A fun filled story which was an enjoyable read.

I adored this book! Jen was just the character I was looking for when I decided to try another romcom (which I don't really gravitate towards but I'm trying to branch out a bit)...maybe it's because we're closer in age (though she's older by a couple of years!) but I definitely felt like I connected with her more than I have in some other books with characters in their twenties. Jen's online dating debacles were written well, not overly long but long enough that you got the point of why dating can suck. The writing had me stifling giggles throughout and everything worked out exactly how I had hoped at the end so I was left completely satisfied. I'll be checking out her other books now for sure...

I have loved Fiona GI son’s novels for ages, and this one felt like a treat I needed! The story of a middle aged flight attendant trying and often failing to find love had me entranced! It was heartfelt and real, and I just wanted to keep on reading!

Midlife mayhem, redundancy,empty nest syndrome and an ageing parent, a funny lighthearted look at midlife through the eyes of Jen, a totally relatable read for women of a certain age! It certainly resonated with me!
After losing her job as an air stewardess and taking stock of her life Jen is persuaded to try online dating! This opens up a whole new world to Jen often with hilarious results! Supported by her daughter, friends and her daughters dad Jen tries new experiences, gets a new job, forms a closer bond with her mother and generally overhauls her life obtaining a perfect work life balance and finding herself Along the way!
A fun fast read that I thoroughly enjoyed!

I loved this delightful story and found it to be very heartwarming. It was the feel good story I needed and as a woman in her 50's I could relate. I look forward to reading more from Fiona Gibson.

I have read a few of Fiona Gibson’s book now and have enjoyed them so when I seen the chance to review this on NetGalley I was excited and thankfully it didn’t disappoint

Telling the story of Jen, a 50 year old woman who gets made redundant after 29 years of being an air hostess.

The story details the ups and downs of finding love and a new job whilst dealing with family dramas.

Fiona has an amazing way of dealing with daily struggles which I find all readers can relate too.

A quick and easy read that I found myself picking up after a long day to unwind. The characters are beautifully written and I came to love them within the first few pages and was rooting for them all the way to the end. At times I wanted to stop reading because I just wanted the experience to go on for longer.

I absolutely love Fiona Gibson's work, these are real women, living real lives and their stories leap off the page. Engaging, entertaining and incredibly funny, this is a razor sharp look at dating in your fifties which shows that love - and flirting - is not just for the twentysomethings. Highly recommended.

A sweet and funny story of a woman who goes through a dramatic life change and decides to try online dating. Her experiences with this as well as the changes in her family are told with a relatable voice. I enjoyed it a good deal.

The Woman Who Took a Chance is a fun story about Jen, a 50 year old flight attendant who is encouraged by her daughter to start online dating when she loses her job. We follow her journey to find a suitable partner through a series of dates that show all the pitfalls of meeting someone via a screen. It’s certainly not something I’d want to contemplate, and even less so after reading this 😂.

I really enjoyed this lighthearted read that also touched on the more serious sides of midlife too. All the characters were believable and it was easy to pick up and put down, although I did read it in a couple of days. I wasn’t expecting that ending either which is always a nice surprise.

As I’m now in my 50s, it’s good to read books where the main characters are of a similar age, in a market that is often flooded with 20 and 30 somethings. I thoroughly enjoyed this - 5 stars.

Another really strong read by Fiona Gibson. As always, I loved the character development in this novel and this was brilliant at moving the story forward. Perhaps not her most gripping of stories so far, but this is definitely a good read to pass time and be entertained.

This book is a lovely read about a woman in her fifties exploring the world of online dating and discovering who she really is.

I really like the writing style of this book, the characters are likable, and I did manage to read it fairly quickly. I also liked how Jennifer was mature and acted her age. However, the ending left me a little conflicted. It is a little open-ended and I do like how it ended for the most part except I find myself wondering about an alternate ending where she ends up with someone else. Overall, I did enjoy the book however the story was a bit slow and I had a hard time getting into the book. Nevertheless, I would recommend this book if you are looking for a slow-paced lighthearted book about a woman's journey to taking chances in life.

Pleasantly surprised that the characters weren't stereotypes of themselves. While the book didn't exactly start off roaringly, it did get better as it went along, and I found myself enjoying the plot more. It was definitely Jen's mother's storyline that added the much-needed heart to this story.

This book is refreshingly different in that it deals with the woes of a 50 year old woman. She has difficulties with her career, her elderly mother, and despite having family, wants someone special to share her life and embarks on online dating. This book deals with issues in a sympathetic way and is hilarious in parts. The ending was quite unexpected. A very entertaining book.

This book started off well, but I have to say I got a little bored by about midway through. I did internet dating myself for quite a few years and it was a lot more entertaining in real life. However, it was readable enough and I liked the fact that the ending wasn't predictable. You can't say that about many books these days.

It was so nice reading a book targeted to a larger age group than just the twenty something troupe. Really enjoyed this fun relatable read.

I love books by Fiona Gibson, having read most of them, and I am pleased to say this new release didn’t disappoint. Meet Jen - a single mum to a grown up daughter who is made redundant from her long serving career as a flight attendant and decides to use the free time to dip her toe into the world of online dating, after some pressure from her daughter. Cue lots of disastrous dates! Will Jen find love? You’ll have to read to find out. This has lots of genuine laugh out loud moments and I gobbled it up in 24 hours. I loved it!
