Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for my digital copy in exchange for an honest opinion. I'm not gonna lie, this was another one I chose just because I liked the cover...and the name. That sounded pretty cool to me...and again, I liked it just as much as I thought I was going to. It was a little cliche but it was such a feel good story and I really liked the characters and the location so I was sold. Who doesn't need a book every now and then where you don't have to try and keep up or force your way through it? I would recommend this to anyone that liked contemporary love stories with a little bit of family drama thrown in.
Well, that was an underwhelming ride. Yes, I got this book more than a year ago, but the expectations were the same as they were now. As I saw a Christmas romance novel on display, I knew I had to get it. You see, I'm a huge romance fan, and Christmastime stories are just the best. But this one was unfortunately disappointing.
To start, I feel like the author spent way too much time on descriptions. Of daily actions, of the town, the landscapes. And this wouldn't be a problem if it was well balanced with character development, for example. But I felt like I was reading 80% about the scenery and 20% about the characters and their relationships. It seemed as though there would be a big change in the story but it never came, the characters fell in love because they had to, but I could never see a reason for it other than "it's a romance, so it must be like this".
Anyways, it seemed to be a nice cozy romance, but it promised too much and delivered too little.
Laurel Hanover recently received a concerning from her father in her hometown. He asked her to come home and run the family business, the Cranberry Inn. She’s excited to take her young son out of the city and experience a hometown Christmas with him. When they arrive she’s shocked to find the place in disrepair and her father left a note saying he will be gone until Christmas Eve. She’s concerned but needs to find a way to help bring the place back to life and help her dad. Local carpenter and childhood friend of Laurels, Joel Hutcherson, offers to step in and help with the repairs. As they work together they rekindle their old feelings for each other. However, Laurel begins to unravel the mystery of why her father left town and she thinks Joel knows more than he’s letting on.
A cozy, beautiful book for a cold winter day. I loved the descriptions of the Cranberry Inn in its glory days. Laurel and Joel’s story was sweet and fun to read. I loved the townsfolk and small town feel of the book.
Book wasn't meant for me. Hopefully someone will enjoy it more. I will look into renting it in the future
This book didn't work for me. There was nothing exciting in it. It was just pretty blah. I was hoping that the story would pick up steam but it never does.
The story was good but I didn't like how it skipped over time too far. For example the very small time spent prior to Doug's wedding. Or discussion about his health scare. Its kind of hard to believe a wedding would be planned without someone leaking it. Then there was so much time spent on details that were brought back up time and again through the story. I found myself skipping many paragraphs to get to new information.
Thanks for the chance to read the story.
Laurel goes back to her family home, Cranberry Inn but discovers her dad is going to be away until Christmas Eve. This leaves her in charge of a neglected business and she has to work hard to return it to it’s former glory. You can see the potential of the building and feel the need to restore it. She meets up with an old school friend and he is keen to help out.
The Inn makes you feel warm and cosy, in it’s snowy setting . We deal with family dynamics, friendships and romance all mixed in with a lovely warm Christmassy feel.
This is a good Christmas story of a family Inn and coming home. This is book 4 in the Lake Summer's series. Laurel and her young son are returning to the Adirondack Mountains to help her father fun the family's inn. When she arrives her dad is missing and the Inn is in disrepair. She enlists the help of local carpenter, Joel to start the repairs while she starts looking for her dad. A letter reveals where he's at and she is soon involved in the repairs and planning for the inn's future. a nice romance that has you smiling. It can be read as a stand alone, I have not read the previous books. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.
Described as a feel good Christmas book, it really is.
The cozy, comforting descriptions of the inn with it's beautiful decorations and plenty of snow in a quaint village setting will draw you right in.
Add in the mystery of Laurel's father's mysterious trip right before Christmas when he should be at the inn preparing for an unexpected guest.
Reminiscent of great holiday times with all the special memories and making fresh new starts .
I have enjoyed this and other books by this author.

Fall in love with Christmas all over again at The Cranberry Inn.
Laurel is a single working mother in for an unexpected Christmas this year.
After experiencing unexpected disappointment at work, she then receives an unexpected (and cryptic) message from her father.
This leads to an unexpected trip for her and her son back home to Lake Summers to run the Cranberry Inn for the Christmas Season.
Here, she unexpectedly finds there are no guests booked for Christmas and the place isn't quite how she remembered it. Taking everything in her stride, she decides to use the time to bring the Inn back up to scratch before yet another unexpected turn of events lands her with a mysterious guest at the Inn.
But, that's not all - the list of the unexpected continues:
* her old flame from high school is also in town for Christmas
* the mystery guest is showing interest in her (romantically speaking, of course)
This was a lovely Christmas read and I enjoyed it wholeheartedly.

Am I glad I read it - yes
Was it a waste of my time - absolutely not
Would I sit down and read it all over again - yes, I would
Would I read more by this author based on this book - I didn't realise that this was Book 4 in the Lake Summer series and will definitely now be seeking out the earlier books in the series.
A perfect Christmas cosy read by the fire with a hot chocolate.
This is perfect for Hallmark channel fans.
The big American Inn that is filled with family secrets and a good romance with some snow.
Laurel and Joel have such a budding relationship it makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside.
I tried several times to read The Cranberry Inn but I could not get into the story. I felt the storyline was buried in minutiae. I felt scenes and actions were described in too much detail and I got lost in the details. Because of this, I couldn't start enjoying the characters or figure out what was going on in the story. The author shows promise and the book blurb was engaging, but I just couldn't gain traction with the story.
This sweet wintery romance made me want to pack up and move to a small town, and run an in an Inn. Which incidentally, has actually always been a dream of mine. This had all of the cozy, wintery feels that you get from a hallmark-esq book.
A lovely festive read to get you in the Christmas spirit. Laurel and Joel are both back in their hometown of Lake Summers to help with their parents' businesses. In Joel's case, it's to wrap up his mother's gift store business, and in Laurel's case, it's in response to a mysterious phone call from her father to come and look after Cranberry Inn while he is gone for a few weeks. Although this is the fourth entry in the Lake Summers series, this certainly works as a stand-alone book.
The Cranberry Inn will tuck you in like a cozy holiday movie. Laurel receives a mysterious call from her dad to help take over the Inn during December. Busy as an interior designer's assistant, Laurel generally has December to work from home so, without reaching her father again, she packs her young son Simon up for the Adirondacks at Christmas. Coming home in December, Laurel hasn't spent Christmas at the Inn in years. After their mother died, she and her sisters started celebrating on their own as it wasn't the same. Laurel finds the Inn in need of some repairs but that changes were also made. When she discovers no one in town knows where her father is she's more concerned but he promised to be home on Christmas Eve with a surprise. After running into her high school crush Joel, he begins to help repairs on the Inn and his own heart. Filled with lots of festive fun, holiday spirit and some twists The Cranberry Inn is a delightful seasonal read.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest feedback.
This a cute Christmas story about Lauren who come back to her dads hotel called cranberry inn. She’s unsure we’re dads gone but he’s told her he back Christmas Eve. Lauren and her son Simon run it over Christmas. Lauren goes over her life as a child and than they have unexpected guest they have to cater for. Then Joel comes back to due to a death and he runs into Lauren and they both look back at there memories at school. This was easy story to read and the characters where easy to connect with.
Thank you NetGalley for letting me read this book.
Laurel is called back to manage her family business, The Cranberry Inn, in the run up to Christmas. It gives her a chance to reconnect with old friends, and an old love, Joel and to reassess her future.
This was a nice Christmassy read with a lovely sense of place and an easy read with nice characters that you care about. It felt a little rushed to me and I would have enjoyed the story to unfold at a slower pace but still an enjoyable festive read.

As twinkling lights go up and snowflakes begin to fall, Laurel Hanover and her eight-year-old son are going home to the Cranberry Inn in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains. Laurel can’t wait to leave New York behind to help her father run the family business, and make snow angels with her son, even if it’s just for Christmas. But when she walks through the door, she’s shocked to find the inn in disrepair, and a letter saying her father will be gone until Christmas Eve…
This is a sweet Christmas story about family and second chances. I enjoyed the setting and characters - this was my first visit to Lake Summers. If you want a quick but cute book to read this festive season then you should give this book a try.
Rating: 4/5
A quick, easy read, it's described as a feel good Christmas romance and it sure is. I loved the setting and the characters, there's something about villages during Christmas that makes me want to cozy up with a cup of hot chocolate while reading, so if that's what you're looking for, then definitely give this book a try.

I loved this book. It was the perfect book to read leading up to our holiday week, a nice easy read to escape to. The story takes place in a small town family inn, with childhood friends who returned home for different reasons. Both are in need of a fresh start whether they know it or not.
I can imagine the Cranberry Inn and wish (and wonder) it was a real place.
Thank you to Netgalley for and advanced copy of The Cranberry Inn for review.
