This was a story about beginnings.

This book felt more like a drama vs a thriller & just didn’t quite land for me. I think there are a lot of readers who will enjoy the twists though!

Thank you so much Netgalley & One More Chapter!

I had high hopes for this book but unfortunately I DNFed at 55%. It wasn’t that bad but it was just so predictable. Not for me

Living in a ritzy neighborhood with your friends surrounding you is not all it's cracked up to be. Soon, a new player to the field will reveal her secret, throwing this carefully balanced group of friends into a swirl that will end with someone dead. The party is getting started, is everyone ready for the ball to drop?

Thank you Harper Collins and One More Chapter for what is an excellent thriller.
Obsession within a neighbourhood, couldn't get through it quick enough, and brilliant ending.

Hannah Emery is a new author to me and I was really impressed by this book.I was expecting something quite lightweight, but it was fast paced and absorbing .well written characters and lots of unexpected events throughout the story.

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book. An enjoyable read about how the other half live. Set in beautiful Cotswold the families seem to have it all but are all hiding something. Although I found it a bit slow at times I enjoyed the book and the plot. Recommend reading

To: HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter

I am fully appreciative of the rejection letter you sent me on one of your other titles. To be honest, I wasn't really that interested in it, but as a Collections Development Librarian and a bookstagrammer, I do try to read widely. However, because of that rejection, I was able to take a closer look at your other titles and realized, based on the titles you promote and the news that's been reported on your division specifically, your division of HarperCollins seems to greatly lack in diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as in training in those areas. As a growing professional, I'd much rather put my focus on publishing companies seeking to change the industry rather than keep it the way it is, Please feel free to consider other reviewers for your work(s) in the future.

To: Hannah (the author)

I promise this review is not reflective of your work personally, only your publisher. I started a holiday series last holiday season on titles just like yours, so if you ever go independent or at least leave this division, I'd be happy to review your work.

Thank you.

An enjoyable read where the characters can’t be trusted not even one second from start to finish. The newcomer is definitely an intriguing one and the past will come crashing down on these personages. Their perfectly planned life is not so perfect in the end and everything will be revealed on New Year’s Eve.
Intriguing and suspenseful, a story that kept me invested and didn’t let me go til the last page. I’ve seen that ending coming from the beginning but it didn’t took away from my enjoyment at all

Very grateful to the publisher for my review copy

Another book left gathering dust on my shelf when I should have been reading it!!! Bit of a slow burn, I was worried I may not love it, but within a couple of chapters I was hooked. Frankie and verity have been friends since they were teenagers - married and living opposite each other they spend every spare minute together. One day new neighbour Alice comes into their lives - but all is not as it seems!! Twisty, turny and with some shocking parts!! Who is keeping secrets and are both of their worlds going to come crashing down on New Year’s Eve!!!??!!

A gripping domestic thriller….. Best friends, Frankie and Verity live across the lake from each other with their husbands, Red and Max. Frankie has three children and Verity is hoping for some. All seems fine until Alice and her daughter, Luna move into the village and try to befriend the two women. It all comes to a crashing halt at Verity's New Year's Eve party when...well, you won't believe it until you've read it! Well-drawn characters, twisty plot, and many surprises at the end!

A beautiful setting hides the worst secrets in this glorious domestic thriller set in the Cotswolds. Three women bound by a mutual past and a fair share of secrets are at the very middle of this excerpt story.

There was a lot going on in this story with tension all the way through. I found it easy to stay with the moves forwards and backwards as they were clearly defined. An interesting cast of characters, well described and believable. The conclusion was very well constructed and complete.

New Year's Eve is a time many people look forward to, especially artsy, wealthy couple Verity and Max. Known for her famous parties, Verity is throwing what is sure to be the celebration of the year-after what has been privately a very hard time. Verity's best friends, Frankie and Red, have recently moved to the exclusive community of White Fir Lake in The Cotswolds. But you never really tell everyone everything, do you? And from the prologue, the reader is aware the party ends with a deadly surprise. But the days leading up to it will reveal more questions than answers, as everyone, especially newcomer to the neighborhood, Alice, is keeping secrets that have devastating consequences. Among the fireworks and champagne the explosions rock White Fir Lake with a fast-paced thriller by Hannah Emery! This is a good read if you like psychological thrillers and mysteries!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my honest feedback.
