Nearly twenty years ago Lara met Ben in a bar in New York. The chemistry between them was palpable and after spending the night together they arrange to meet later that day. The meeting never happens due to circumstances beyond both of their control and Lara would have chalked it up to experience except that shortly afterwards she discovered she was pregnant.
Roll forward to the present and Eliza, Lara's daughter is on a mission to find her father. The man that her mother had married had turned out not to be her Dad and she has questions. Cue a road trip and truths about the past.
Ben is now married and living in Cambridge. He and his wife Kirsten, have not had children, despite going through two rounds of IVF. The appearance of Lara and Eliza explodes their lives beyond recognition. As they all try and negotiate their way through the new circumstances, will their lives ever be the same again.
I loved reading this.

If you've ever wondered what life might have been like if you'd made a different choice, not missed a bus, called someone back etc etc then this is the book for you.

Lovely story - lost loves, fresh starts, realising dreams.

Highly recommended

I always really enjoy Lucy Diamond books and this one was no exception.
I really liked that once again all the characters in this story had very interesting and complex backstories and how they came together as the story progressed. I also really enjoyed how even though there were multiple pov’s I didn’t feel like there were too many perspectives taking place.
I loved the characters in this story, they all felt very real to me and I was rooting for them all to get the ending they deserved.

Overall I really enjoyed this and would definitely recommend!

This was a quick, easy and adorable read that was lighthearted and also humourous. I couldnt put it down and I read it really quickly i didnt expect the mystery within the book to be so gripping, I really enjoyed it.

The one thing I can always rely on with a Lucy Diamond novel is that they are perfect for a light, heart-warming read about real people and every-day issues, yet still have enough of a mystery to them that have you hooked till you get to the end.

Lara meets Ben in New York & they have one incredible sparks flying night together but things do not go as planned. 18 years later Eliza, Lara's daughter is trying to find her father but she finds out more than she bargained for. Great characters which doesn't surprise me because of Lucy Diamond's writing, alwyas good. I enjoyed this story very much & love the ending even more. Enjoy!

An easy read as always with Lucy Diamonds books. Interesting plot which kept you wanting to carry on reading.
Quite predictable at times but an enjoyable read.

I usually love Lucy Diamond’s books but, I really struggled with this one. It felt different from her others and I felt something was missing. It didn’t have the warmth or light-hearted feel to it like her books in the past. I do hope her next book is better. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

This is my first book by Lucy Diamond and based on this, it certainly won't be my last.

We follow Lara, Eliza and Ben on a journey of discovering who they are. For Lara and Ben, it's rediscovering who they were before life took them on a different path and for Eliza, it's working out who she is.
This book has some really emotional parts as well as some quite amusing parts. I really enjoyed it.

Thank you Netgalley and Quercus books for the chance to read an early copy of this book.

‘Love and resilience and the curiosity of wondering what might happen next’
Anything Could Happen is a wonderful, easy to read story of missed opportunities and second chances. Ben, Eliza and Lara were interesting to get to know but it was the secondary characters I found fascinating. From the people Lara met though her work to Ben’s sisters, they all added life to the story and gave the three main voices an added dimension. A lovely heartwarming read.

An easy and heart-warming exploring the lives of Lara, a single mother raising her teenage daughter Eliza. Until now, Eliza was under the impression her father left her and her mother, but when she realises this didnt take place, she goes on a journey to find her father. Although it was predictable, it was a good read.

Ben and Lara have a one-night stand in New York City.. They also have a lovely daughter, Eliza,

but Ben doesn't know anything about her existence. Now, eighteen years later., in England, a series of events lead

them to meet up again. causing upheaval for both families. Can they rekindle their love?

Memories and present-day realities clash in this down-to-earth romantic story of old-new love. People change

but love will always find a way to survive.. This is an engrossing and uplifting story, I enjoyed reading this book

very much.

Another brilliant book by Lucy diamond.

A well written following the story of Lara and her daughter Eliza as they navigate life and all the changes that can bring.........never mind finding an errant father who was also the love of Lara's life.

Can things work out second time round?

A great book.

This had a really punchy start that got my interest quickly. I felt like it got lost a bit in the middle but then picked up again at the end. Nice, gentle easy read. Good escapism.
Enjoyable.

I love Lucy Diamond’s books, but this one was not my favourite. I’m not sure why, but I just didn’t feel invested in Lara and Ben as a couple. I actually hoped that Ben would go back to his wife and that Lara would get with Ollie. There is more than one way to have a happy ending and this was too predictable.

Lucy Diamond has been my go to author for a light-hearted read for many years. I was looking forward to reading her latest novel but something seemed to be different. The characters were great, you could see the problems and solutions from all viewpoints. The locations were great too, beautiful Yorkshire coast and scenic Cambridge centre/.
Finally I decided it was the flashbacks and the slow pace which I had not encountered before in Lucy's writing.. This is still a good read, but for me not as memorable as some of her other books.

Anything Could Happen by Lucy Diamond.

Lara and Ben meet in New York. It’s an instant attraction between the two and sparks fly. After one perfect night, they arrange to meet again. However, fate steps in, and takes Lara and Ben in different directions and away from each other.
Fast forward almost nineteen years and Lara has a daughter, Eliza, who is turning eighteen.
Eliza is keen to find her father. Lara has some secrets to share with her daughter and the two set off on a journey to reconnect with the past and discover the truth.

There’s something about the characters that Lucy Diamond writes, they are always realistic and relatable.

There is some great dialogue in this book and I loved the relationships between the characters.

This book is very well written, it’s an engaging story, with lots of twists and turns to keep the reader interested.

Another fabulous feel good read from Lucy Diamond.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Oh what a lovely book ! A heartwarming story that had you swept along with Lara’s life. You couldn’t help but hope things work out for her and that she finds love. The book also dips into single parenting and the way it can knock your confidence. A thoroughly enjoyable read and totally recommend it, also what a lovely film this would make.

This is a lovely story of a couple who meet, have a not-quite-24-hour romance and then go their separate ways - not by choice but by circumstance.

18 years on and Lara, one half of that couple, has some explaining to do to daughter Eliza, who has always believed her dad left her when she was small. She decides to track him down and confront him only to be left with the bombshell that he wasn’t actually her father.

Eliza demands to know the truth and sets off on a road trip (solo at first) to find her dad, and the truth. Then Lara finds out and goes with her. And, well, after that, anything could happen!

I really enjoy Lucy’s writing and this is another star performer. The characters are likeable, flawed and relatable and there are enough twists and turns along the way to keep you engaged.

Serious topics of infertility, bereavement and relationship breakdowns are dealt with with sensitivity but lightly.

I definitely recommend this one for a cosy afternoon on the sofa. Thanks Netgalley for an early copy to review.

I stumbled upon Lucy Diamond by chance a few years ago and I'm so glad I did! Her stories are so easy to read and just flow without any effort to concentrate required.

This is another lovely heartwarming story where you're just willing the characters on to achieve their happy ending.

5* as usual!
