Truly one of the most unique books. The idea that this is a reversed Hallmark movie appealed to me so much. The main characters, Charlie and Nora, both work in the literary world and Henry does a good job at really letting us see what that world is like.

Okay I may be one of the only romcom readers that has not read an Emily Henry book yet, and right now I am regretting that choice. (Beach Read here I come).
This book was so good! It just felt so real and raw! I loved all of these imperfectly perfect characters. They were flawed, they all had their motivations, they were different, and this whole book while following romcom tropes and rules really was so different. Nora was so complex and I loved unfolding all her layers to see who she was. She tried so hard to be perfect and everything while she also felt like she was failing the one person she loved the most. Charlie is way more than he seems and truly has the heart of gold that feels like he’s also never fit in and never enough.
How she combined big city dreamers to longing for the past magic of childhood with unique characters and quirky small town moments is beyond me, but it all worked together in a magical way that felt real and honest.
I loved this book. No negatives. It was so fun and sweet and pretty much broke my heart because I really wasn’t sure if I was getting my happy ending here.
If Beach Read was popular last year, this one is going to blow it away.
OH and the fact that they love books?! And the book references with small town or locally owned bookstores? Come on this is a book lovers dream book and story.

Pretty cute romance. City girl heads to small town for a vacation with her sister, where she runs into her work nemesis, who happens to live there. Romance ensues. Some cute moments. Some witty "inspired by Gilmore Girls" banter. But this town doesn't make sense, is it small, is it big? Do people care about it (attend city hall meetings) or not (run down buildings). And then you add in deception, just not my favorite bag of tricks. And a sad past, with trauma attached. Just too much packed into a meet cute story

This is my first Emily Henry novel and I am impressed! I thought it was a little long and could definitely be edited down some pages but overall it was a solid romance with funny characters.

This is the first book in a LONG time that gave me full body chills when I finished it! I immediately wished I hadn't read it so that I could experience it again... yes, it was THAT good!
Nora is sick of all the romance tropes she sees in her job as a literary agent: city boy meets city girl, city boy visits small town, city boy falls for small town girl, city girl is dumped by city boy. It doesn't help that she was just dumped by her city boyfriend... for a small town girl.
Charlie is the storm cloud of the editing world. Quick-witted and sharp-tongued, he's viewed as the sullen, handsome literary genius who's not afraid to tell authors the truth, no matter how much it stings.
While they know each other professionally, city girl Nora and city boy Charlie really learn each other more when they coincidentally meet up in... a small town in North Carolina.
The cast of characters in this book are all so dynamic and well-rounded. From Nora's spunky sister Libby to Charlie's wonderfully over-the-top mom Sally, each character is a joy to read. The romance is slow-burning but oh, so worth it.
I cannot recommend this book enough!

So, so good. This is the best of her three most recent releases — and I loved the other two. The three principal characters: Nora, Charlie, and Libby, are each well developed and sympathetic. The humour was sharp and perfect — and the book was banned from our bed as the laughing kept my husband awake. It has been a really long time since a book helped me to forget all the “noise and haste” and just immerse myself in a story and it’s characters. This romantic comedy is full of tropes, and it works so well in this book. Not once did I think “too glitchy”, and I think this often when reading.
Emily Henry — you have outdone yourself and I could not have been happier with this read.
With thanks to Berkley Publishing Group for this ARC because I honestly don’t think I could have waited until May 2022 for the release.

Emily Henry has done it again! She just gets better and better with each release. I loved the dynamic between Charlie and Nora, which was just endearing as the relationship between Nora and her sister. The characters are so well-developed and fleshed out -- they truly felt like real people! It's undeniable that Henry is an immensely gifted writer.

Five stars, absolutely loved this book! Perfect follow up to People We Meet on Vacation. Emily Henry never disappoints.

Book Lovers moves a little slower than other of Ms. Henry's books. But I absolutely loved the characters. Charlie's Mom was my favorite. Beautiful read!!

Emily Henry strikes the perfect balance with a story that has so much humor but also tells an emotional story of characters that have depth. The premise was such a fun and fresh look at the stereotypical Hallmark movie trope - MC goes to a small town and leaves their big city life (and type-A, tightly wound girlfriend) for a simpler life with the sweet girl-next-door. Nora, the protagonist in Book Lovers, is that tightly wound, big-city girlfriend who gets dumped for the nice girl every time. I really enjoyed getting to know her and Charlie and seeing how their story unfolds. True to its name, this book is for Book Lovers! Nora is a literary agent and Charlie is an editor. Even the plot takes place in a town from a book within this book. Did I even mention the sister relationship!? We love to see it. I highly highly recommend this book. Emily Henry will break your heart then put it back together every time.

I loved this! Heartwarming and at times heartbreaking. A really good ode to learning that physical distance doesn't always mean emotional, as well.

Delightful. My favorite of Henry’s books thus far. The banter is impeccable. I wish the Nora’s sister didn’t call her “sissy” as often as she does, but otherwise it was a great time.

This book is a classic Emily Henry novel with a deep exploration of grief, heartwrenching romance, and the beautiful and tender way of knowing oneself and falling so wholly and irrevocably in love. Her characters are real and well-loved and feel like people you could run into on the street, in the library, or in a coffee shop. As with all her books, when you finish, you just want more but you also feel satisfied because you were given just enough. Nora and Charlie fell in love with each other while we fell in love with Nora and Charlie together and apart. Another take on a small-town romance never felt so new and fresh,

I loved this book! The main characters were so relatable and interesting. Nora is a literary agent workaholic with an adoring younger sister, Libby, that Nora has always taken care of. When Libby begs Nora to take a break from her busy schedule and take a trip to a small town in North Carolina, Nora sees a chance to mend whatever distance has slowly started to build between the sisters. When Nora runs into an old nemesis, she slowly discovers how to balance her work and personal life.
Reading a book about characters who love books made it so easy to connect with the story. Emily Henry's writing style is so cozy and cute; I could read Nora and Charlie Banter all day long.

Thank you to Netgalley for providing an ARC of this book.
My first Emily Henry book was “Beach Read”- which I absolutely loved, so I thought “Book Lovers” would be more of the same, but it was more in a different way then I had expected.
While this book does have a taste of enemies to lovers in the book publishing world, this is also a book about family.
The Love between the heroine, Nora, and her sister Libby are at the heart of the story just as much as Nora and Charlie. Henry does an excellent job of weaving together these different types of love to tell a beautiful and well crafted story.
There are lots of things to love about this book:
-Emily Henry is a fantastic story teller. She really is good at her craft.
- Her metaphors and similes get me every time. How is it possible that she’s able to describe things that I’ve felt but never been able to put into words?
-The witty banter between Nora and Charlie is entertaining, smart, and funny.
-loved, loved, LOVED all the book references and metaphors.
-one of my favorite things is how I felt like I was going to be bamboozled at first. I questioned if this was going to be a romance story at all. For the first time I really felt like giving up on a “happy ending” because sometimes real life isn’t like a story. Nora was so relatable on this front. She thought about life like stories, but realized she had to think about reality. I was going to be mad because the book was running out of pages and it was too much like real life. And then, well it was wasn’t what I thought, and it was everything. Absolutely everything.
If you have enjoyed Henry’s other books I’m sure you will enjoy this one!

Book Lovers was a breath of fresh air and everything a "book lover" could have asked for in a romance.

The words wouldn't be able to justify and elaborate the amount of love I not only have for Nora and Charlie but also for the secondary characters, this book and Ms. Henry. I just loved it!!

Emily Henry does it again! Another charming, witty contemporary romance with just the right mix of humor and heart from an author who is rapidly becoming an all time favorite. Nora and Charlie are a delightful pair of main characters, and I loved seeing them continue to meet each other at the most inopportune of times before eventually falling in love. Both leads and their respective struggles were well illustrated throughout the story, and they were accompanied by a winsome supporting cast, most of whom were also well developed. I laughed out loud at several points throughout the novel (particularly during the community theater scene), and was on the verge of tears at others. As cheesy as it sounds, it's rare to find a writer who can so fully convey what it means to be a human being, both in and out of love. Another home run for Emily Henry!

Nora’s life is work, when her pregnant sister Libby wants to get away for a few weeks they pick a small town that was the center of one of Nora’s book clients latest book. While there Nora runs into Charlie who’s is a book editor, and is quite short with Nora and happens to be from this small town. As they continue to run into each other they find their first meeting along with other runs were probably not on the best of terms.
*I am disappointed with one part of this book. There’s a line in which pregnant Libby had a couple of sips of wine. I truly hope that is taken out of the final books alcohol, no matter what stage of pregnancy is dangerous for the baby. Fetal alcohol syndrome is a life long problem and they do not grow out of it.*

This book. This book is perfect through and through. Emily Henry made me so happy when she returned to the enemies to lovers trope and dare I say it, Book Lovers is even better than Beach Read! The drama, the editor vs agent, the small town checklist, and my god the steamy steamy scenes. Read this book! You won’t regret it!
