So, so good. This is the best of her three most recent releases — and I loved the other two. The three principal characters: Nora, Charlie, and Libby, are each well developed and sympathetic. The humour was sharp and perfect — and the book was banned from our bed as the laughing kept my husband awake. It has been a really long time since a book helped me to forget all the “noise and haste” and just immerse myself in a story and it’s characters. This romantic comedy is full of tropes, and it works so well in this book. Not once did I think “too glitchy”, and I think this often when reading.

Emily Henry — you have outdone yourself and I could not have been happier with this read.

With thanks to Berkley Publishing Group for this ARC because I honestly don’t think I could have waited until May 2022 for the release.

Emily Henry has done it again! She just gets better and better with each release. I loved the dynamic between Charlie and Nora, which was just endearing as the relationship between Nora and her sister. The characters are so well-developed and fleshed out -- they truly felt like real people! It's undeniable that Henry is an immensely gifted writer.

Five stars, absolutely loved this book! Perfect follow up to People We Meet on Vacation. Emily Henry never disappoints.

Book Lovers moves a little slower than other of Ms. Henry's books. But I absolutely loved the characters. Charlie's Mom was my favorite. Beautiful read!!

Emily Henry strikes the perfect balance with a story that has so much humor but also tells an emotional story of characters that have depth. The premise was such a fun and fresh look at the stereotypical Hallmark movie trope - MC goes to a small town and leaves their big city life (and type-A, tightly wound girlfriend) for a simpler life with the sweet girl-next-door. Nora, the protagonist in Book Lovers, is that tightly wound, big-city girlfriend who gets dumped for the nice girl every time. I really enjoyed getting to know her and Charlie and seeing how their story unfolds. True to its name, this book is for Book Lovers! Nora is a literary agent and Charlie is an editor. Even the plot takes place in a town from a book within this book. Did I even mention the sister relationship!? We love to see it. I highly highly recommend this book. Emily Henry will break your heart then put it back together every time.

I loved this! Heartwarming and at times heartbreaking. A really good ode to learning that physical distance doesn't always mean emotional, as well.

Delightful. My favorite of Henry’s books thus far. The banter is impeccable. I wish the Nora’s sister didn’t call her “sissy” as often as she does, but otherwise it was a great time.

This book is a classic Emily Henry novel with a deep exploration of grief, heartwrenching romance, and the beautiful and tender way of knowing oneself and falling so wholly and irrevocably in love. Her characters are real and well-loved and feel like people you could run into on the street, in the library, or in a coffee shop. As with all her books, when you finish, you just want more but you also feel satisfied because you were given just enough. Nora and Charlie fell in love with each other while we fell in love with Nora and Charlie together and apart. Another take on a small-town romance never felt so new and fresh,

I loved this book! The main characters were so relatable and interesting. Nora is a literary agent workaholic with an adoring younger sister, Libby, that Nora has always taken care of. When Libby begs Nora to take a break from her busy schedule and take a trip to a small town in North Carolina, Nora sees a chance to mend whatever distance has slowly started to build between the sisters. When Nora runs into an old nemesis, she slowly discovers how to balance her work and personal life.

Reading a book about characters who love books made it so easy to connect with the story. Emily Henry's writing style is so cozy and cute; I could read Nora and Charlie Banter all day long.

Thank you to Netgalley for providing an ARC of this book.

My first Emily Henry book was “Beach Read”- which I absolutely loved, so I thought “Book Lovers” would be more of the same, but it was more in a different way then I had expected.

While this book does have a taste of enemies to lovers in the book publishing world, this is also a book about family.

The Love between the heroine, Nora, and her sister Libby are at the heart of the story just as much as Nora and Charlie. Henry does an excellent job of weaving together these different types of love to tell a beautiful and well crafted story.

There are lots of things to love about this book:

-Emily Henry is a fantastic story teller. She really is good at her craft.

- Her metaphors and similes get me every time. How is it possible that she’s able to describe things that I’ve felt but never been able to put into words?

-The witty banter between Nora and Charlie is entertaining, smart, and funny.

-loved, loved, LOVED all the book references and metaphors.

-one of my favorite things is how I felt like I was going to be bamboozled at first. I questioned if this was going to be a romance story at all. For the first time I really felt like giving up on a “happy ending” because sometimes real life isn’t like a story. Nora was so relatable on this front. She thought about life like stories, but realized she had to think about reality. I was going to be mad because the book was running out of pages and it was too much like real life. And then, well it was wasn’t what I thought, and it was everything. Absolutely everything.

If you have enjoyed Henry’s other books I’m sure you will enjoy this one!

Book Lovers was a breath of fresh air and everything a "book lover" could have asked for in a romance.

The words wouldn't be able to justify and elaborate the amount of love I not only have for Nora and Charlie but also for the secondary characters, this book and Ms. Henry. I just loved it!!

Emily Henry does it again! Another charming, witty contemporary romance with just the right mix of humor and heart from an author who is rapidly becoming an all time favorite. Nora and Charlie are a delightful pair of main characters, and I loved seeing them continue to meet each other at the most inopportune of times before eventually falling in love. Both leads and their respective struggles were well illustrated throughout the story, and they were accompanied by a winsome supporting cast, most of whom were also well developed. I laughed out loud at several points throughout the novel (particularly during the community theater scene), and was on the verge of tears at others. As cheesy as it sounds, it's rare to find a writer who can so fully convey what it means to be a human being, both in and out of love. Another home run for Emily Henry!

Nora’s life is work, when her pregnant sister Libby wants to get away for a few weeks they pick a small town that was the center of one of Nora’s book clients latest book. While there Nora runs into Charlie who’s is a book editor, and is quite short with Nora and happens to be from this small town. As they continue to run into each other they find their first meeting along with other runs were probably not on the best of terms.

*I am disappointed with one part of this book. There’s a line in which pregnant Libby had a couple of sips of wine. I truly hope that is taken out of the final books alcohol, no matter what stage of pregnancy is dangerous for the baby. Fetal alcohol syndrome is a life long problem and they do not grow out of it.*

This book. This book is perfect through and through. Emily Henry made me so happy when she returned to the enemies to lovers trope and dare I say it, Book Lovers is even better than Beach Read! The drama, the editor vs agent, the small town checklist, and my god the steamy steamy scenes. Read this book! You won’t regret it!

I would NOT call myself a rom-com reader, but Emily Henry has become an AUTO BUY author. I was so excited to get this e-galley and actually read it in a day -- at times, on my Peloton -- if you know, you know :) I always love books about books, so I knew that I would love a book that features a book editor and a literary agent! The publishing world is a workplace that intrigues me so much, so it was a perfect aspect of the story. Also, the cover is just amazing!

Since I am not a rom-com reader, I've been trying to figure out what it is about Emily Henry's writing that I love so much. Here are some things that I've reflected on

- The dialogue! It's so real and genuinely funny. The quick, snarky banter back and forth had me laughing out loud many times while also including conversations that cover deeper, more emotional topics.

- The realness -- usually I don't enjoy rom-com's because they feel too unrealistic and "hallmarky," but the way that Emily Henry writes is just the right balance of believability/rawness and light/fun. The characters feel like people I know. The conversations they have feel like real conversations. The character's emotions, motives, and experiences are so genuine and relatable.

- It is so easy to read. Typically, I read very detailed, character-driven, emotional books, so reading Emily Henry's books always feel like a fabulous vacation.

I will definitely be rereading this as we get closer to pub day and will be pre-ordering it! Thank you Netgalley, Emily Henry, and Berkley for providing this ebook in exchange for an honest review. BOOK LOVERS will be published May 3, 2022, so be on the lookout and get excited :)

This book hit every note perfectly. I haven't cried over a romance novel in SO LONG, and this had me curled in a ball crying over their relationship so many times that I lost count. That's a good thing, right? I'm going with yes. I love how vulnerable both the main characters were, and the complicating factors felt real, and their reactions to them did as well.

Also, I'm not going to lie. I was thrilled to see a woman who doesn't want kids, and wasn't going to apologize for it. More, please!

When I got an advance copy of this book from the publisher, I booked a babysitter for the next week so I could read this brilliant book cover to cover under my new heated blanket. And of course, Emily Henry did not disappoint. I woke up the next morning thinking about how lucky I feel that I get to live in a world where she's creating these stories.

Book Lovers is a celebration of a lot of things: It's an ode to family and sisterhood, an exploration of what makes a home, and a love letter to New York City. It has so much fun with literary tropes and honors the publishing industry and, maybe best of all, centers a woman who's a notorious shark in her field. She's ruthless, driven, smart and knows what she wants —and ultimately, it's a GOOD thing. More of that please!! Tenacious women should be celebrated! I think this book will make a lot of women feel seen.

This is, of course, also a book about Nora and Charlie: an agent and an editor in NYC who start off on the wrong foot but run into each other enough times over a summer away from the city that suddenly that doesn't matter anymore. They are great together in this book. The chemistry! The banter! The emotional intelligence! Nobody writes a slowburn romance like Emily Henry and even she outdid herself this time.

Book Lovers is a strong 5/5 stars for me, and I would give it more stars than that if I could. Jealous of anyone who still gets to read it for the first time.

I love anything Emily Henry writes, and Book Lovers is no exception! Back and forth banter, physical chemistry, complicated pasts, and a mutual love of books make Nora and Charlie a delightful couple to read. And poking fun at romance tropes along the way is great too. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and I think other readers will as well!

4.5*
So…ready to live out your rom-com fantasy life?

Nora didn’t think she was. After all, Nora is a driven, cutthroat literary agent. Her job is cracking the whip, keeping her writers on track to write about these very fantasies. She certainly doesn’t have time to live them. But her dear sister Libby has other plans for her.

Libby takes her to the picturesque, small town of Sunshine Falls NC. (As described in the best-selling book from one of Nora’s favorite clients.) Unfortunately, she may not be able to fully put the city life behind. She’s shocked to find that her most dreaded editor just happens to be right here in Sunshine Falls too.

Are you serious?! Can she not get away from him? Does she truly want to?

This book takes you on a journey from enemies to lovers’ rom-com with everything in between. The characters developed wonderfully and I instantly connected with all of them. Even the grouchy ones! Lol! The banter between the characters was snarky but also fun and witty. And, always put a broad smile on my face!

I sometimes have difficulty with this trope as the constant bickering becomes jarring. But cleverly, Emily Henry made their texts and conversations fun…even when they were fighting.😜

I’m a huge fan of this author and cannot wait for her next!

A rom-com weekend buddy read with Susanne that left us both smiling!😊
