This is definitely going to be one of my favourite books of the year! I loved everything about it, especially the banter between Nora and Charlie.
Anyone surprised that I finished this one in like 48 hours and am giving it a rave 5 star review? No? Ok cool. 📚🌟 THIS BOOOOOOK! I just feel like Emily Henry writes the absolute best characters and I find her romance especially to be quite realistic. I love that when I read her books, I feel like I’m meeting REAL people as opposed to another romcom cliche. She writes the way people would talk and communicates in just the most personal way, and I cannot appreciate her style enough ❤️ basically, go get this book. The end, that’s the review.
What can I say about Emily Henry books that the world does not already know? That they're perfect, amazing? That they literally take your breath away with every single page? That she has mastered the art of romance novels? I wouldn't go so far to say this is a rom-com, I would just say it's a romance that's pretty funny. Becaue the rapport that CHarlie and Nora had had me LAUGHING. I'm not even joking, this was some elite banter. And I didn't really know how much I loved grumpy grumpy until I read this, because were either of them really grumpy? And God, the way they were just destined to be together. Thinking about on it now gives me a heartache! There are just so many wonderful aspects to this novel. I loved the remiscing on New York and the way you could easily fall in love with New York just be reading this. This is the type of book a fourteen year old reads and decides to move to New York. I know this would've only solidified my decision and it affirms it now. And the sibling relationship! How refreshing is it to read about siblings who actually like each other? All in all, I adore this book. I wish I could read it again for the first time and then for a million more times. I think Emily Henry has proved, she can't write a bad book, even if she tried.

An insightful, delightful new novel from the number-one New York Times bestselling author of Beach Read and People We Meet on Vacation. One summer. Two rivals. A plot twist they didn't see coming....
Nora Stephens' life is books - she’s read them all - and she is not that type of heroine. Not the plucky one, not the laidback dream girl, and especially not the sweetheart. In fact, the only people Nora is a heroine for are her clients, for whom she lands enormous deals as a cutthroat literary agent, and her beloved little sister Libby.
I loved this book! A book about book lovers, read by book lovers and shared by book lovers.
4 stars
I loved this book! The Hallmarkesq meets NYC charm. I loved seeing a MC who did not want children. I loved the bond between the sisters.
Do I really need to start saying the same thing once again? Emily Henry did it again!
I truly enjoyed Beach read, People we meet on vacation and now Book lovers.
They're that kind of read that you pick up when you need to just zone out and enjoy a good book.
I haven't been reading much these days because life got in the way but I DEVOURED this one so I totally recommend it.
Once again we get to explore the book world in a different perspective: with Nora and Charlie's eyes.
Nora is a sharp literary agent and I really did see a lot of myself in her. She's really work focused, she love helping author's, she's very good at what she does and for this everyone believes she doesn't have a heart but in reality she has a kind heart and only needs someone who truly understands her.
Charlie is the one and the have a super good chemistry.
Overall the book goes very quickly and I totally recommend it to people who wants a romance that focuses around book nerds.
I'm super bad at writing romance reviews but I hope this helped you out!!
I finished Book Lovers sitting on the beach this morning with tears streaming down my face. Emily Henry has gifted us all with another romantic treasure. I think I love Beach Read and People We Meet on Vacation as much as Book Lovers but this one is especially wonderful for people of love reading and tropes all things bookish. I’m so glad I brought this one with me on this trip and I now have an unbearable wait for whatever she writes next.
I took this picture poolside yesterday during a particularly funny scene between Nora and her sister Libby. Their relationship and the way the early loss of their mother shaped their lives was one of my favorite aspects of the story. The best part, hands down, is the banter between Charlie and Nora. It’s just fantastic. I cried a lot and laughed even more. 10/10 recommend. All the stars.
Such a cute and swoony read. Love the banter between the characters and I just think Henry’s writing is lovely. I really enjoyed this book!
I loved this book. The banter was TOP NOTCH. I loved the dynamic between Nora and Charlie. It had some humor thrown in, and a great story. It couldn’t have gone any other way. These two are definitely soulmates. I swear, each book Emily Henry writes just gets better and better. Especially in the enemies-to-lovers trope. Can’t wait for her next one.
I honestly have no words that can adequately describe how much I loved this. The self-acceptance, healing, sisterhood, and romance were all beautifully explored. I love Nora so much. The romance was both sexy and tender. The banter between the two was amazing but Nora has planted herself in my bookish heart as one of my favorite contemporary romance heroines. She is the shining star of the story.
One of my favorite aspects of the book was how this was a book not only about book lovers falling in love but also a book written for book lovers. Henry took advantage of the fact that Nora is a book nerd to fill the book was beautiful literary metaphors and similes. That Wuthering Heights reference made me literally gasp.
I love the way she described Nora’s emotions by comparing it to a reading experience. Reading is such a solitary experience but reading this book made me see bookworms share an understanding when it comes to stories. We all feel similar emotions when we read a line in a book that strikes a chord in our heart, when our adrenaline spikes at the climax of the story, or when we feel that deep sad-happy emotion after reading a life-changing book. It made me so ridiculously happy to see those little references.
This is my favorite book by Emily Henry and I’m fairly confident is saying she has become my favorite contemporary romance author!
Another 5 star book from Emily Henry! I loved this book just as much as People We Meet On Vacation and Beach Read!! I loved the characters and the strong sister bond between Nora and Libby. The banter between Nora and Charlie was hilarious and I was laughing out loud when she yelled "LION!" in his face (iykyk). I'm also a big fan of enemies to lovers so this trope is right up my alley. I also enjoyed the references to romance tropes and all things books too! I was so happy with how everything ended for both Nora and Libby. I highly recommend this one! It's so fun and heartwarming and at times deep but still lighthearted, and so so good!
Man, I really wanted to love this book. I have to be honest, I haven't really loved any Emily Henry book I have read so far, but in this review, I am definitely in the minority. Book Lovers is for on-for book lovers. It tells the love story of Nora and Charlie, both in the publishing industry. First acquainted at a business lunch in NYC, they have a chance meeting while simultaneously vacationing in a rural town in North Carolina.
I can willingly suspend my disbelief in almost always, but there were too many unbelievable occurrences in Book Lovers. From the unbelievably long vacation granted by Nora's company, (although, a workaholic, she did work remotely) to the prolonged absence her pregnant sister took from her own husband and kids while she and Nora were on vacation, to a couple of minor plot twists that ended up just being too convenient for me. It seems that most readers have absolutely loved this book, but I found myself drifting off several times, unable to care or focus on the story. That said, I still am not giving up on Emily Henry. Thank you NetGalley and Berkley Publishing Group for this advanced copy which is available now!
Emily Henry has yet to disappoint me with her spicy romcoms! Each has pulled me in, and kept me enthralled the entire way, Book Lovers was no exception. I will be recommending it and purchasing a copy for my personal library!
I'm a huge Emily Henry fan, the way I feel she personally writes to me in her books is amazing, I truly relate. This book is made for book lovers, soooo...
I adored the characters, and the ending was so wholesome. Go read it.
Every year a new Emily Henry comes out, I think "this can't possibly be better than the one before" and then she proves me wrong! Book Lovers is my favorite book by her to date.
What I think Emily Henry does particularly well in Book Lovers is flip the stereotypes on their head. Nora is the woman who always gets left by the hero for the small town, girl next door. She's opinionated, strong willed, committed to her job, and she normally wouldn't get the guy. But in Book Lovers she does.
I loved Nora and Charlie's rapport and I loved Nora and Libby's relationship even more. Oftentimes in rom-coms, it feels like every side character is there just to act as a sounding board for the main character. But Emily Henry made the characters fully fleshed out with their own problems that we become invested in as well. I also loved the dual setting of small-town Sunshine Falls and New York City.
Overall, a really great read that deserves a spot on your reading list this summer!
I'd rate this as my favorite rom-com of the year. Henry has done a wonderful job of creating characters that one has no choice but to adore.
The love/hate (can you say sexual tension) relationship that occurs between the two lead characters is a foregone conclusion but the road to happiness is so fun that you don't want the trip to end.
Thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this ARC. It was my first Emily Henry book but won't be the last.
Emily Henry does it again!
These characters worked so well together and the book was a wonderful blend of romance tropes but self aware of them and made them better somehow.
The epilogue being in a different narration style and very short are my only really criticisms but really don't take away from my overall enjoyment of the novel.
I look forward to what the author does next and will be (im)patiently waiting to buy it for my library.
Sweet book that was as much a familial love story between sisters as it is a romance. Light summer fare for the beach or park.
*Thank you to Berkley, Emily Henry and NetGalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review*
The People We Meet on Vacation was one of my favorite contemporary romances so I was very excited when this book was gifted to me.
Nora is a literary agent, and Charlie is a book editor. Their first meeting several years before the book takes place is actually sort of rough. But when Nora's sister, Libby, suggests that her and Nora get away for a few weeks before Libby's third baby is due, Nora begrudgingly agrees. Little does she know that Charlie Lastra is staying there also, in Sunshine Falls, where the book Nora is agenting takes place. The book Charlie turned down several years ago. When Nora's editor has her baby a month early, Charlie agrees to help with the final edits.
The story of Nora and Charlie falling in love is beautiful but what sticks out in this book is the wit and banter. I rarely laugh out loud at books but this is absolute perfection. Some quotes -
"Maybe this is why people take trips, for that feeling of your real life liquefying around, like you do will tug on any other strand of your carefully built world."
"That's the thing about being an adult standing beside your childhood race car bed. Time collapses, and instead of the version of you you've built from scratch, you're all the hackneyed drafts that came before, all at once."
or
"Sometimes, even when you start with the last page and you think you know everything, a book finds a way to surprise you."
Gorgeous. This book is a work of art. Absolute perfection.
