What a delightful read. I have been in the mood for light, romance centric books and this fit the bill. Fran is a bit in a rut with her life and boyfriend, but when she takes a temp job as a temp assistant for a famous singer her life changes completely. I would have loved if she met the romantic interest sooner in the book, but this story was really about Fran coming face to face with her life, determining what she wants and going for it. Loved her independent spirit. Was it overly realistic in any way? No. But was it a fun ride? Absolutely. I could have done with less swearing, but overall enjoyed this story.
This was so delightful!
I just adored Fran! I loved getting to know her as she explored herself. She was charming and delightful and I loved how she approached challenges head on.
I would say this is not a super romance-y romance, the love interest comes in very late in the story but I would say it is a self love story. I think that could turn some off but it was just so easy and light that I was enthralled and did not want to stop reading.
So funny and sweet- I would definitely check out more Lindsey Kelk in the future.
Thank you NetGalley and Harper for the ARC.
So good!
This was such a great rom-com! I loved every second of this book! The romance was cute and fun and all-around charming. I loved Fran and getting to read along as she discovered more about what she truly wanted. Though this book was an insta love I was still fairly entertained throughout. Overall I liked this book; it gave me Cinderella vibes for sure!
This was an enjoyable read. Nothing insanely good about it but I enjoyed it and kept with it until the end.
This book was very sweet, but also very slow. I would characterize this as WOMEN'S FICTION rather than ROMANCE. The male lead doesn't even make an appearance until more than halfway through the book. So even though this was a quick read and a fun premise, it wasn't really what I was looking for and the pacing was much too slow.
Fran's fiance might be cheating on her, and she's working crap temp jobs. Her life isn't going anywhere so Fran decides to take a one week top secret job that pays a tonne of money. So, when she becomes a PA to a celebrity, she has her hands full.
Gatecrashing the most exclusive party of the year, she meets Evan. The catch? No last names, no personal info exchanged. Just enjoy the night, and speak freely, no strings attached.
This was a Cinderella story done right with plenty of laughs and some swoon worthy moments.
Thanks Netgalley for the ARC!
On a Night Like This is such a fun, light and humorous read.
I enjoyed how the book was broken up into two chunks -- one with Juliette and the other with Evan.
I thought Kelk had a phenomenal way of making Fran extremely down-to-earth and lovable.
I thought this was a great take on a cinderella story!
LOVED THIS!!! This was such an adorable upbeat romcom type of book. I just absolutely devoured every page of this book. I cannot wait for it to come out so I can purchase a physical copy for myself!! I truly thought the characters were real and I was with them. It was a phenomenal story!!
I really enjoyed this book! It was light and easy to read. I also love when pop culture references are made in books, especially romcoms. While I don't think this book will be my favorite romcom of 2022 I did really enjoy it! Would def. recommend if you are looking for something light or for a palate cleanser in between heavier reads.
I truly believe this was a beautifully written book. This was a fairy tale and felt easy to fall into this book. The romance was just like a fairy tale love story and I loved it. It was a very easy read.
Thank you NetGalley and HarperCollins for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Fran impulsively takes a job an assistant to a famous singer, and she ends crashing the biggest celebrity gala of the year - The Crystal Ball. When she (literally) bumps into Evan, Fran knows they only have one night.
This was a fun Cinderella love story. I enjoyed it for sure, but there were parts that were completely unbelievable. If you can suspend disbelief, this is quick, charming read.
Thanks to Harper360 and NetGalley for my ARC.
This book was pretty average for me. I think had I known it was a Cinderella retelling, I might not have picked it up. I just don't enjoy that trope, mainly because a chunk of the book you don't even see the hero and heroine interacting.
I do understand the need for the backstory with Fran's job, how she becomes Juliette's assistant for a short period, and all the lead up to the gala. I enjoyed seeing Fran work through all this, the job opportunity and how it's at odds with her fiancee based on their history.
I will say that I really enjoyed the interactions between Fran and Evan. I loved their banter and the chemistry that jumps off the page between these two. This was definitely my favorite parts of the book overall, I just wish there was more.
Given that Fran is engaged to someone else, I was concerned that cheating would be in this book, but I was pleasantly surprised that it's not the case.
I would say that if you love Cinderella retellings, then I would absolutely recommend this book and I think you'll really love it. It's just not a favorite trope of mine.
I received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion.
Fran Cooper is looking for a change in her life. Living with her boyfriend/fiancé, jobless, and bored, Fran needs a change when she gets the chance to assist a celebrity, on her way to the Crystal Ball, along with the world’s rich and famous. There bumps into a handsome American called Evan. The connection is instant and undeniable. While Fran lives her best life in one night, what will happen?
I loved reading this book and getting to meet Fran. Her life is so typically common at first, no job, not great boyfriend, one best friend, and stuck in a rut. Who hasn't felt like this at one point? But overnight, she changes all that but getting a job as an assistant with "the" Juliette, which leads to a Cinderella night. If you are a fan of love at first sight stories, you'll enjoy this!
Although the focus isn't internally on romance, but on Fran coming into her own, it still has that little spice of romance to keep it interesting. This is a feel good book about empowering yourself and learning to meet your needs over those around you.
I rate this book as 4 🌟!
I'd like to say a huge thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for an ARC of this novel in exchange for an honest review.

Short of losing a glass slipper as the clock strikes midnight, this was a delightful modern-day take on Cinderella. I'm just embarrassed how long it took me to figure that out. It was a frustratingly long time until we met this book's Prince Charming, but he was worth the wait. And the splash of the Before trilogy was a great bonus.
What a sweet and amazing book that red in one night. One thing to note is this is more Womens Fiction vs Romance and once you adjust those expectations this book is something amazing. Fran is such an amazing main character and I just truly want to spend more time with her. She is so fun, strong, and I loved seeing her on her journey. I cannot recommend this book enough. Its a modern take on one of my favorite stories which is Cinderella and it does it so well. I can't wait to read more from Kelk.
Thank you Netgalley for this ARC for an exchange of an honest review.
OMG So good. I really enjoyed this book.
This one was cute - I wanted a little more spark/chemistry but overall I liked the story, especially the friendship/side character elements. 3.5 rounded up to 4.
Don’t miss the unforgettable new romcom, a whirlwind Cinderella love story, available to pre-order now!
Within days of wishing she could change her life, Fran Cooper is leaving rainy England to become acting assistant to a famous singer, on a yacht in the Mediterranean. Their destination is a tiny Italian island that’s hosting the biggest celebrity gala of the season—the Crystal Ball.
And while not everything about her new role goes precisely to plan, when she— quite literally—bumps into tall, dark and handsome Evan, a man able to keep his cool in the face of chaos, the magic really begins.
Evan makes her a promise: no last names, no life stories, just one unforgettable night. Wearing a designer dress and drinking champagne, Fran is soon a million miles away from life back in the UK.
And that’s the problem: Evan belongs at the Crystal Ball and Fran is a gatecrasher. They may be soulmates, but their homes are an ocean apart, their lives a world apart. They’ll never meet again—unless, on a night like this, everything can change forever…
A fun and different read with Kelk's signature focus on a woman getting her shit together with a side plot romance. The first half took me a bit to get into but once we were at the fancy event and hijinks were ensuing, I was into it. Fran's adventure among the uber rich (who suck) and the uber famous (who also kind of suck) was fun and she was a lovely and competent character to follow into the world.
