The beloved girls by Harriet evans released may2022. The beloved girls is very slow moving. It was difficult to stick to.
2.5 stars
Not quite what I was expecting, but it was an okay read. Nothing unique or memorable that will stick with me now that the last page is turned, however. The writing, in general, was okay, but things felt a bit all over the place on occasion. That made it hard to stay connected to the characters and storyline.
Thank you NetGalley and Grand Central Publishing for the eARC.
This book swept me away, I loved it!
The two main female characters, Janey and Kitty, are both emotionally damaged and eventually find each other like long lost sisters. Kitty's family is dysfunctional but Janey wants to be part of it badly, never feeling included though. The men of the family, father Charles and Kitty's twin Joss, are not particularly likeable. I thought Charles awful, actually; a bully who rules the family with an iron fist. The mother, Sylvia, was likeable, but weak, I felt sorry for her. The most important event of the year is The Collecting, an ancient family ritual involving the bees who live on their property. This ritual has caused lived to be lost, something that's not discussed and I felt doom coming as the the event was coming up. Lives will be changed forever.
The story is so different, it was terrific reading something that wasn't at all like most of the books I've read. Great stuff!
Highly recommended and a firm 5 stars!
While I didn't love this one I did enjoy reading it. However I don't think that this would be one that I would reread.
The Beloved Girls by Harriet Evans was an interesting story.
Honestly I didn't know what to expect going into this story.
But once I opened it and started reading I was sucked into a good quick read. With interesting characters and intriguing storyline.
I thought it was a good read. With great writing throughout.

Grand Central Publishing,
Thank You for your generosity and gifting me a copy of this amazing eARC!
I will post my review to my platforms, blog, B&N and Waterstone closer to pub date.
Although the description of The Beloved Girls sounded interesting I didn’t really care for this book. I don’t know if it’s the authors style of writing but the scenes felt a little disjointed. I didn’t particularly like or feel anything for the main character. I’m sure others will love this gook, but it wasn’t for me.
