Loved reading this book. Amazing story and the characters lend to the charm of this book. I would highly recommend this book. You would not be disappointed.
This book was a really good read. It's a fast read full of emotions and holds your attention from the first page until the last. Rebekah and Joseph's story will touch your heart.
I received a complimentary copy from Vinspire Publishing via NetGalley and was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are my own.
I forget to have faith in my family. I forgot to hope for the best. And I forgot the importance of love.
Answer me quickly, O Lord! My spirit fails! Hide not your face from me, lest I be like those who down to the pit. Let me hear in the morning of your steadfast love, for in you I trust. Make me know the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul. Psalm 143:7-8.
The title does not suggest this is a series but upon reading it I think it is. It is a stand alone book but I would like to read the earlier volumes and get to know Rebekah and her husband Joseph. In Rebekah's cradle, Rebekah is dealing with a tough pregnancy. During the early 1900 and being Amish, they were limited in their care. Rebekah's family lives close and are a great help to her growing family. They have a special relationship due to the suffering and pulling together they have done over the years. They are about to deal with another that pretty much left me in tears. Knowing the background of Rebekah might prove helpful in understanding her insecurities. She was adopted as a small child and struggles with being a failure to the ones she loves the most. She feels the failure of a wife from a husband who adores her and once her child is born as a mother. A failure to her adoptive Amish father and mother. It all stems from a jealousy from a childhood friend that married her biological brother. She knows for well and certain that Katie has feelings for her husband. When she finds letters written between Katie and Joseph, she drives everyone she loves away.
Pain that is not resolved does put a hedge between the you and the people that you love. What ever you may feel about Rebekah, she represents how we are with our heavenly father. The pain of sin draws us a way from the God our father and creator. We miss his blessings and the ability to rest in his love. I really enjoyed her Rebekah's story of suffering and redemption. It was with faith and love that she could break down the walls that held her captive. May we see our own hearts in her story.
A special thank you to Vinspire Publishing and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.
A letter addressed to Joseph from Rebekah’s sister in law, Katie, has Rebekah feeling insecure in her marriage, not to mention that Katie used to have feelings for Joseph a long time ago that caused bad feelings between the women. When both women become pregnant at the same time, Rebekah questions why Katie is having such an easy time with her baby and she struggled with the birth of her baby who is also colicky. How does her husband really feel about Katie? Will he turn to Katie instead of her?
I enjoyed how the brought jealousy and lack of trust into the storyline…something that all readers can relate to at some point in their life. Perfect read if you need something quick.
I was given an ARC of this book for my honest review and opinion from NetGalley and the publisher.
Rebekah's Cradle is a sweet, clean story of Rebekah, a young married girl that is very insecure in her marriage to her husband Joseph, who loves her dearly. But Rebekah doesn't understand why her husband is writing letters to another girl that was interested in him in the past. She struggles through her pregnancy, and after having a difficult birth and almost loses her baby, she doesn't understand what is happening with her husband and the other girl, Katie. Until Katie and her husband come for a visit. She and Katie talks things out and she begins to understand thing better. A nice story, but not a long one.
Rebekah is pregnant with there first child and is having problems. She is bed ridden and struggles with the pregnancy. Her sister-in-law Katie is also having a child and writes a letter to Joseph not Rebekah. This letter brings lots of emotions for Rebekah and she pushes away her husband Joseph. This is a great book with lots of emotions for Rebekah such as her not trusting her husband, emotions on her motherhood skills and not trusting Katie because of things she did in the past. Great storyline.
Overall a nice Amish romance. Rebekah and her husband Joseph are going to have their first baby. Sadly though, Rebekah is anxious and jealous of an old girlfriend who keeps writing and emotional, when it should be a wonderful time for them. When their baby boy is born a month early, he is colicky and cannot drink her milk. This on top of everything causes so much tension in the house. With her father in poor health it adds another layer. More of a novella in length, which works actually, as it would be tiresome when at times I wanted to reach in and shake her. Oh well, I did enjoy it though and would recommend this one.
