I really adored this. The characters were so well drawn and I was deeply invested in everything happening. I loved subverting the romance trope of abandoning the city for love in the country and their shared love of New York City really helped sell them as a couple. Emily Henry does an amazing job of selling relationships and actions of the main characters that aren't necessarily related to the romance. Nora grew and developed and that was just as important to me as her wonderful romance was Charlie.
Emily Henry can do no wrong at this point. I adored People We Meet On Vacation so much and had all the wildest hopes and dreams for Book Lovers. Wow, was this even better than I imagined. I ADORED Charlie so much and I really felt all of Nora's emotions and why she was the way she was.
I was a little skeptical with how fast the romance happened, but Henry knows how to write AMAZING romance. It didn't feel rushed and the chemistry between the two characters was full of spice and not so everything nice. 🔥🔥
I loved the setting of this book and loved the heartfelt genuine sisterhood we get with Nora and her sister. It was by far one of the best romances I've read, full of laugh out loud moments and very sincere emotional ones as well.
I can't wait to read anything and everything Henry writes in the future.
Book Lovers is my favourite book by the amazing Emily Henry. I adore the main characters and the quirky setting. I just think that everything about this book is perfect. I really enjoy the ending and how our main character sticks to her convictions and desires.
I don't think it's possible for me to give Emily Henry anything less than 4 stars and Book Lovers is the latest proof of that. This is for the eldest daughters. The small town romance lovers. The Emily Henry girls.
This was my favorite of Emily's books! Fun way to play with tropes but also a great love story. Great beach book that I will recommend to all my friends.

Nora Stephens is a cutthroat literary agent who reluctantly agrees to spend the summer in Sunshine Falls, North Carolina at the request of her adored little sister, Libby. Libby has this dream that Nora will have some sort of rom-com small town transformation in Sunshine Falls, but the main male Nora keeps running into is Charlie Lastra. Unfortunately she already knows Charlie from New York and they've met, repeatedly. None of those meetings have been cute or romantic. But as the two keep running into each other over and over, they start wondering if maybe they don't hate each other after all.
I needed this book after reading a few disappointing books by some favorite authors. This was just what I craved: witty banter and a romance I could believe in. A really simple way of saying it: this book is really good. It plays on writing and literary tropes so well. With both Charlie and Nora being in the publishing business, this is truly a book for book lovers. (Imagine that?) It's filled with hilarious banter that made me laugh constantly - the sexiness between Charlie and Nora is amazing.
But this is also a sweet book in a lovely small town setting. There are so many good side characters and quirky small town folks. Nora's desire to take care of her sister was almost too much for me at times (she's a grown woman!), but I understand why she was so protective of her.
Overall, this is a gorgeous, sexy, sweet romance!
I give this 4 stars, rounded up from 3.5. A literary agent from New York, Nora takes a long trip to Sunshine Falls, North Carolina with her sister, Libby. Nora thinks she has her life all figured out, but this trip shows her otherwise.
Can't go wrong with Emily.Henry titles and this is no different- a cute romance book that is an excellent summer read. Would recommend to any looking for something light and fun
My biggest issue with this book is that I simply didn't feel strongly about any of it. However, i can see my many people will love this! (grumpyxsunshine, two book lovers..) I am not the biggest romance reader and when I do read romance I want to feel the fun, lighthearted romance, or an angsty, hardhitting romance, but regardless of tone, all I want at the end of the day is to feel deeply invested in the characters' relationship. I unfortunately didn't feel it. I am still a huge fan of Emily's work, but this one fell a little flat.
I have been loving Emily Henry recently, and as much as I wanted to love this book, it was not my favorite of her works. I love all things book related, as I am a librarian, but this one felt too predictable and had a slower-burn romance feel than Henry's other books. I loved the characters and the view into the publishing world. Nora is very relatable and Charlie is a formidable enemy. The audiobook was done well, just like Henry's other books, and I enjoyed this story overall.
This review will place me in the bottom of most readers minds, but this book just didn't wow me. None of the books by this author have. It something about the covers making me think there will be something different inside. This cover would have been better on People We Meet On Vacation. While this one did rise to the best of her current three releases, it was her third strike for me. With the time I have left to read I'll be picking other authors.
I personally love a good book about people who love books, and this story delivered all that a good read should. Emily Henry created absolute magic here. She seems to be getting better and better with each new release and this one more or less owns me.
Book Lovers was so heartfelt and vulnerable. She crafts and cracks these characters wide open and she brings forth all of their insecurities, their quirks, their flaws and shows you who they are. You can't help but fall for Nora and Charlie, you can't help but root for them. I honestly could not put this book down! It was all so beautifully done and I was truly sad when the story came to an end.
Favorite Emily Henry novel so far, hands down. I didn't think it would be possible after loving Beach Read so much, but Book Lovers added in a laugh out loud quality that Beach Read didn't have. I cackled throughout this book at the banter between Nora and Charlie in this dislike to love romance. This book doesn't follow the stereotypical format of a true romance (even though there is a HEA) so I'm more inclined to call it women's lit/women's fiction with a romance element to it than pure romance - but don't let that deter you.
Book Lovers also brings in romance in the context of the publishing world, Nora is a literary agent and Charlie is an editor so they are thrown together to work on a big project for a huge author in the company. I love reading books about books, it's so very meta and the publishing world is a dream of mine to be in.
I didn't personally love the aspect of Libby, Nora's sister, and her plot line. I won't say much because it would be spoiler-y but there is a decent amount of manipulation involved and I'm never a fan of those plot lines, no matter how well intentioned. Still, I give this 5 stars due to the grumpy/grumpy love story with a healthy helping of real life getting in the way.

GAHH!!!!! I loved this book so much! Honestly, I had my doubts at first after People We Meet on Vacation, but that was quickly dissipated when I could relate so much to the older sibling syndrome and putting your own needs before your siblings. I loved the BANTER. THE WIT!! I'm a sucker for that. *chef's kiss*
Oh I just adored this book tremendously! I loved the bookish vibes, the banter, the fact that the leads were not hiding things from each other--in fact they made a point to be open with each other and I really appreciated it.
Book Lovers is an enjoyable romance that tests the boundaries of family. Nora is a driven shark who always gets what she wants and fights to make sure her family is taken care of, but at what cost? A vacation with her sister to a small town forces her to look at the life she's living and ask whether or not she's really living the life she wants. There's great banter in the novel and amazing chemistry with a man she thought she disliked and the perfect amount of heat. While this novel tries to poke fun at small town romance novel clichés, it's a delightful ride to see Nora become the woman she's meant to be.
BRILLIANT!!!!
I haven’t read a book in a while that had kept my attention and made me ache to continue reading every spare moment I had.
Top Book of all time of witty banter, it was perfectly adorable and organized ;)
Easily earned a spot in my top 5 best of all time books. LOVED IT!
thank you Berkeley Romance for access to an early ebook copy
