I absolutely ADORED this book. I'm a sucker for pop culture references so this was right up my alley. A Met Gala parody event with constant name drops is my dream. And I loved every single character in this novel(except for Stew but I feel like that's a given). I love the dynamic between Juliette and Fran, as well as all the grandiose aspects of the Crystal Ball. Such a fun and swoon-worthy read.

'On a Night Like this' is a light, easy, and very funny novel. I love that Kelk writes a friendship that is just as impactful to the story as the romance, and honestly more interesting and organic, too.

Cons: The two main storylines never mesh together, so this ends up feeling like two disjointed books shoved into one. Also Fran doesn't get much character development, and what little growth she does have is early on, so you're stuck waiting around half the book for a resolution that could've happened way earlier.

What a fantastic, unique story about finding yourself - and falling in love.
On A Night Like This (release date 1/18/22) follows Francesca (Fran) in her very own Cinderella-style story. Instead of an evil stepmother and stepsisters, she’s stuck in a town with almost zero job prospects, engaged and living with a man who is trying to create her future in his image. Her one saving grace is her best friend, Jess. On a whim, she calls the agency she used to work for in London and gets sent on the job of a lifetime - personal assistant for five days to an ultra-celebrity. Then, she meets Evan at the Crystal Ball - and they have an instant connection.

I loved Fran - it is easy to relate to someone who gives so much of herself that she forgets to take care of herself. I loved that finding what she wanted out of her life and what made her happy came first! I definitely recommend this read to anyone who enjoys a modern love story that reads like a fairytale.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5 stars.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you to NetGalley and Harper 360/Harper Collins.

Such a fun read! I love a Cinderella retelling and this one hit the marks. Kelk did a great job developing the main character and making her a fun heroine.

I was beyond excited when I got a chance to read the latest book from Kelk. I went into the book expecting humor, eccentric and daft antics from the characters. Little let down as the humor took a backseat in this. Instead, I was rewarded with strong female central character Fran and equally charming and chivalrous Evan.

Loved seeing the growth in Fran as the story progressed. Stuck in a relationship rut, looking for a new job, Fran gets inspired by what her best friend Jess said, takes the adventurous job, in which she becomes a personal assistant to a finicky celebrity singer Juliette. The job comes with incredibly fussy instructions. She had to walk on eggshells, navigate tricky paths, and every step tested her abilities.

The said ‘Night’ happens around half way through the book. The book has been a little slow until this but took an exciting turn from here. Their first meeting was cute and hilarious. They went on an exciting adventure throughout the night, and one of my favorite parts was involving the tarot card reading and how it connected to their futures.

Admire Fran for her fierce protectiveness of Juliette, fought with rich old gits who shared inappropriate pictures, loyal to her mom’s words. Glad she takes her happiness, career into her hands.

Overall, it was a heartwarming and sweet read with cool main characters in gorgeous and glamorous locations.

This was such an incredibly fun retelling of Cinderella! I really loved that it wasn’t ALL about the romance, but instead explored friendship, work woes and independence. Ultimately, the happy ending is very happy, but it wasn’t what I expected from a Cinderella story in the best way. I found myself truly laughing out loud for so much of this book, and fell-in-friend with Fran. She absolutely deserved the world and I’m thrilled with how it all wrapped up. (Also, the Crystal Ball?! Yes I’d like an invite!) I only wish this book was coming out in November so everyone could enjoy this for the holiday season!

I will absolutely be mentioning this book in my October wrap up video, but until then, thanks so much to NetGalley and HarperCollins for sending me this book!

Fran is at somewhat of a career impasse and ends up taking a mysterious job on a whim. She ends up going on the adventure of a lifetime, and as you would have it, meeting a tall, dark, and handsome stranger!

The book is a fun read, but isn't as close to a retelling of the traditional Cinderella story as the description and cover suggest. It's also not the typical fast-paced romcom that I was initially expecting and, like another review also mentions, is more of a story of Fran's growth as a person and her progressively gaining courage to take her life by the reins. I struggled a bit with the pacing because there seemed to be two plotlines that could've been developed into full stories themselves -- the experiences of Fran in her insane new job, and then the later developing love story and her journey to relationally take control of her life. I wish we could've heard more of both! It also isn't until the latter half of the book that we meet the primary love interest, so heads up to those expecting nothing more than a quick meet-cute and developing couple.

The world of glamour and wealth that Lindsey creates is so intriguing and captivating. She also manages to capture "love at first sight" without it seeming unrealistic or cliche. A fun read, just needed to adjust initial expectations! Excited to read more by Lindsey.

Many thanks to Lindsey Kelk, Harper 360, and NetGalley for this ARC!

Fran Cooper is in a bit of a rut. She's currently in between jobs and things are not going well with her fiancé. As she tries to take back some control over her life, she finds herself on a yacht where she's assisting a famous singer as they travel to a charity ball for the ultra-rich. When her plans fall apart, Fran meets Evan, another attendee of the ball who ends up taking her under his wing as they spend an exciting and unforgettable night together at the ball.

I was drawn to this story because of the slight similarity to Cinderella, and while the story was not quite what I was expecting, it was still a really enjoyable read. The plot centers less around the romance and more about Fran growing as a character as she figures out what she wants. All of the characters are really well-written, and I loved that Kelk could take a character that appeared just briefly and make her one of the most fun and interesting characters in the book. I also loved that all of the glamorous settings were so well described, and I felt like I could vividly imagine the Crystal Ball as Fran experiences it.

Overall, this is a fun, satisfying read! Highly recommend it to anyone like me who wants a lighter read now and then.

Thanks to Lindsey Kelk, Harper 360, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and honestly review this book!

I am a big time Lindsey Kelk fan so I was pretty excited when I was notified that I got approved for the arc.

The story is quite rich, dreamy, and the romance, definitely has the capability to sweep anyone off of their feet.

The woman main character is so witty and heartwarming that leaves the story so interesting for me to devour in a single sitting, without it being cheesy, alike the cases with most of the romcoms (unfortunately)

I loved Fran, and her courage to stand up for herself by choosing the right path for her, she turns her world around by stepping out of her comfort zone and deciding to do what really makes her happy and henceforth is “right” for her.

I loved the Crystal Ball, and I absolutely adored Jess.

Without giving away the plot I also loved his romantic gesture, but even more so the way that has got Fran reacted to it, made me adore him more!!

So in a nutshell, this book was such a pretty blend of self love, friendship and romance, and has fairly interesting characters with relatable themes running around in the story.

I really enjoyed reading it.

P.s: Thank you so much Harper Collins for the arc, very much appreciated.
