The easiest 5 star review of the year!! I honestly get jealous by how natural Emily’s writing is. It’s like hanging out with your best friend. The humor and love just flows right off the page. I can’t help but have a ridiculous smile on my face anytime I read one of her books, she’s one of my favorite authors.

I don’t think I can adequately express how much I loved this book. Book Lovers made my heart soar for so many reasons. Yes, this is a ridiculously intense (and steamy) love story between workaholic literally agent Nora and brooding editor Charlie. But it’s also an emotional and beautiful love story of two sisters with an unbreakable bond, which is what really cracked my heart wide open. Minus some of the details about their life I can see so much of me and my little sister in Nora and Libby. Down to the fact that Libby calls Nora “sissy” which is what my sisters calls me, they made me laugh and cry. I understand Nora’s need to constantly take care of her sister she’ll do anything to see her happy even if it means putting her own needs and happiness second. But their relationship isn’t perfect it’s real. As Libby has gone on to get married and has 2 kids and one more on the way, Nora and Libby have drifted and kept secrets from one other. They just like everyone has communication issues and it leads for a roller coaster ride of emotions that I felt so deeply. I was so connected to these characters and their love of all things books that I never wanted it to end.

New York is where dreams are made, but small towns are magic. Nora Stephens is a shark. She’s a cutthroat literary agent, who thinks she’s the Evil Villainess instead of the heroine who gets the HEA. But that couldn’t be further from the truth, yes she’s a little emotionally unattached, but by no means is she mean. She’s had to be the rock of the family and raise her sister Libby after their mother passed away. To avoid her own grief she thrown herself into work and Libby and now all these years later, she’s successful but not really living. When her very pregnant sister begs her for a sisters’ trip to Sunshine Falls, North Carolina the setting of one of their favorite books for the month of August, Nora can’t say no. Libby has plans of a small town transformation for Nora, things like a makeover, riding a horse, even going on a date or two with a local. But instead of run-ins with a handsome country doctor or bulging-forearmed bartender, Nora keeps bumping into Charlie. It would be a meet-cute if not for the fact that they’ve met many times and it’s never been cute. If Nora thinks she’s the villain in someone else’s love story, then Charlie is the devil. As they are thrown together again and again what they discover might just unravel the carefully crafted stories they’ve written about themselves. As we learn about what makes Nora and Charlie the way they are we see they’re more similar then they think. They’re just two people trying to figure out where they truly belong.

Smart, sexy, and ultra funny this is a rom-com you must read. I can’t wait to see what Emily’s next title will do to my soul (probably just tear it out of my body).

Read if you like:
- Enemies to lovers
- Close proximity
- Strong sister bond
- Small town romance
- Love of books/reading/bookstores

Hands down, my favorite Emily Henry book yet! Loved the family dynamics, the archetypes, and that books were central to this story. Definitely one to add to your TBR! 4.5

I just got back from my honeymoon and I read so many books. Book lovers was hands down my favorite. I read it in less than 6 hours. If I could give it 6 stars I would. It had me from the very first page and kept me till the end. I can’t rave enough about it. Go buy it immediately. Like now. Go. I’ll wait.

I was a fan of her books before but man this one hit me in all my tropes. Fantastic read and I will recommend it all the rest of this year. May be my top read.

Thanks to Berkley, the author, and NetGalley for the free gifted copy in exchange for an honest review.

I devoured Book Lovers. I am just obsessed with the way Emily Henry writes romance books! I love how this book started off making fun of tropes and throughout the book, we never got a specific trope but we got tons of romance.

I loved the banter between the characters in this book and the characters themselves were just so perfectly developed I was obsessed. I absolutely hate the trope of the overworked corky girl who doesn’t date, but wow was this the exception because I loved Nora and she didn’t annoy me at all.

I legit only saw rave reviews about this book so whether you like romance or not I think you will be into this book. If you read Emily Henry’s other books and only liked the one I think you will like this one as well - it gives more Beach Read vibes to me which was my other fav.

So freaking good.

A romance novel with characters that are perfect stereotypes, yet actually relatable. It seems impossible, but it's true.

A romance novel that is predictable, yet somehow still has enough little surprises sprinkled through the pages to keep you engaged until the last page.

You should definitely read it.

I received this book free from NetGalley in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion.

Loved this book like I knew I would. Emily Henry does banter like no other and this new book did not disappoint. Relatively tight plot and sweet relatable characters. I did not want this book to end.

3.5 stars.
I can't believe I'm giving Emily Henry less than 4 stars when I LOVED LOVED LOVED People We Meet On Vacation but here we are. The romance just did not feel as solid to me. I liked Nora and Charlie together but their rivalry was weak despite them having good back and forth banter. 3 weeks doesn't seem like enough time to fall in love as hard as they did. The original reason Nora and Libby go to Sunshine Falls seemed a bit silly to me but I did like their to-do list while they were going to be there. The big foot stuff was pretty funny. The writing is still good so Emily Henry doesn't lose me there. The romance just wasn't strong enough to last through the whole story and I sort of lost interest for a while. Libby was a bit too flighty for me as well. It's a decent story but this is the weakest book that I've read from Emily so far.

Nora is a literary agent. A hero for the books, not of the books. She'll also do anything for baby sister Libby, which is why she's in North Carolina spending time with her. Libby has her own plans to help Nora take charge of her own life, and that's nice and all, but what's really getting Nora's goat is Charlie, the stormy, broody editor who also took off from the city to get away. So why can't she get away from him?! Perhaps these meetings have meaning, and these coincidences resemble fate moreso than the mark of a writer's coaxing, because the narrative for Nora is about to enter a whole new act, and maybe that's okay.

Who can write a romance novel about two grumps who don't know they need or want each other, and bring them together in the sweetest way ever? Emily Henry has a preternatural gift for elevating romance beyond what is on the page. Nora is a fantastic older sister, but like many older siblings, she's more concerned with her responsibilities than what it is she wants. Charlie has been through a lot, and part of that is also because of his position within his own family.

Charlie and Nora don't hit it off right away, in fact they almost positively don't like each other, but two people who love books usually find it difficult to despise each other for the rest of eternity. I loved Book Lovers, the story of two people who love books almost as much as I love them, and I will read anything Emily Henry puts to paper from now until the ink in all the world runs out. Recommended for people who devour books as if their soul depended on the sustenance that can only be obtained from liberally illuminating romantic writing.

This book was deeeelightful from beginning to end. Henry quickly became a must-read author for me, and I'm never disappointed. I love how the dialogue in this book was so really and snappy and funny. The characters were expertly drawn, and I was just so happy while I was reading this.

I’ve said this before and I will say it again. I’m not big on romance books but I’ve always been a fan of Emily Henry. Unfortunately this is my least favorite book of hers so far and I’m disappointed.

This book is about a literary agent and an editor who are first enemies and then lovers. That in itself sounds so fun but I think the idea was wasted here. This title and cover were also wasted. Ugh this sounds so harsh and I haven’t even begun my real complaints.

Our main character is basically super jaded, uptight, and mostly cares about her job. She doesn’t believe in happy endings or being swept off her feet. Now, I liked this approach of a main character - she sounds like me!

It was really annoying was that her personality wasn’t consistent. Her and Charlie basically immediately hit it off and were never really even enemies. Charlie himself was a boring old man (or at least came off as one and I just imagined him as a grandpa the entire time).

The romance was so hurried.. The prologue/setup were so good but then everything was rushed. Everything was a bit too convenient for me as well. I just didn’t care for either character and could have cared less if they worked out or not.

I liked the writing, it’s easy to read but.. I can’t say anything else worked out for me. I really hope I like Henry’s next book because I AM SO SAD I was ready for a new favorite. Thank you to Netgalley and Berkley for an advanced copy of this book.

Do you ever feel like an author made books just for you? That’s how I feel about Emily Henry . Everything I adore about a good romance can be found in her pages : copious amounts of sarcasm, witty remarks & comebacks. A depth to the relationship , an actual plot. (No shade 😆)

Side note: did you know the inspiration behind this book was 𝘠𝘰𝘶’𝘷𝘦 𝘎𝘰𝘵 𝘔𝘢𝘪𝘭 ? You can feel the essence of that movie in this book, and it’s one of my fav movies so you can maybe get why I adore this novel so much.

Book Lovers is like the ultimate inside joke . It pokes fun at all the overdone extra chest hallmark movies/books. Nora and Charlie are both in publishing, with Charlie being the unapproachable grump and Nora the career shark .

The connection that builds between them is beautiful to watch unfold. Emily Henry always writes relationships that feel organic and natural. The romance isn’t explicit but you definitely feel the heat .

And a moment for the side characters 👏 Libby her sister and everyone in town makes this book extra special . It wasn’t just a romance novel- it’s about the love and loyalty to family, the devastation that comes from loss and the sacrifices they make in order to see dreams come true.

Henry is also great at tension. I honestly wasn’t sure how this book was going to end.. there’s a lot stacked against Nora and Charlie and I definitely teared up getting through the last few chapters.
If you enjoy Henry’s books- I think you’ll really love this one. It’s full of the kind of wit and charm that make her books so engaging.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My ranking for her books is now:
1. Books Lovers
2. People We Meet on Vacation
3. Beach Read
(Should mention I love all her books- I know most ppl like BR better but PWMOV was reigning Queen until Book Lovers came out

I’ve loved all of Emily Henry’s books, but BOOK LOVERS is hands down my fave, and I cannot stop gushing about it!

I think this was probably my most anticipated romance for 2022 and it exceeded all of my expectations. I just loved that both Nora and Charlie were the prickly/grumpy trope and their banter was so good!

From the laughable moments to the tender ones, I think Emily got me to simultaneously swoon and cry.

*many thanks to Berkley for the gifted copy for review

Book Lovers so perfectly describes the gift of being loved by someone who knows you deeply and accepts you as you are.

I fell in love with Nora and Charlie and I loved Nora and her sister’s relationship even more.

I thought Henry was so clever in flipping the trope and focusing on the girl who usually gets dumped to advance someone else’s storyline. It was so satisfying to watch Nora finally break out of the mold she made for herself to help her and her sister survive after their mother’s death. While it was useful at the time, it also blinded her to how her sister was growing and changing and stopped her from pursuing her own desires.

I was so glad that Nora got to dream and then go achieve it.

I legitimately squealed when I got the email for this arc (after being declined originally, but I’m not complaining). This is definitely my favourite from this author, everything about it worked so freaking well. It just felt all snuggly and comfy when I started it, you know? Like when you know it’s going to be a good one. I loved the writing, the story, the characters. The characters are the best part – I love that the heroine is more of the ‘other woman’ from a hallmark movie than the actual heroine from the same movie. I love how the author basically deconstructed this character and made me fall in love with her. Charlie too. The characters are just super well developed and I felt like I really knew them. I just loved everything about this book, I loved that it wasn’t just a romance in the sense that we smoosh two people together and watch them fall in love, but also about their backgrounds, their families, their issues, compromises, and of course, all the fun little notes and odes to books for us book lovers.

Contemporary romance has been a comfort genre for me over the past couple of years. When the world/my life feels extra crazy, I know that books like these will get me laughing and give me a sweet storyline to focus on. That being said, while I’ve read quite a few books in this genre, I can say without hesitation that Book Lovers is one of the best.
One of the first aspects that caught my attention was how downright hilarious this book is. I must have gotten on my family’s nerves as I insisted on reading aloud all of my favorite lines. It’s the kind of witty humor that takes you by surprise, and it delivers throughout the book’s entirety.
Additionally, this story and its cast of characters are perfectly crafted from beginning to end. It’s incredible how this book acknowledges and pokes fun at various tropes without once feeling recycled or derivative. At first glance, Nora is a wonderfully self-aware and unapologetic city person who finds joy in her peloton and her career as a literary agent. As the story unfolds, however, this character is anything but two-dimensional. Getting to witness Nora’s arc as a devoted daughter, sister, partner, and friend was both bittersweet and beautiful.
Pair this stellar character development with vivid settings and a heartwarming love story and you’ve got a recipe for an incredible and hard-to-forget book. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: no one does it like Emily Henry.

Thank you to NetGalley and Berkey Publishing Group for providing an e-ARC of this title in exchange for an honest review.

while i do think this book has maybe one too many similarities to her adult romance debut, beach read, i do think there's something to be said for how fantastic emily henry is at making a reader care about her characters and their relationship. i'll be interested to see how this book stays with me. i really enjoyed beach read when i read it but it hasn't stuck with me the way i was hoping it would. but i absolutely loved people we meet on vacation and it's still one of the best romances i've ever read. i think book lovers falls somewhere in between the two for me.

i really loved the two main characters. nora is so strong and independent but still has some issues that she's working through. and seeing her figure things out in this book was really great. charlie is a really solid love interest who i found to be just as swoony as alex from people we meet on vacation and even more so than gus in beach read. i also really loved the sister dynamics between nora and libby. i loved all the side characters in this little town. and i loved the fact that this book is so self-aware that it almost feels like a meta experience reading it.

overall, will obviously continue to read whatever romances emily henry writes in the future. i think she's found the lane she's perfect for and i hope she stays in it for a long time.

What a great surprise!
I don’t read many romance/contemporary novels anymore, but Book Lovers was just what I needed!
It was actually funny, I especially enjoyed the banter between our MC, Nora, and the ‘love interest.’
The bond between Nora and her sister was so great to read about, it was complicated at times but I loved seeing about how much they cared for one another.
Since we’re following a literary agent (who reads a lot) and her rival (who’s an editor), this novel was very self-aware when it came to common book tropes and it was just downright very bookish.
The only reason I didn’t give this 5/5 was because it dragged a little bit in the middle.
All in all, another great read from Emily Henry.

*thank you NetGalley for the ARC and all opinions are my own*

The best and worst thing about Emily Henry books is that I never want them to end, but I can't stop reading them! Book Lovers was no exception. The way this author writes is always totally captivating to me. I am hooked by the end of the first page every single time.

Book Lovers is an enemies to lovers trope that identifies itself within the pages. This is a rom com making fun of rom coms and I am here for it LOL! It felt like the Netflix version instead of the Hallmark Channel.

I laughed out loud so many times. I also felt like this one was a little steamier than the last two books, but maybe I just felt more chemistry this time.

I also adored the family dynamics in Book Lovers. The families were a huge part of this plotline and it gave the book so much depth. I pretty much adored every single character.

If you liked The People We Meet on Vacation and Beach Read (especially Beach Read), you are going to love this one. Another slam dunk from this author who I have now sworn my allegiance to forever. Run to grab this one for your Summer Reading List!

Just the perfect romcom for me! Enemies (to friends) to lovers trope done just 👌🏼👌🏼. I laughed a lot. The banter between our two leads was great, but so was the dynamic between Nora and her sister, Libby. And the last hour of the book kept making me cry. Love a book that turns me into a quivering lipped baby. ⁣

🎧 The audio was great, narrated by Julia Whelan. I flew through it and loved the delivery. Thank you @librofm for the gifted ALC. ⁣

And dare I say, it’s my new favorite Emily Henry book. BOOK LOVERS is now number one. Followed by Beach Read, and then People We Meet on Vacation in third.
