I fell completely in love with these characters in this book, especially;
Nemain - Our badass, female protagonist
Magos - Our favourite, mysterious vampire
Andrei - Werewolf with a heart of gold
Mikhail - Magosโ nephew and hopefully a future love interest to Nemain??? (I HOPE)
Our story begins with our protagonist Nemain - a feline shapeshifter who is being held prisoner and tortured by Sebastian - a vampire who has been making her life hell ever since she left him. Sebastian is a cruel and evil vampire who has taken not only Nemainโs freedom but the life of her lover - Myrna and she wants nothing more than to get revenge.
Nemainโs torture ends when Magos finds her and kills the vampires who are imprisoning her to get her to safety where Sebastian will be unable to find herโฆ but itโs not only Sebastian hunting Nemain, she has bigger problems to fear when the leaders of the Warlocks become interested in her ability to open realms โฆ
In this gripping fantasy, Nemain must keep her family and friends safe but what will she do when faced with powerful Warlocks who will do everything in their power to capture her?
This storyline was SO good, I was hooked from the get go, we have everything we could want in a fantasy book; vampires, warlocks, witches, daemons, fae and so many more! I loved the LGBTQ representation too. Nemain is such a badass female character and I loved finding out more about her powers, Iโm intrigued to find out what she really is in the next book.
I really hope we see a possible romance blossoming between Mikhail and Nemain in future books as I loved his character so much - it would be great to learn more about him in the next lost legacies instalment as I think thereโs a lot more to his character that meets the eye.
My only negative feedback about this book is there were quite a few grammar/spelling errors but those didnโt ruin the reading experience as I was so hooked on the fast paced storyline. Iโll be sure to keep an eye out for this authors next release as Iโm desperate to find out what happened next.

Nemain is a multifaceted character. Shifter, magic wielder, hidden talents and an enigma. Loved the mystery surrounding her, her guardian, the great side characters. Worldbuilding could have been fleshed out, but the story was good. Definitely get the next book. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC from Netgalley.
Thank you so much to NetGalley for sharing an ARC of A Shift in Shadows in exchange for an honest review.
This novel is a really fun and quick read, for fans of contemporary fantasy I think this would be right up their street. It's gritty and dark, and doesn't pull any punches when it comes to the realities of living in a world filled with paranormal creatures.
I loved Nemain and her complicated relationships with those around her. She was a really fun and well rounded main character.
I'm not a massive contemporary fantasy lover, I much prefer high fantasy but I did enjoy this book even if it wasn't 100% for me. If you're a fan of The Vampire Diaries, I think this would be the perfect grown-up read for you.
It's a great first book in a series and I'm excited to see where the book goes.
รt took a while to get into the storyline. I found the beginning of thee world building chaotic. The author throws the reader in to sink or swim. There is a hodgepodge of magical beings from demons to shifters to fae, Despite that, I am glad I stuck with it.
The MC is tough. She had to be to experience the trauma she went through. Nonetheless she is relateable, with a positive side.
I hope t get that the author expands the secondary characters and that we learn more of their histories
I look forward to the next in in the series.
Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC. I am leaving my honest review.
this was a great start to a shifters series, I enjoyed going through this journey and getting to know these characters. It was a lot of fun and I look forward to more from the series.
Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for allowing me to read this book for free in exchange for a review.

Great world building, This story starts off with heroine captured and hopeless, until she is rescued. by Magos.. I loved the characters the dialogue was witty and I can't wait for the next book.
