a nice light hearted book to read keeps your interest to the end and you hope it will be a happy ending after so many years which it is
I loved the Beach Cafe series, so was excited to see Lucy back with a standalone book.
Anything Could Happen is a light and easy read, perfect to relax with over a few hours and a cuppa. The storyline was intriguing, although far fetched and predictable in places. To round up, i did enjoy it, just not as much as some of her previous books.
With many thanks to NetGalley and Quercus Books for the opportunity to read this ARC, in return for an honest and unbiased review.
Another beautifully written easy read from Lucy Diamond. The characters of mother and daughter Lara and Eliza are very likeable and relatable and I thoroughly enjoyed their story. Thanks for the advance copy, a perfect holiday read!
A lovely easy read.
Thank you NetGalley for my complimentary copy in return for my honest review.
Anything Could Happen by Lucy Diamond, another NetGalley read. Mother and Daughter, Lara and Eliza have a very close relationship and for many years it’s just been the two of them. Lara has a secret, a first love, the one that got away. Eliza is at the age where she’s taking exams, hopefully with university in her future but she wants to know who she really is and where she comes from. From Eliza wanting to find who she is secrets are revealed. I read come books and weather they are good or bad it gives you the feels enough for me to right endless notes on how I feel about the book, however this wasn’t one of them. For me it was kind of bland, sadly it felt like I could be reading anything, there was nothing that made this book stand out from the rest. I have read books by this author before however it’s not an author I would normally gravitate towards and this won’t change after reading this book. If you new to this author then I wouldn’t necessarily start by reading this one, I think she has written better books. For me I thought that the will they won’t they relationship between Lara and Ben dragged on a bit and lost its magic, passion and anticipation in the length of telling that part of the story. Some parts of the story and the way it played out seemed like it wasn’t needed or didn’t have the strength behind it to anything to the overall outcome of the story and felt a bit unnecessary. The only positive for me was when part of the book was set in New York. Don’t get me wrong some parts had potential but it lacked something for me. I’m sorry if the review seems a bit vague in places as to what I am referring to however I don’t what to give anything away. Sadly I won’t be recommending this book to friends or family and I’m glad I hadn’t purchased this book because for me it was a wasted read. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
This was my first Lucy Diamond book and I have no idea how I’ve not discovered her before. I requested this after hearing Lucy speak at a Quercus books event and was so glad I did as it was such a lovely story.
It had a great setting, great characters and was written in a way that left you wanting more and more. Really liked this one!
A beautiful book full of likeable characters. The writing flowed really well, and it was well paced. Focuses more on family dynamics rather than romantic relationships which was lovely to see
Anything Could Happen by Lucy Diamond.
This was a an enjoyable read. A very relatable story about 'what ifs' and missed opportunities.
Though very pleasant, unfortunately it didn't really grab me.
3 stars for this one.
Another lovely read by Lucy diamond that I did not want to put down. I’ve been a fan of her books for years & this one was no exception. Highly recommended to anyone.
A good easy read
You will not want to put this book down
If you like lucy’s Books like I do you will enjoy this one
Thanks NetGalley
Such a lovely read- I love all of Lucy Diamond's novels and this is no exception. Full of warmth, heart and leaving you super content!
An engaging read. Easy to get into and follow. Characters are likeable and easy to engage with. A lovely story of what ifs and missed opportunities. A couple of mini twists along the way. Really enjoyable.
Thank you Netgalley
Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for an advance review copy.
I thought Anything Could Happen was great. A clever but plausible premise, with the couple first meeting in New York then losing touch. As the story developed I rooted more and more for Laura to find the happiness she missed out on all those years ago.
Eliza was very well written (reminded me of my niece straight away) and the plot drew me in and kept me reading right to the end. Definitely an enjoyable and lighthearted read!
Brilliant work again from this author. Never disappoints. I didn't want this to end .. the characters were so engaging. Recommended to all my friends.
Very enjoyable read, for a Lucy Diamond book it was a less romance focused and more family narrative but it was still very good. Lucy Diamond has a really nice writing style which is easy to read.
Lucy Diamond is a feel good fiction writer with a big heart. This book explored a lot of complexities between mothers daughters and parents having their own relationships.
I really enjoyed the story and even though there were times I thought I would guess the ending I had to keep going one more chapter to see if the twists and turns would lead to where I wanted to go!
Eliza is written very well (I work with teenage girls!) so nice to see that they have been characterised accurately with all their ups and downs and in betweens.
I will keep a look out for more of her novels.
Many thanks to Netgalley for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Diamond's books never disappoint and this one was no exception. When she was in her 20s, Lara spent some time in New York and met Ben whom she thought would be the one. With plans to meet later that night, she is left bereft when he doesn't show up. But that is nothing compared to how she feels a few months later when she discovers she is pregnant.. Now, 18 years later, Lara is surprised when her daughter Eliza demands to know who her father is and will stop at nothing to get the truth. Meanwhile, Ben and his wife Kirsten are no longer happily married, they just seem to co-exist. Little do Ben and Kirsten realise the curveball that will come at them when Eliza and Lara turn up with news Ben never thought he would hear. This was a brilliant story and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Lucy Diamond’s writing is so engaging I was hooked from the beginning. I really enjoyed this book and have raced through it desperate to see how their stories panned out.
A thoroughly enjoyable and entertaining read. I always love how Diamond weaves all the characters together and it is fun trying to work out the connections between them before they are revealed. The characters in this are particularly likeable and I enjoyed getting to know them and follow them on their adventures. Diamond takes us to different locations during this which again I really enjoyed. This is a feel good read.
This was a great read, nothing surprising or unexpected but sometimes you just want that lovely cosy reliable book - and this is it.
