You really can't go wrong with an Avery Flynn book. Just sayin'

Neanderthal is book 2 in the Last Man Standing series. The book is fun, flirty, and romantic. Griff is one of two cousins left in the Last Man Standing contest (out of three to begin with) and once he sets eyes on Kinsey, he doesn't care about the contest. Her being engaged puts a monkeywrench in his plans, though. He goes through the motions of six dates, hoping his attraction to her wanes.

Avery Flynn is a wonderful storyteller. Her characters are unique and she creates interesting themes, settings, and relationships. Her stories pull you in an keep you thoroughly engaged and completely entertained. I enjoyed Neanderthal and look forward to Mansplainer.

A delightful and steamy book that has me laughing out loud but also moved by the story. I enjoy a good rom com about man with feelings. It was refreshing and enjoyable.

This is my first in the Last Man Standing series, but not my first Avery Flynn book. I most recently read The Wedding Date Disaster and I enjoyed it SO much. I just adore her brand of humor, among other things.

Griff and his cousins are currently competing to win the gift their grandmother left them. The deal is that the last one to still be single at Christmas wins. Griff has every intention of winning until Kinsley walks into his gym and it's basically love at first sight.

Our leading man may be the strong silent type but there's definitely more to him than meets the eye. Thankfully this story is told from both of their points of view so you get to see inside Griff's mind even if he doesn't have a lot to say initially.

If you're in need of a hilarious, and sizzling new romance series to get you through these cold fall nights, definitely check this out!

When Grandma Betty died she left one last gift ... who will get it? Let the games begin. It's time for Griff Beckett to go on six dates and forget about writing his own dating website profile. If only Griff could form sentences that didn't include grunting or mumbling, will he survive the first date?

Kinsey Dalton never imagined she could sweep a man off his feet, especially a man like Griff. What will happen when she discovers that her new roomie is Griff's sister and he lives down the hall? If only she hadn't created a fiance to navigate through her workplace with ease.

When they discover they work for competitors will they be able to handle their out of office friendship? If Griff can admit his true feelings and Kinsey can figure out how to get rid of her fiance they might have a chance at something Grandma Betty would be proud of.

I love the little details that make this book so delicious from the tattoos to the hilarious dates they go on and hopefully conversations that don't involve mumbling ;). Another must read in a series that can be read as a standalone, but why would you want to when there are three equally fun filled books with shenanigans, scorchin chemistry and great writing.

Thank you NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for this advance reader copy for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

I knew Griff was going to be my favorite! I've always been a sucker for the strong, silent type. Then throw in the fact that he's ripped, tattooed, and a closet nerd, and I'm a total goner! Then we have Kinsey, the Elle Woods of the cosmetic industry. Cute little southern belle, with a brain the size of Texas and all of that 'bless your heart charm. This book had me laughing, swooning, and fanning myself multiple times!

This was just okay for me. I really struggled with the first book in this series, and I was hoping this would be better. I have LOVED most of this author's books that I've read in the past, but this series just isn't doing it for me. I liked Griff, but I wasn't a fan of Kinsey at all. She got annoyed because she felt she didn't get the respect she deserved because of her looks, but she came across as rude and just as bad as the people she felt disrespected her. I felt like she was constantly trying to explain to people, and it was condescending IMO. I couldn't connect to them as a couple, and as a result, didn't find myself invested in their outcome. I still love this author, and will be looking at whatever comes next after this series.

Okay look - fake relationship and best friend's sibling are two of my favorite tropes, so there was no way I wasn't going to read this. I don't LOVE instalove, but Avery Flynn finessed it so it wasn't too offputting.

I not only fell for Kinsey and Griff, I fell for the whole cast of side characters. I will DEFINITELY be reading the rest of this series!!

I enjoyed this entire series! I was unsure what it would be like but I adored the ripped, tattooed hottie that was a closet Lego nerd.

Kinsey was a perfect match for him and I was so happy with the ending.

Neanderthal was such a fun read. Although it was a bit hard to believe Griff fell in love with Kinsey so quickly it was still great to see their interactions. I also did not enjoy the bet part of the story just because it did not really make any sense besides forcing the main characters to date. Overall I loved the family dynamics of the siblings and seeing a strong and smart lead like Kinsey. I also enjoyed the workplace drama because its something women in STEM face even now with things being more progressive. Overall enjoyed this story and hoping to catch up on more in the series.

Neanderthal is the second book in Avery Flynn’s Last Man Standing series but can most be read as a standalone. If you’re a person who yens for insta-love at first sight, a male lead who is one of few words, and a gregarious genius female lead who makes cooky and at-times stereotypical backwoods, southern euphemisms, then Neanderthal is right up your book alley. Unfortunately for me, the insta-love, the taciturn male lead and the over-the-top southern expletive’s from the female lead were too much.

I received an ARC from the author and publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Holy Smokes! This book was pure fire and I couldnt get enough of it. Griff and Kinsey are so drawn to each other and have so much chemistry that I think it overheated my Kindle. The scenes were so incredibly steamy, the characters were fun and complex, and a fun shoutout to Legos. Definitely dont miss out on this one. I look forward to reading more by this author, she is new to me and I need to read everything else in this series.

I am loving this series so far. It is definitely some of Avery Flynn's best work. I was hooked from the beginning and had a hard time putting this one down. I can't wait until book 3.

Oh goodness this book is one of the best I’ve read this year. Griff is his original form is someone I’d have dated anyways, being an introverted book worm. But Griff after he’s met Kinsey is OMG! I get how not having the words to express yourself can get in your way and make a mess of things so I was team Griff all the way until he panics and breaks up with her. Then I just wanted to punch him in the head. But he’s smart enough to admit his weaknesses and correct them so I’m team Griff once again.

After reading the previous book I was super intrigued by the tattooed, quiet nerd and was looking forward to his story. Griff was everything I was expecting him to be. That man was something else and I enjoyed him immensely. Thankfully, he was paired with Kinsey--a woman after my own heart. Funny, smart and able to give as good as she got, Kinsey complemented Griff in every way. Amongst the grunting, smexy scenes and nerd talk, Avery Flynn managed to bring forth Griff and Kinsey's connection in a way that made their pairing fun and viable to me, which was what ultimately led me to become invested in their story.

Awesome story. I read the first book in this series and it was not as much fun as this one. This was such an awesome story. The writing was great and the characters were so awesome and I adored this whole story from top to bottom.

Kinsey is new to town. Sorta a super smart hick who is a new scientist at a makeup company. She is new to town and has been online froms with Morgan Bennett. Morgan is Griff's sister and they live in the same penshouse floor. Morgan ends up inviting Kinsey to be her new rooomie. When she takes her to meet Griff for the first time he falls into insta love. But she also has a ring on her finger from a fiancee.

Added to that her new job is working for Morgan and Griff's makeup competitor. While that does not disturb them. It does disturb the jerk who is her boss and so that does cause some issues for Kinsey. That said she decides to fake date Griff to help him with a bet with his cousins but what happens when the first kiss is magic? and what about the fiancee?

This was a super fun story that had one curve ball thrown at this couple time after time and i loved watching them make it worth. It was a really great story and I loved it so much.

This was an interesting reads. I loved Griff and found Kinsey to be a bit annoying, but could see how they worked in an opposites attract way. Instalove can be hit or miss (more miss than hit), but in this book it worked. What I liked the most was the author's writing style, she takes a story that has unrealistic over the top elements but somehow it all works because she inserts little details that just suck you in. The details made to whole story for me.

If your favorite hero is the silent grumpy type? This book is for you! This Lego loving nerd is one of my favorite heroes of this year. And the heroin is a kick ass stem women. Need to ask for more? The question is no and I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

I have a couple of books by Ms. Flynn in my TBR pile but this is the first one that I have read and I liked it. Kinsey is funny and smart and Griff is likable. The two were amazing together and brought a new dimension to the story. I enjoyed and cannot wait to read more from Ms. Flynn. 4 solid stars****

I loved this book. It’s the perfect antidote for stress- full of laughs, snickers, tender moments…you name it and this book has it.

At first, I wasn’t sure that I was going to like the book. The main character seemed a bit cliche’. He rapidly grew on me and then I came to enjoy him tremendously. I don’t know if I changed or the book changed, but I loved his character by the a third of the way through the book. Honestly, the book was so much fun that I want to read the next book in the series.
