KL Slater is a fan favorite for the unseen twists that take the story from great to excellent! When her husband dies suddenly, his widow will go to any length to salvage his reputation while hiding her own secrets.
I was gripped from the beginning.
This is an author who has been on my TBR for ages and I am so glad I finally read one of her novels. I will be reading more!

Kate a happily married woman who feels she has the perfect life and his tux left reeling from revelations right before her husband’s death that bring forth questions about him that leave her wondering if she even knew Michael at all.
Accused of the sudden disappearance of a young sbd beautiful polish immigrant a small quite town is rocked by the horror of yet again the disappearance of another young girl. Many years before Kate’s best friends sister had disappeared without a trace from the very same town. Are the disappearances connected is Michael truly a psychopath preying on unsuspecting women? I would never have guessed how it would all play out and I loved the book. I highly recommend it!
Late to the party but what can I say about KL Slater that others haven't already?
Gripping, page turning, all the stars
"The Widow" by K.L. Slater is an outstanding psychological thriller that kept me hooked from start to finish. The author has a mastery of suspense and tension, building an atmosphere that is both gripping and haunting. The plot is filled with twists and turns that kept me guessing until the end, and the well-developed characters add depth to the story and make it even more emotionally engaging. The themes of loss, grief, and the power of motherhood are explored in a way that is both poignant and thought-provoking. I was thoroughly impressed with this book and would highly recommend it to fans of the thriller genre. Five stars.
Kate's whole world changes when her husband, Michael stepped in front of a taxi after being questioned by the police about a missing local woman. Now the trial is in the court of public opinion and Kate insists that her husband was an innocent man. She stands on her opinion that he had nothing to do with the missing woman's disappearance. But why would Michael chose to end his life. Kate has a close friend Donna to lean on but Donna is dealing with her own problems too. Twisty suspenseful read.
Such an interesting and intriguing story. The twists and turns throughout left me questioning everything. I truly did not see the end coming!
It was a bit of a slow start though, and I like something that stats off with a bang.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for approving me for this book.
I felt the writing was done well in this book but there was just something missing for me and I couldn't get into it and enjoy it as much as I hoped I would.
K L Slater is one of the great masters of the psychological thrillers and this is some of her best work. Every time you think you have a handle on what is going on there is another twist that has you doubting yourself. This is one of those books that will keep you swearing just one more chapter until you've read too far to give up now. Just try to read it when you don't have to get up for work the next day.
I found this a very easy book to read, nice short chapters & the story is intriguing. At one point I was reading & couldn’t help but exclaim out loud at a twist! The sign of a good thriller.
I’ve given 3.5* only because I found it a tiny bit predictable but it’s a solid read & id recommend it!!

Another brilliant read from the author. The plot is great and keeps you on the edge of your seat. Nice twists as always and the story moves along at a good pace. I can't wait to read more from the author.
Thank you to Netgalley, K. L. Slater, & Bookouture for my copy of this eBook for an honest review!
Now, I’ve got to admit. I have had this one since last year. ::cringes:: I know, I know. I feel like if I have discovered anything about myself recently is that I am definitely a mood reader. I had been on a romance kick and just hadn’t wanted to pick up a thriller. But once I started The Widow, I couldn’t stop! My first book by K. L. Slater…. But not my last. The Widow had me on the edge of my seat the entire time!
The Widow was a page turning story of Kate trying to solve intertwining mysteries while trying to keep her trust in her husband, Michael, who is being accused of multiple crimes. Kate and Michael had a happy, simple life in their small village with their 6 year daughter Tansy. Until one night, there new girl in town, Suzy Baros, goes missing at the villages Christmas tree lighting. That’s when Kate’s world starts to get turned upside down. As mysteries from the past and present connect and keep you guessing - betrayals are discovered and so are bodies.
It’s available on Kindle Unlimited or you can purchase it on Amazon!
QUESTION: Does anyone else ever catch themselves reading a book in a British accent when they’re American?? No?? Just me?? Lol, I thought so. Happy reading y’all!
K l Slater has done it again with this great psychological thriller. When Kate husband dies suddenly Kate must find out what secrets he was hiding. Lots of twists and turns in this story must read
for fans psychological thrillers
Kate Shaw has the perfect little family, complete with her daughter Tansy and her husband Micheal. They live in an idyllic town in England, and have the love and support of the tiny village they have lived in for most of their lives. Or so they think. Once a newcomer to town goes missing, tongues start wagging and fingers start pointing, mostly in the direction of the Shaw family. Will they band together or will they turn on each other? Will they even survive the scrutiny? And what exactly did happen to the newcomer to town?
I really enjoyed this latest offering from K.L. Slater. There were some jaw dropping moments and shocking twists and turns. I rated this book a 3.5 rounded up to 4 stars, however, because there were some parts that were just so slow, and oftentimes repetitive and boring. Another example is that one "item" was mentioned so many times that when something happened that was supposed to be a twist, just was not shocking at all. Also, sometimes the main character Kate, made the stupidest choices in the world, you don't really feel sorry for her, but maybe think she has some of this coming due to her own silly choices.
Overall, I would say this is a fairly average psychological thriller. It would be great entertainment for a plane or just a quick read. I would recommend this beach read but don't expect your socks to be knocked off.
Special thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC in exchange for an honest review of this book.
Love KL Slater never read a bad book by her, and doubt I ever will, can’t beat it….brilliant super fast paced read that will have you wondering what day of the week it is! Seriously good book…
The Widow by KL Slater
I always love a good thriller and KL Slater has most certainly provided one with The Widow.
Michael and Kate are leading a pretty normal life until SiY shows up and moves into a cottage on the estate Michael works at.
Donna, Kate’s best friend is married to Paul who has a wandering eye and has a problem keeping him self loyal to his wife.
This thriller follows the story of the five people and a few crimes that have been committed.
Slaters attention to detail is excellent. I definitely came up with ideas of who did what to who, but Slater than throws in another plot twist and defuncts them all.
Thoroughly enjoyed this one and looking forward to the next!
Brilliant book, fast-moving page-turner. Absolutely loved reading it. Definitely worth a try. It's my first read of KL Slater, I will definitely be reading more by her.
