Bad Moon Rising was a great new start to a brand new world in The Crown's Wolves series. Bad Moon Rising doesn’t just concentrate on one paranormal creature as lots of other paranormal books tend to do. No Bad Moon Rising has many different species of paranormal creatures. Making it all the more exciting. Bad Moon Rising having more than one paranormal creature is one of the things that kept me hooked.
I loved the new take on Lycans that Bad Moon Rising portrayed not to mention their magical abilities. The characters are all very unique each in their own way. Each character made Bad Moon Rising come to life with their own magical personalities giving you the feeling that you’ve known them all your life.
One of the main characters, Nova wakes up with no memory of who she is or even what she is. She awakens with a name on her mind, Roman. She only knows one thing, she has to find this person. Nova has no idea who this Roman person is but she has this feeling that she must find him if she ever wants to recover her memories. She feels as if this Roman dude holds the key to her lost memories.
Roman is a Lycan who lives to serve the Crown of England. Roman and his brothers are under a curse subjecting them to serve the Crown of England or surfer the consequences. Roman has been given the task of taking care of Nova so to speak. The Crown is afraid of how powerful Nova is and what she can do. They want Roman to get rid of her.
Nova is a very powerful person with strong magic that she doesn’t even know she has. But when Roman meets Nova everything in him fights against destroying her. Roman wants nothing more than to protect Nova and keep her safe from all harm no matter what it may cost him.
Bad Moon Rising is a magically engaging story that will pull you in from the first word and have you racing to the end to see how it all comes together with all its twists and turns in between. It had quite a few big twists that I didn’t see coming. I can’t wait to read more in this magical universe of The Crown's Wolves!
I would recommend Bad Moon Rising to all fans of paranormal romance with different paranormal creatures of all species. One-click your copy of Bad Moon Rising today for an epic adventure into a new paranormal universe!
Nova wakes up with no knowledge of who she is or where she is from, other than a cell phone text message and a tattoo of ROMAN on her wrist. Roman is one of the Crown Wolves, cursed to protect and serve the Crown and humans against all things unhuman. Roman has never thought beyond his next job, because he never imagined it possible with his curse. Meeting Nova changes his desires and he will stop at nothing to keep her alive when his next job is to eliminate her.
Bad Moon Rising is not your standard werewolf paranormal romance. More creative and realistic than most fantasies, I was drawn into Roman and Nova’s story immediately. It helps that their chemistry is extremely intense, but both characters are deep and intriguing and the storyline is full of action packed adventure. As this is the first in a series, I’m excited to see where the story goes in the next installment.
This little gem picked my interest in more ways than one. Roman will find his blood stirred by Nora whom has not a clue about much. She will be on a learning curve. She does know Roman is important. Trouble is the ones he serves wants her gone. Turn the pages to see if they get what they want.

Bad Moon Rising is the first book in the new Crown's Wolves series by Zoe Forward and I could not put it down! I absolutely loved this fast paced romance! The character development was great, the storyline was incredible, and the romance was steamy and wonderful!
I highly recommend reading this book and cannot wait for the next book to be released!!!
I'm so grateful to Zoe Forward, Entangled Publishing, LLC, and NetGalley for providing me with a free copy of this ARC ebook in exchange for my honest review.
Nova and Roman are adorable and I love an angsty male who is bound by some bargain, deal, curse, whatever. That he is fighting constantly with because it goes against his morals. Plus you get an Assassin that doesn't know she is an assassin and it just great. It was probably a 2-3 on the steamy level, I do hope that it gets steamy as the series goes along! But Overall I loved this book and I really wish I could just binge the whole series now!
I am now a new fan of Zoe Forward. Her characters are complex and her world-building is intricate and captivating. For example, in the first scene, there is nothing more mesmerizing than a woman with amnesia blackmailed into convincing an alpha male to exit a building on her terms. Add in the fact that said male is a lycanthrope. Game on!
Roman is a noble warrior and Lycan who, along with his brothers, eliminate evil non-humans for the British monarchy. Sounds straightforward, right? Wrong. The brothers were cursed for eternity by a witch to do the Crown’s bidding or they would be killed. Enter a gorgeous woman with no memory who turns out to be a rare female Lycan with serious killer instincts and skills and wait for it….his name is tattooed on her wrist.
This story is a headrush and a great start to an intriguing series. There is a lot happening as the story builds, the many characters are introduced, and the secrets are slowly revealed. Roman and Nova work well together as they try to find out who she is and why she was sent to Roman. Nova believes she was injected with a Blackout drug to erase her memory. She slowly uncovers things about herself as her intuition compulsions take over. She has skills that no female Lycan is supposed to have. She doesn’t know how or why she found Roman, but someone is out to get her and it appears Roman’s protective instincts are the only thing keeping her alive. But another plot twist, folks. Roman is ordered to kill her or be killed. Their attraction is intense as the full moon madness takes over, but only one of them can live.
This book is a real trip with a plethora of strange, funny, and engaging characters. Roman’s family is endearing as they rall2y around each other and Nova to find her identity.
I highly recommend this energetic paranormal romance that captures you from the very beginning. I can’t wait to read book 2 in the series.
Thank you to Ms. Forward for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.
This book left me with some conflicting emotions. Now, I'm not saying this was a bad book because it wasn't. I actually liked it a lot and look forward to reading more of this series. At the beginning, this book read very hard and just felt weighted to me. That could have been simply because this was a new to me author or from the fact that you kind of get dropped in the deep end right from the word go or even a mix of the two; either way the first few chapters were a struggle for me. This did get better and I'm very glad that I powered through. There is an excellent cast of characters here that are likable and I definitely want to read more about them in future books. There is an overarching storyline that I think will continue throughout the series and it is a complex and exceedingly intriguing one. Nova and Roman were interesting main characters and I liked that they each were a bit different. As a couple, they were just OK and that I sadly think was a result of the romance portion of this book taking a back seat to the much bigger aforementioned overarching story being told. I know this was only the first book of this series and a whole lot of groundwork had to be laid, introductions made and things set in motion, so I really hope this will change in the next book because I want my romance front and center. After all it is what I read for. All thoughts and opinions in this review are my own and freely posted.
What an interesting start to this new series. This first book lays the groundwork for the overall arc that will connect the books. Finding their missing brother and putting an and to the sure that binds them to the crown.
Roman and his brothers are bound to serve the Crown but without their permission the oath spell became a curse, binding them to the point that if they refuse orders there will be dire consequences.
Nova woke up not remembering who she is and with instructions to get a man named Roman out of the club or she'd never regain her memory. She manages to fulfill her task but they both want to understand why she needed to find him. Why is his name tattooed on her body?
Roman finds Nova intriguing. She's the first woman to catch his attention in some time but he's sure it's just moon madness.
When the crown orders him to kill Nova, he tries resisting the order. But how long will he be able to resist?
Can't wait for the next book in the series!
Such a fantastic book. I will admit that the moment I finished this one I was left for words. The premise was entertaining and the characters were so different.
This is one that I loved reading and there were other characters that I met that i hope one day will have their own books in the future.
This story is the first in a new paranormal romance series by Zoe Forward, and I am so hooked and ready to find out more that happens in this world. This story wad addicting and thrilling. This paranormal romance intertwines elements that work so well together for this story.
The Crown’s wolves serve the crown of England- bound by magic- and are the ultimate secret and ultimate weapon.
All Roman Lanzo and his brothers know is honor, violence, blood, magic, and death. When a rare female Lycan, gorgeous, fierce, powerful, and with no memory of who or what she is comes into his life something awakens within him. Everything in Roman’s blood wants to help her, protect her, and want her.
The only thing Nova knew when she woke up was to find Roman. Nothing else was present or conjured. She knows nothing of who she is or why Roman's name is tattooed on her skin. But just because she doesn't know who she is doesn't mean the Crown doesn't know. A female lycan can become extremely dangerous and they want her eradicated before problems arise
This paranormal romance was amazing. I love the story and journey between Roman and Nova that blooms and grows throughout the book. There are intense moments and down right romantic ones that had me right in my feels. I am so excited to see what else will come to happen in this series for them and other characters.
Thank you NetGalley for an ARC of this novel.
I have read so many werewolf romances that I feel I have seen just about everything...but a werewolf romance where no one actually shifts into a wolf? That one was new for me. Zoe Forward did a great job with world building though, making it very clear (several times) how the Crown's Wolves came to be, how they were superhuman rather than human-to-animal shifters, and why there bound to serve against their will. It was fascinating to read about, and I felt myself easily drawn into the drama that filled their lives. I have read several books recently that center around female being rare in a particular species, whether that be a shifter romance, monster/alien romance, etc., and I wonder if this is something we'll see more often in romance going forward. I love the idea that females are considered of high value and yet they fight for autonomy and the ability to decide their own fate. It feels very empowering, showing that we are worth more than our wombs.
Nova only knows three things shortly after waking up - her name, that the tight post-apocalyptic getup she's dressed in is really uncomfortable, and the key to her identity lies with the man she's sent to retrieve from the club across the street. She has no idea why he needs to leave the basement of that club, but if that's what she needs to do to get her memories back, she will do whatever it takes to get him out. Thankfully, she can apparently speak German, which makes it easy to get inside, and there she meets her target - Roman. He was there on a mission, with no expectation of a rare female lycanthrope walking in and ruining all his plans. They leave the club with a bang - literally - and with her memories still gone, they find themselves stuck together until they can determine who she is. But with this dilemma comes another problem. Roman is being called to serve the Crown, which he is bound to obey, and his duty puts Nova in even more danger. As they race against time to get her to safety, Roman must fight against his curse, get Nova to safety, and resist the temptation to keep her for himself.
This was a complex yet really entertaining read! So much information packed into one novel, but it wasn't so overwhelming that I couldn't still appreciate all the nuances involved. Nova was a formidable woman, even with her memory loss, and she refused to accept that she would just be forever without her memories. Her interactions with Roman were so genuine and real, and while she recognized she needed him, she also saw that he may need her just as much. As a female lycanthrope, she is rare among their kind, and she must be protected at all costs. But when that protection comes at a terrible price for her man, she knows that she will do anything to make sure he is safe too. Their chemistry was off the charts, their attraction felt real and natural, and although there was certainly some insta-lust, it was a slower burn romance that left me on the edge of my seat waiting for them to finally give in to their desires. She tested his resolve, he tested her patience, and the entire time I was reading faster in eager anticipation of when they would inevitably light their passion on fire. So romantic, so heartbreaking, and absolutely worth the read.
With three brothers, this series definitely has a lot more drama and romance to bring to readers! I can't wait to read the next installment.
Bad Moon Rising is the first book in the Crown's Wolves series by Zoe Forward. A paranormal fantasy that is sure to take your breath away. This fierce, intense-filled story will keep you on the edge of your seat. Bad Moon Rising is a wonderful story that I simply loved, and I couldn't put it down; I didn't know what to expect from this book, and I didn't even look at the blurb for this one.
The Crowns Wolves
Release Date 8th November 2021
I think this is a really promising start to a new series.
A cross between Supernatural and Vampire Diaries, the adult version.
The Crowns Wolves follows a family of Lycanthrope's that have been cursed into servitude for the reigning monarch of England, by a witch. The series has a whole host of supernatural characters, Lycan's (not werewolves - Think Scott Speedman in Underworld, they never turn into wolves just get superhuman strength and fangs etc), Vampires, Ghosts, Angels, Witches, Warlocks, Demons and Mages etc.
The story follows Roman, who heads up the unit tasked by the monarch of protecting Humans from Supernatural Bad Guys. During the course of his work he encounters a lone lycan female (which is unheard of, as they are protected at all costs) with amnesia. How did she get amnesia, who is she? At the same time his brother has gone missing.
There is some real premise for a good series here and I look forward to seeing what Zoe does with it, the ending was brilliant.
Thank you to @NetGalley and @entangled_publishing for the ARC, and obviously @zoeforward too, as always, these views and opinions are my own.
This was a really fun, sexy, and intriguing read. It did a great job of setting up the series and left me wanting more. I don't always like insta-attraction, but it really worked in this book. Nova and Roman have a great dynamic and their chemistry is great. The plot was more complicated than I expected and I loved that (which is also why I need the next book, now).
An exciting and intriguing new PNR series.
Oh I liked this one, the start was intriguing, I then took to the characters and was hooked.
We have a woman called Nova who has a mission to do, but no memory of why. Then there's Roman a Lycanthrope who is cursed to serve the crown or suffer. These two collide at the start of the story.
This is book 1 in a series, there's enough back story so you have an understanding of their world, the author fits worldbuilding in along the storyline so it doesn't feel like an information overload.
I really liked the storyline, there's a mystery, action, preternatural creatures, and romance. I liked how they are lycans are, not werewolves. The story gets very hectic near the end, but I kept up and enjoyed it.
The pull between Roman and Nova was there along with emotion, I even teared up a little!
Flynn, Evie, Dom, and Antonia are some of the other characters and I liked them all, the author makes you want to know more about them.
Looking forward to the next book, will it be Flynn's story or just a continuous story. I'm hoping for Flynn's story!
4.5 stars
This book is excellent. Nova is quite a puzzle. Connecting with Roman sets them both on a convoluted path. A curse, amnesia, archangel, witch's and so much more in this story. The ending was intriguing. I received an advanced copy of this book from NetGalley and freely leave this honest review.
I have no doubt that The Crown’s Wolves is going to be a series that I will enjoy and I really thought that Bad Moon Rising was a good start, until… *sigh*
I haven’t read any of the other reviews, so I don’t know if my opinion is even close to anyone else’s, but I felt like there was something missing. The bad part is and the part that I’m going to have to apologize for in advance is that I can’t really talk about what threw me off near the end of Bad Moon Rising. It’s a huge twist in the story and I don’t want to spoil it for future readers. What I can say is that nothing is quite what it seems and even though things aren’t perfect, they do get better.
Other than the craziness that comes near the end of the story, I really liked the different take on Lycans that Zoe Forward created. I also liked the premise and the mystery behind who Nova was and how she fit into Roman’s life. I also liked the supporting characters and the insane twist at the very end. (There was more than one…) I’m looking forward to continuing the series and can’t wait to get to know the rest of The Crown’s Wolves even better.
THIS REVIEW MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS, SO FAIR WARNING, UPON READING THE REVIEW.
Bad Moon Rising is the first book in the latest series by Zoe Forward, I will be honest, I had never heard of this author until I saw this book on Netgalley offered and I was like ….YES because I just love trying new authors especially in the paranormal genre (since I kinda feel its a dying genre and these authors need all of our support) but this cover, I really love how Entangled put it all together especially with all the “Halloween” like vibes for it. I wanted to read it this week and it seemed to be just perfect but NOW you know what I need all the other books in the series because I was blown away by this book, it was so different than I was expecting and it just tore my heart out, but yet gave me everything I didn’t know that I was looking for.
BAD MOON RISING IS A FIERCE, INTENSE FILLED STORY THAT WILL KEEP YOU ON THE EDGE OF YOUR SEAT THAT FEATURES:
Roman Lanzo– A Lycan, a soldier for the Queen of England, loyal to his family and a survivor
Nova-Kick ass heroine, has no memory of who she is but can fight and has psychic abilities and feels connected to Roman.
Bad Moon Rising is a story that sets off with our heroine, who wakes up with no memory of who she is, but she knows she must reach a man named “Roman” and to save him from a threat she is not sure of but she knows she is capable of fighting and protecting him if necessary. When she arrives, she knows the man that she is looking for and he is a man that she feels a strong attraction to and she knows he is “danger” personified and not one she should ever mess with. But the trick now is to get him to trust her and how to get him to leave the danger that is ahead of them. But when it is proven that she can take care of herself and is a woman to trust, Roman knows that there is something more to Nova and that she is a woman that he is captivated by. But there are secrets and when he is brought in to the new King and his boss now and orders him to kill Nova, he is torn in two. Roman and his brothers were cursed years ago that they had to obey all orders by the leader of England, or he could die. And now he must make a difficult choice, but there is more going on here than meets the eye. Nova and Roman are determined to find out the truth before one of them dies, but their story won’t be what is expected, and it may come at the ultimate cost….
Bad Moon Rising is a wonderful story that I simply loved and I couldn’t put it down, I didn’t know what to expect from this book and I didn’t even look at the blurb for this one. I’m not sure why I didn’t since I always do, but I just wanted to immerse myself into a paranormal. I quickly found myself drawn into this heartbreaking paranormal romance that gave me everything I needed and more. Both of these characters were simply amazing and captures the heart in the small moments. You will find that Nova and Roman to be a perfect team. I don’t always vibe with kick-ass heroines, but I absolutely devoured Nova’s character. She was tough, could fight (in the way you would expect of James Bond), but she has such a good heart and I truly related with her so much. And seeing her devotion to Roman was epically beautiful in every way. Roman is such a unique hero, and my heart just broke for him. He is such a tough alpha male, he is the oldest of his brothers and highly protective of them, and sacrifices so much for them. And seeing his love for Nola will just pierce the deepest parts of you. I will be honest that there will be parts of this book that will tear you apart. Their story while they get a HEA, it’s a tough journey in getting there.
I was really surprised in how much I enjoyed this author’s writing and definitely wanted more and more of it. I can’t wait to start delving into some of her other works and see how I like them. The premise of this series is fascinating and I can’t wait to see what happens with the other brothers, find out about this secret organization working against their people, and see them all find their mates.
Overall I found Bad Moon Rising to be a thrilling, edge-on-the-seat adventure that will work through your emotions, stun you in the action-packed moments, and deliver a deeply satisfying conclusion.
Roman is a lycan and is cursed to do what the ruling king or queen wants. He and his brothers have been doing this for years. One brother was killed and another is missing so two are trying to keep the humans safe. Nova, also a lycan, woke up in a car with no memory and messages telling her who she needs to find. Roman. What they don’t know yet is… she is about to be on the list for Roman to kill. The King wants her eliminated because she’s an assassin. They travel to different places to figure out why someone erased her memories. Whenever Roman tries to go against the curse and he goes through horrible pain. One might have to die to beat the curse.
I was hooked from the beginning but some parts were rushed or I really don’t know how to describe it, they made no sense to me. There is a cliffhanger. Sex. Action. And paranormal characters.
* Voluntarily read and reviewed this for NetGalley *
Bad Moon Rising by Zoe Forward is the 1st book in her new Crown’s Wolves series. We meet our heroine, Nova, at the start, as she wakes up in a car, with no memory of why she is there, nor who she is; her phone has a message, get the man named Roman out of the club he is in.
Roman Lanzo, our hero, is a Lycan, and with his brothers, they are bound by a curse to serve the Crown of England. They are very powerful, known as the Crown’s Wolves, and considered the ultimate weapon for the Crown. Roman is approached by a beautiful lady, who insists he leave with her, and when all hell breaks out, he does get out and Nova is with him.
Roman isn’t sure if he can trust Nova, especially since she claims amnesia, with no knowledge of who she is. In a short time, he recognizes her to also be a rare female Lycan, with powerful skills and even magic. They both find themselves attracted to each other, though Roman feels it isn’t safe for him to become involved, but in no time, he becomes totally obsessed with her; and together they will embark on a journey to discover the truth about Nova, and why was she sent to him. When the Crown leader gives him a mandatory assignment to kill her, Roman, his brother, mother and others must find a way to keep her alive, especially if she may know something about their missing brother.
What follows is an exciting, action-packed adventure that kept me unable to put the book down. I loved the chemistry between Roman and Nova, and prayed they would find a way to be together. I also like some the secondary characters, Finn, their mother, the angel, and even the vampire. I do not want to say too much more, because you need to read this book, especially with more fun to come in future books.
Bad Moon Rising was a great start to this new series, and very well written by Zoe Forward. I wholly suggest you read Bad Moon Rising, as I thoroughly enjoyed it.
