I'm so in love with this book, honestly. The banter, the setting, the theme, all of it. The humor, I expected, but there was emotion to this writing, and found myself crying through a few scenes. I've preordered it and gushed to anyone who enjoys rom-coms and well-crafted writing.

This book is the second one by Emily Henry that I’ve read. Since I loved “People We Meet on Vacation,” I did not doubt that I would enjoy her latest, “Book Lovers.” I was not wrong! This character-driven, contemporary romance is my kind of book. Both Nora and Charlie are smart, driven, cerebral characters. They are the perfect “enemy-to-lover type of couple.
Both have complex backgrounds that have led to their off-beat, sarcastic, and sassy personalities. Their unfolding story, both joint and separate, hits all the right places to give us an outstanding “stranded/love in a small town” love story.
This book is the perfect beach read to make you laugh, cry, sigh, and root for the characters.

The first two chapters of this rom-com were dynamite (like the best scenes of your favorite movie version), and the story was overall very entertaining. I was held back, though, from giving this 5 stars, because I will admit that I was put off by the number of times "f-ing" was used as an adjective--and this by a character who was a book editor whose verbal skills are supposedly above the ordinary. The f-word used judiciously makes a statement, but free-flowing f-bombs make another statement altogether. Unfortunate, in an otherwise compelling novel.

Emily Henry stole my heart with Beach Read and I wasn’t sure anything could top that, but this one definitely did. It wasn’t just the romance that captivated me, it was the relationship between two sisters who clearly love each other more than anything. I found myself drawn into their story and rooting for them the entire time. The ending was everything I could’ve hoped for, and I’ll forever read anything she writes!

Adorable. Love the wit and character growth. It includes descriptions of sex and sex acts so if that’s a ‘turn-off’ this one isn’t for you.
Thanks to NetGalley for a free ebook read in exchange for my thoughts. #recommend #BookLovers #NetGalley

Cute enemies to lovers story about Nora, a literary agent from Manhattan who goes on a sisters’ getaway for a month with her sister and keeps meeting up with Charlie, an editor from the city with whom she’s had issues in the past. They keep finding themselves in weird situations and eventually realize they have more in common - and more chemistry - than they realized!

Nora Stephens is a book agent who is all business, working full out for her clients and giving moral support to her younger sister and her growing family. She has read all types of romance, and yet can never see her self as the heroine in any way. While pitching her client's latest hit to be to book editor Charlie Lastra, she finds him an aggravating and abrasive character, and eventually sells the story to another publisher where it is a great success.

At the persistent request you her sister Libby, Nora agrees to take an extended trip to a southern town which served as the setting of her author's novel, where Libby can relax at the end of her third pregnancy and perhaps Nora can take a break from her hectic life and maybe appreciate the simple life. Instead she runs into Charlie, who has ties to this town, and as she gets to know the residents and, to her dismay, Charlie better many twists and turns occur that cause her to look at her life in a different way. A very fun and satisfying story.

This is the third book I’ve read by Emily Henry and each simply gets better and better! I love how this book played with classic 'hallmark movie' tropes in a very self-aware way, and it was extremely enjoyable to read. The quick, snarky banter back and forth had me laughing out loud many times while also including conversations that cover deeper, more emotional topics. Nora and Charlie’s sarcasm and constant need to tease the other is absolutely engaging. It had me smiling and laughing and rolling my eyes right alongside them. It was exactly the kind of smart and ridiculous humor that I love. The relationships developed in a seamlessly way, that was also fully of respect for one another. Libby, Nora's younger sister, is one of the best supporting characters I've read in a while, and I was fully invested in her story too, though nothing else going on ever felt distracting from the romance, or vice versa. It all fits together. I adored Libby and Nora’s relationship. As much as the book was a love story between Charlie and Nora, it was also a love story between the 2 sisters. Their relationship was a key part of this story and I enjoyed watching it grow and change. Seeing how Nora and Libby have handled grief in different ways and how they're struggling with their relationship because they're realizing that they fundamentally want different things felt so real. They both reminded me of Lorelai and Rory from “Gilmore Girls”. Their relationship made me wish that I had a sister.

I appreciated how unapologetic both of the main characters were about themselves, neither had to change who they were to make things work between the both of them. I also love that while Nora and Charlie have an initial misunderstanding, they work through it with communication and don't have some big blow up fight near the end that breaks them up. I always hate that type of fight in romance whether in a book or a movie, and Emily Henry delivers the conflict without the love interests fighting each other. She has them communicate and grow closer to realize how they can help each other achieve their dreams. “Book Lovers” is without a doubt one of my favorite romances I’ve read in ages. Nobody writes a slow-burn romance like Emily Henry. The way Emily writes is so unique and just makes me feel like I am a part of the story every single time. I highly recommend this book for those who like a good romance with complex characters. Thank you Netgalley, Emily Henry, and Berkley for providing this e-book in exchange for an honest review. I can’t wait for her next book!

I cried at the end, and I don’t cry while reading books. This romance made me feel like my own Charlie Lastra could be out there somewhere. It’s just such a hopeful read. Amazing.

Between the family aspects and the enemies to lover romance I was absolutely sold on this book.

Nora was a great main character. I really felt her struggles as she tried to balance following her passions and remaining loyal to her sister. I loved her character arc and her POV throughout the book. She was funny, intelligent, sharp-witted, and a great main character. Her conflicts throughout the book consistently drew me closer to her and made me feel for her. I loved the balance and development she found as her relationship with Charlie evolved. He was equally funny, intelligent, and sharp-witted but provided balance to Nora’s character. They were both very self-sacrificing when it came to their families but really came to bat for each other and helped the other realize that it’s OK to go after their dreams and not sacrifice your own happiness and wellbeing for others.

The relationship between Nora and Libby was a great representation of an adult sibling relationship. I loved seeing how close both women were while simultaneously seeing the conflict develop between them. Both characters gave a lot of themselves to the other sister and, while some of that was sweet, I loved seeing the author draw lines between the two and establish healthy boundaries between them. Their relationship and it’s conflict made me feel closer to both characters and helped keep the story moving.

The setting was so wonderful! The town fluctuated between idyllic quaint vacation village and a bit of a letdown depending on the scene, so there was a lot of variety to be found within a single small town. It came to mean different things to different characters as the story progressed and I really loved seeing the setting have such an impact on the plot and characters.

This is a great example of a book about books- both Nora and Libby are bookworms and it shows. I loved the scenes where they compared notes about Dusty’s new book and geeked out together about editing and publishing. It was generally an interesting perspective but also served as one of those “aww, so cute!!” aspects of their relationship.

This review is kind of vague, partially because I’m trying to avoid spoilers but mostly because I’m just at a loss for words! Bottom line: you should read this book. I loved Beach Read but didn’t love People We Meet on Vacation as much. Book Lovers brought me back to that Beach Read level of love for Henry’s writing. I would recommend giving this a read if you’re looking for a good book about books, romance, and sibling relationship.

Emily Henry has my heart, it's official. No surprise, I loved "Book Lovers" and the endless witty banter Henry excels at.

Nora Stephens is a literary agent who lives to work. Charlie Lastra is the unbearable editor. Sparks fly. These characters are hilarious and the nod to common bookish tropes is a joy for real life book lovers. The sisterly bond between Nora and Libby shows the sweet side of Nora that few get to see. Having lost my mother in my 20s, I absolutely loved the portrayal of grief in this novel. From the thoughtful traditions the sisters carry on to Nora's own struggles, this hit home for me.

"Book Lovers" will have you laughing out loud one moment and crying both happy and sad tears in the next. Highly recommend for all romance fans.

Is there anything better than a book about BOOKS?

No!

Except, maybe, a book about the bond between sisters, enemies to lovers, coping with grief, finding your place, AND books!!

Book Lovers has all of it, and more! The title alone was enough to grab my attention. We follow Nora Stephens, a successful, ruthless literary agent. She loves her job, and she's good at it. However, when her younger sister, Libby, suggests they take a sisters' trip to a smalltown in North Carolina, Nora doesn't hesitate (anything for her sister!). Libby is hoping to show Nora there is more to life than her big city, big job life through her bucket list of cliche, small town experiences (from skinny dipping to saving a small business). Nora is willing to go with the flow to keep her sister happy, but the flow keeps leading Nora to her work nemesis, Charlie Lastra, a book editor.

OF COURSE the two have insane sexual tension! OF COURSE there are lots of literary/bookish moments! OF COURSE it's all absolutely delightful!

As always, Emily Henry strikes that perfect balance of sweet and steamy. There is so much sweetness from the two sisters, Libby's kids and husband, the smalltown, the bookish vibes, and the sisters' backstory. You get the steamy moments everytime Nora and Charlie share a scene (hello, sexual tension).

If you like books or love, then judge this book by the title and go for it!

Emily Henry's books never cease to amaze me. Once again she's given it her all with Book Lovers. This book made me laugh out loud on several occasions. Nora's love for her family and her relationship with her sister was so endearing. Nora and Libby's banter was so fun and charming to read, which made the stress in their relationship all the more heart wrenching to read. However, Nora and Charlie's relationship was absolutely everything. Their relationship has so many tropes which was very fitting given the fact that this book leans heavily into them. If you love enemies-to-lovers (or really, frenemies-to-lovers), this one's for you. The dialogue between Charlie and Nora was at parts funny and other times sexy. If Augustus from Beach Read made your knees weak, then Charlie will absolutely steal your heart. I cannot recommend this book enough!

I cannot express the joy of reading an Emily Henry novel. I go through a whole emotional journey. Catharsis is guaranteed. Whatever worries about myself that I've been putting on hold, a constant buzz of doubt in the background of all that I do, I am walked through vicariously with her wonderful characters. Using the tropes of the romance genre, our leading character is able to process a major unexpected change in action. It's lit. If you're a sucker for a small town romance, are a Dan and Blair shipper (Gossip Girl fans, where you at?), or have ever felt deep loneliness, please enjoy this and then buy copies for your friends.

Okay, I’ve finally recovered enough from reading this book to post about it. BOOK LOVERS, Emily Henry’s newest contemporary romance, more than delivers the smart, laugh-out-loud, swoon-worthy romance we’ve come to expect from from her.

This is by far my new favorite from Henry, and not *just* because it gives me “Cameron Diaz in The Holiday takes on Stars Hollow” energy. It’s the banter! The coffee! The let’s-make-fun-of-Hallmark-romance vibes! The running Bigfoot erotica jokes! I truly cannot wait for you all to meet Nora and Charlie (and Libby and Dusty all of the Sunshine Falls townies).

Trust me when I say you don’t want to miss this one. I've already recommended it to several patrons, a fre friends.... and also my dermatologist.

This is Emily Henry's best so far! Truly a fun and well-planned conceit (the protagonist being the cold, big-city woman the guy usually leaves for the small town baker/hotel owner), really thoughtful, warm, charming and clever. I'm a newer reader of the genre and have read a LOT of books recently that try to pull off what Emily Henry does effortlessly - the tropes don't feel old or forced here, these are well-drawn characters whose problems feel real and you really root for them. I also loved the little references to Beach Read!

I love Emily Henry. I will forever read anything she writes. I loved the first three quarters of this book. There is something about a bookish premise that automatically makes a novel exceptional in my mind. I didn’t feel like this was a shallow romance, but one where sisterly bonds run deep. I love Nora’s character and I thought it is one that doesn’t get enough representation. A woman passionate about her work who doesn’t ultimately get “saved” from that lifestyle in the end. This book reminds me that motherhood isn’t the ONLY acceptable role for women but that it really is okay to love your work and strive to be the best in your field.

This is actually my first Emily Henry book and no surprise, it lived up to the hype! I liked that it was a mixture of cuteless, yearning, and complex live situations. I also enjoyed the relationship dynamic between the main character and her sister. Charlie was charming and the town itself was a lot of fun. The bookish aspects of the story were fun as well.
