Loved this so much! While I've loved all of Henry's books, this is definitely my favorite so far. I loved the smart take on the classic "boss" woman trope in romances, as well as the small town romance. A classic.
Emily Henry has established herself as an autobuy author for me, but I have to say that this is not my favorite of her releases in the adult romance genre so far.
This is my favorite of Emily Henry’s books to date. I though that the title matched the content, finally! It was a great beach read with a little more substance. It made me excited for our trip to NYC and ready to go back to visit the Asheville area again soon!
Another hit by Emily Henry. How could I not read a book with the title Book Lovers and at a time I am gravitating to Romances.
I enjoyed this more than I did Ms Henry’s People you Meet on Vacation. Book Lovers had the required banter and romance while including an ambitious career woman and loving family member …. And a bookstore!
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this copy.
This is the best romance story I’ve recently read! The smartest enemies to lovers trope I’ve ever devoured. Emily Henry is an incredible talent and this book proves that she’s brilliant at writing nuanced protagonists with stunning romantic chemistry. Nora and Charlie were just pitch perfect together. I can’t wait to reread this again. It’s reread-worthy.
Such a great read. The characters were all amazing and Nora and Charlie were so cute together. Filled with super fun banter and plenty of slow burn sexy time.
this was phenomenal--I cannot say enough about how much I loved this book. small town boy, city girl, and just sooo much emotion. ily Emily Henry <3
So this was just another Emily Henry book. Nothing spectacular but a fun read nonetheless. I'll read her next one.
Emily Henry does it again! Heartwarming, funny and unexpected. Would recommend and absolutely read again.
I've been slow to jump on to the Emily Henry bandwagon, but now that I'm on it, I'm never getting off! Her books are so fun and well written and frankly, Book Lovers was just the contemporary romance that I was looking to read right now.
I liked both of the main characters right away. Nora is a literary agent in NYC. She's a little controlling but as you learn her backstory, she has good reason for being so. Although she's very dedicated to her career, she's not a robot. Her younger sister means everything to her and she would do anything to protect her and keep her safe, even though she's married now and the mother of (almost) three children.
Meanwhile, Charlie also works in the NYC book scene as an editor. He's just as dedicated to his job as Nora is to hers, but he's got a quick wit and a salty tongue. Some of his comments during the scene where he and Nora first meet are so funny. I could tell that even though he and Nora both had different ideas about books and writing, they also had a lot in common as well.
Book Lovers is filled with a lot of fun surprises as the story progresses. I loved reading about the sister relationship between Nora and her younger sister Libby. They grew up incredibly close because of their Mom being busy working and because they know each other so well, some of the dialogue between them was just hilarious. I was like, yup... only siblings can speak that way to each other.
If you liked Beach Read or People We Meet on Vacation, I think you will really like this book as well. It's another fun dive into the world of Emily Henry books and honestly, it might be my favorite of hers so far. I just love a good enemies to lovers book, and Book Lovers did a great job at that.
Thank you to Netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Book Lovers by Emily Henry was amazing. I loved loved loved this book. I will be adding it our Book Club List for the bookstore. GREAT BOOK!!!
I did read the whole thing, but found myself wanting a lot more. The story could definitely use more weirdness and specificity of place. I appreciated some variations on popular tropes but could have used more.
I was not a fan of Emily Henry's first two books. I am clearly in the minority for thinking what I do. However, the synopsis of Book Lovers sounded so good, that I wanted to give it a fair chance. And I'm so glad that I did! While all of the humor Emily Henry uses is not really for me, I thoroughly enjoyed the story, and there were a few moments that literally made me laugh out loud. Third time was definitely the charm for Emily Henry's books. I'm looking forward to her next book now!
INCREDIBLE, AMAZING, SENSATIONAL. Emily Henry really outdid herself with Book Lovers - I loved Nora and Charlie. They might be my favorite Emily Henry couple. As always, she had me in my feels, making me cry and swoon in the same book.
Definitely my favorite from this author. Fun, quirky characters that poke fun of the tropes of romance novels while still being a romance novel. Very enjoyable, easy to recommend.
This book is a delight of playing with tropes, twisting them around, and still delivering the delicious satisfaction one would expect. I adored the characters all around with each given a chance to grow and shine!
Thank you PRH International and Berkley Romance for providing a copy in exchange for an honest review.
I glad to buddy read this with my book gfs Rhy (@bookclubph) and Nickle (@nicklereads) for our book club — Reads and Rambles PH
I guess I'm part of the black sheep book community for finding this book average. Book Lovers is a highly anticipated novel by many and I was one of them. It's sad to say it didn't lived up to its hype.
Nora Stephens and Charlie Lastra belong in the same field. Nora is a literary agent and has merciless reputation on her job. You've got to commend her because she's good on it. She and Charlie butthead constantly. You can tell there's a sexual tension between them. Another side of the story, Nora and her sister Libby have a getaway in a small town called "Sunshine Falls" and coincidentally, Charlie is there.
Hear me out, Charlie and Nora lacked the chemistry. I didn't like the romance at all and they seem platonic. I think the story focuses more on Nora and Libby's relationship. They're tight as knit and as much as I adore their bondingsomething is lacking. Everything is forced and I didn't find any of them memorable. The plot twist is too shallow for me.
The reason I gave it 3 stars because of Nora. There are times I find her infuriating but her vulnerability makes her relatable. She's a selfless, hardworking woman. I sort of see myself in her for putting others first before myself. Some of you find this a toxic trait because that's what a caring person do. We even forget ourselves in order for others to be happy. Somehow, Nora learns how to balance it in this book and I love her for pursuing what she wanted to be.
This book was good, but felt very safe and didn’t really provide anything “new”. The plot was cute and overall it was a nice feel-good book, but it didn’t stand out among all the other romances out there.
I adored this book. Emily Henry never disappoints, and I believe this is my favorite of hers yet. The chemistry, the tension, the twists and turns were so fun to read. There was real emotion and real loss. You get the full gambit of emotions with this read. I loved it so much and have already recommended it several times. I will continue to do so as well. Can't wait for her next book!
I love Emily Henry. There’s no one that can create characters and setting quite like her. I instantly fell in love with every characters, even just the side characters and townsfolk. One of my favorite reads of the year!
