites. However, they miracously agree to fake date after she crashes Dean’s wedding, to help save Dean’s job! But their futures don’t align. Dean is a workaholic who thrives off planning goals for himself, and achieving it, so love doesn’t fit into his picture, and Solange knows that. She wants a partner that’ll be all in. It sounds like a recipe for disaster, so she constantly tries to convince herself that she shouldn’t develop any sort of attraction/feelings for Dean. I thought that it probably wouldn’t work.. How would it work? But GUYSSS. Watching Dean realize he might be catching feelings for Solange, he did things she loved, just because it makes her happy. The FASHION SHOW? UGH I LOVED THAT. THEIR FIRST KISS? I LOVED THAT TOO. HIM WANTING TO HAVE “THEIR OWN THING” UGH. The way Solange’s family accepted him? It felt like I was apart of their family too lol! I ADORED THE TIAS! The side characters were just as enjoyable! I loved her best friend, Brandon. I really hope his story is next. I also loved the cultural representation in this book as well! It really made me want to visit Brazil and try some of the delicious food the author described in the book!
But you know what I loved most? The ENDING. Gosh! If my future partner doesn’t crash my wedding, then I don’t want you! Thank you so much Netgalley for the ARC!!!
Love, love, love this book! It was such an awesome sequel to The Worst Best Man! I loved following Solange and Dean around. They are actually soulmates if I've ever read about any. The writing in this book makes it so easy to fall in love with the characters and the way their story unfolds. Both had different paths they were on but they found a way to merge together and it was awesome. Also the spice in this book..... WOW.
A laugh out loud, fun and adorable rom-com. I devoured this book, reading it in one afternoon on a slow day at work. I laughed so much reading this. One of my favorite rom-coms this year.
This book was just too unbelievable for me to fully get into it. Our main character Solange is assisting her cousin with a wedding. Not even knowing the bride or groom, she feels the need to stop their wedding when she catches the bride with another man. The groom then immediately thinks of Solange a couple of weeks later when he needs someone to play his fake girlfriend. Then some of the shenanigans they get into are just too over the top, it didn't feel real to me. 2/5 stars.
This was a 3.5 star read, and I'm torn on whether to round up or down here. The value of the book is more in its parts than in its sum - there are a lot of really delightful vignettes but I'm not sure they all really come together well; the problem, I think, is likely in the pacing. But it was genuinely funny, and very hot - I don't remember the first book being this steamy. Good, not great.
SYNOPSIS
Dean Chapman has a solid life plan, and marrying Ella is part of the plan. They have similar life plans and they both respect each other's goals. Enter Solange, who overhears something shocking right before the wedding. She's convinced that she can't let them go through with it.
A few week after the failed wedding, a chance for a promotion arises at Dean's firm, the only issue is that he needs a significant other for it. In a moment of panic, Dean claims to be in love with the woman who crashed his wedding. As they get to know each other better, the line between fake dating and real feelings start to blur, but they both want different things from relationships, so it probably won't work out anyway, right?
THOUGHTS
when I tell you I SWOONED while reading this, I'm understating it.
I was so invested and smiling from ear to ear throughout. The banter between Dean and Solange was immaculate. The tension? the pining??? Top notch. I mean who doesn't love a good fake dating with a side of the "only one bed" trope? I was honestly so hooked. I loved the family element as well, and I think the way family and parents can affect our views on love was portrayed so well. Dean and Solange were the most loveable characters and I loved all of the side characters as well. This book gave me all of the warm and fuzzy feelings. It's definitely a new favourite. Just thinking about it has me smiling again
Wow I loved this book. Mia Sosa strikes again with a funny, beautiful, swoony, steamy love story! Dean was so interesting in The Worst Best Man and I was really intrigued to see how Sosa would craft his HEA. The conflict between Solange and Dean felt real - their tension, their mutually pining but holding back because of assumptions about the other, that one scene (YOU KNOW WHICH ONE) that I don't want to spoil. Just an overall really great story and I am so excited to have read an ARC. (less)
I like the tropes used in this book, and I like the characters individually. But it did take me a while to really get into the story. The build-up to the fake dating was intriguing, but then it was slow going in the first phase of the relationship. The lead woman felt like she spent a lot of time judging her leading man. And that judgment just seemed to take up a lot of space and made the relationship a little tough to believe. Once the story got going a little over halfway in, I was happy with the pacing and development.
I thought this was SO cute. Fake dating is probably my favorite romance trope, and this book nailed it. Solange and Dean had great chemistry and banter from their first meeting. They were both well-written and fleshed out; I felt like I got to know them very well. I really enjoyed the side characters too (Solange's family and Brandon especially). I just had a wonderful experience reading this book! I will definitely read it again.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my review copy! This book is out on April 5th.
Thank you to Avon and Harper Voyager for providing me an arc. I absolutely loved this book. I loved the concept. The banter was top notch. I love some good banter. There are some super spicy scenes and I was not mad about it. One specific scene caught me super off guard, since I have never read that in a book before, but I loved it. Mia Sosa always knows what she is doing. I do not think there will ever be a bad book that comes from her.
I enjoyed this book enough. It was really fun and had a great premise. For my own personal reading I'm tired of diverse romances ALWAYS having to have a white person as part of the couple and that was the biggest reason I wasn't in love with this book.
4,5 stars
**Thank you to NetGalley and Avon and Harper Voyager for the e-ARC provided in exchange for an honest review.**
I enjoyed this book much more than the first one, maybe because of the personality of the main characters, which made the book lighter, or it was the fake dating trope, that I personally love.
The story begins with Solange preventing Dean's wedding from happening, and after that, there will also be a situation at Dean's job that will make him ask for Solange's help, where they will have to pretend they are dating and living together.
I really liked Solange's personality. She is very fun, sarcastic and has a smart mouth.
I was expecting something totally different from Dean. I thought he was going to be more of a clown type, given what I'd seen of him in the first book, but it turned out he was more serious (which doesn't mean he was grumpy). I really liked that he always treated Solange very nicely and showed his playful side when he was with her.
I suspect Dean is a Capricorn or a Virgo: he doesn't want a relationship based on love, insted he wants one of convenience; he likes everything neat and clean in his own way; and even if he's the checklist guy, he's still funny and amusing.
The reading was very light and funny because of these protagonists's personalities.
One of the complications in their relationship is that they're both afraid of repeating their mothers' mistakes when it comes to love, even though their way of not repeating those mistakes are different. While Dean prioritizes work, trying to find someone who has similar goals to share his life with, Solange has difficulty making choices, so she is always experimenting the different possibilities when it comes to her professional career and her love life because of her fear of making choices that will ultimately screw her up. I thought it was really cool how this was approached subtly throughout the narrative.
The sexual tension of these two is ABSURD and they have several incredible scenes where they show that (aka the karaoke scene and the gala party).
I thought the main characters from the first book would appear more since Lina is Solange's cousin and Max is Dean's best friend, but that wasn't the case. Despite this, I liked the introduction of the protagonist's Brazilian family much more in this book than in the first. It seemed much more natural, especially the way Solange interacts with her cousins (I related a lot with it since I'm brazilian).
It was very nice to have these mentions of Brazilian foods, the different ways of relating to the family, and also reading the dialogues in Portuguese (even if some of those weren't like we usually speak).
Overall I liked it a lot, and if the author writes more books from this family I will definitely read it.
RESENHA EM Pt-Br:
Do Dean eu estava esperando algo totalmente diferente.
What a cute read! I knew within a chapter of starting the Wedding Crasher that I was going to enjoy it. And I did! I devoured it in less than 2 days. It was lol funny, romantic, and hella steamy. That one scene… whoa 🥵. Sosa takes the whole damn cake with that one. You’ll know what I’m talking about when you get there.
I loved Solange, but honestly all of the characters were outstanding. I adored the strong family dynamic, but also appreciated the nod to single motherhood, and that families come in all shapes and sizes. ♥️
This was my first read by Mia Sosa, and I am looking forward to more.

If you’re in the mood to devour a fun, opposites attract, spicy rom-com, definitely check out The Wedding Crasher. Side note, I didn’t read The Worst Best Man first. While you don’t “have” to, the characters are connected, so I wish I would have. I will for sure go back and read TWBM..
Huge thanks to NetGalley, Harper Voyager, and Mia Sosa for the advance copy in exchange my honest review.
The Wedding Crasher was hilarious, sexy, fake dating, only one-bed amazingness. From the very beginning, the book kept me turning pages anticipating what would happen next. Shenanigans? Family humor (or drama)? A heartfelt convo between the main characters? This book has a lot going on, and I am HERE FOR IT. Pick this one up for a steamy read full of chemistry, culture, laughs, and all the feels 😍
First off, I would like to thank NetGalley & Avon and Harper Voyager for the eARC of this book! It was such a light, cute, and funny book to end January with. The characters were all amazing, and only became more lovable as they were further developed. I am trash for the fake dating trope, especially when the characters are so different from each other. How could you not love Solange, who doesn’t have an exact plan for her life, and Dean, who feels that he is unable to function without sticking to his whole life plan. The two together? So much chemistry, even when they wanted to resist it. This was my first Mia Sosa read, but I look forward to reading more of her work in the future!
Ayy, this book was a sweet read that depicted a perfect "opposites attract" trope. Not going to lie, I was a bit skeptical in the beginning at how the couple was going to come together at the end when they really did seem like complete opposites, but I think the best part about Solange and Dean's story is that despite being different, they weren't total opposites where it mattered and that's essentially what made their relationship seem real.
Dean has always had a checklist and has completely abided by his life plan. Solange, on the other hand, is more of a free spirit and has never been able to set down roots. When Solange interrupts Dean's wedding because she overhears the bride-to-be confess her love to another man, it throws Dean off-kilter in terms of his checklist. Soon, he's soliciting Solange's help to fake date in order to impress a work colleague, and from there, the two learn more from each other than they have from anyone else in their life.
What I loved most about this book was the depiction of Brazilian culture that seemed so vibrant and beautiful in every way. Solange and her family are proud Brazilians and there is a lot to show for it in the story. I love that they speak Portuguese with no shame (and I LOVE that Mia Sosa didn't choose to add the translation to every single Portuguese line written in the story-IMO it makes it feel more authentic). The Tias in the story were my absolute favorites; they stole the show <3
Overall, this is a sweet, easy read that should be picked up if you're looking for an opposites attract, fake dating romance with the one-bed trope, awesome representation, and a lot of modern pop culture references :D
This was a super fun read from Mia Sosa! I loved that we stayed in the same world as The Worst Best Man, she created such a great group of characters that I'm really enjoying getting to dive deeper into their stories. Honestly the faux dating trope always gets me and Dean + Solange's polar opposite personalities made it that much more fun to follow. As with Sosa's previous book, I really enjoyed the authentic sprinkling of Brazilian culture we got (all those food descriptions made me hungry). I'd recommend this one if you're looking for a kickass heroine to root for.
