I am sorry for the inconvenience but I don’t have the time to read this anymore and have lost interest in the concept. I believe that it would benefit your book more if I did not skim your book and write a rushed review. Again, I am sorry for the inconvenience.

Delving into the sampler of Stephanie Pearson's "100 Great American Parks" was akin to embarking on a visual odyssey through the heart of America's most treasured landscapes. As a devoted photography enthusiast, this glimpse into National Geographic's upcoming masterpiece left me awe-inspired, eagerly anticipating the complete exploration of these natural wonders.

While this sampler is but a teaser, it masterfully encapsulates the unparalleled beauty and diversity that awaits within the full book. National Geographic, true to its legacy, has curated a collection that goes beyond a mere travel guide—it's a celebration of America's cultural DNA, a testament to the breathtaking landscapes that define the nation's park system.

The stunning photography is, without a doubt, the highlight. Each image is a canvas that vividly paints the unique character of the parks—from the majestic mountain peaks of the Tetons to the constantly erupting volcanoes in Hawaii, and from the crystal-clad underworld of Carlsbad Caverns to the steamy swamps and mangrove forests of the deep South. The visuals are not just snapshots; they are windows into the soul of each park, capturing the essence of its landscapes, wildlife, and remarkable histories.

The diversity showcased in this collection is as expansive as the parks themselves. From bustling cities like New York with its Central Park gem to the secluded wonders of Yosemite and Sequoia, each destination beckons with its own charm. This sampler doesn't just inspire wanderlust; it instills a profound appreciation for the conservation and exploration of these natural open spaces.

As Garth Brooks, the legendary recording artist, aptly notes in the foreword, these parks represent the greatest experiences the world has to offer. Each entry in this captivating volume not only explores the landscapes and wildlife but also serves as a call to conserve these wonders for future generations.

In sum, "100 Great American Parks" is a captivating journey that promises not just travel information but an immersive experience. This innovative guide, adorned with National Geographic's hallmark photography, invites readers to connect with the unparalleled beauty that defines America's park system.

This was a lovely collection of pictures and descriptions of the 100 parks chosen to be part of this collection. This goes beyond just the U.S. National Parks, and includes places like Central Park in New York City.

I really liked how each park entry included the basics about the location, including whether there is lodging within the park. Some of the most beautiful places I have stayed are lodges within National Parks. Knowing to look for those lodges and whether they are in the park is a great resource!

This would be a beautiful coffee table book to have, or just a perfect reference book when you are planning trips around the US.

I only received an excerpt of this book but I think I will like the final finished product. The pictures were gorgeous and the history of each place was interesting. I liked that the author suggested things to do while visiting the parks. Overall, I’d say this is a very informative book. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me an ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.

100 Great American Parks was written by Stephanie Pearson.

I only received a small sample of this book, but can say that it contains some gorgeous pictures!

There are also well-written narratives about the history of the various parks and recreational areas, and plenty of inspiration to get out and travel.

This book would make a great coffee-table book, as well as serve as a great inspiration to explore some of the beautiful parks the U.S.A. has to offer.

I would like to thank National Geographic for providing me with a sample of this book in exchange for my review. Thank you.

4.5 Stars

While what I received was only a sampling of the written material and pictures of many US National Parks, it gave a decent illustration of what will be available in the full book. It's a nice overview and definitely intriguing for someone like me who loves the outdoors. It appeared well put together and the exposition was lovely and informative.

The book wasn't simply scenic landscape photographs with some writing that documented a park’s existence. Rather, there was much history to be gleaned from each park that was highlighted. For example, the displacement of the native Tuka Deka Indians who occupied the area within what has become Frank Church River of No Return in Idaho and the Selma to Montgomery Historic Trail which was protected to immortalize Martin Luther King's iconic walk for civil rights.

I love the outdoors and I’m thankful that I live in one of the most beautiful areas in the Pacific Northwest where I'm minutes away from both the Cascade Mountain Range and the Pacific Ocean. While the PNW wasn't included in this sample, National Geographic and Stephanie Pearson did a great job of reminding me of the costs made throughout history and why we get to enjoy all of our National Parks.

Based on everything I saw in this sampling, I intend to acquire my own copy of 100 Great American Parks.

Based on the excerpt I read, 100 Great American Parks has beautiful photography and a well-done survey of 100 parks throughout the fifty United States. It includes all the national parks as well as some outstanding state parks. Each entry provides a bit of history, accommodations that might be available, the park’s significance, and even the best times of the year to visit. Not to mention exquisite photographs.

While it certainly qualifies as a “coffee table” book, this book is also a tribute to the beautiful parks that we can all enjoy. It will fuel your desire to travel while also giving you an appreciation of what we, as a nation, should strive to preserve. I enjoyed paging through this sample. It’s a keeper.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing a copy of this book for review.

This is a preview of the book. From the preview, readers are introduced to several American parks, what they're known for, and the history behind them. The pictures included are bright and vibrant, which captures my attention as a reader (and potential visitor). I cannot wait to read the entire book.

This is an amazing book with wonderful pictures of our national parks plus more. I especially enjoyed the information given that told me the need to know travel information, wildlife spotting tips and histories of the parks. The only problem I had with this book was that I only saw a sample of the book. I would definitely think that anyone who likes to explore our national parks should have this book as a starting point to what one should not miss. It is a one-of-a kind book. Even if you don’t go camping, the book gives you fantastic scenes with incredible information.

Great coffee table book and gift. The only thing I don't like is that I'm sitting inside looking at the beautiful photos, fueling my wanderlust, instead of getting out there and experiencing these places myself!

100 Great American Parks - this was a sample. I really liked the photographs of various parks, including Yosemite. I liked the 1 page review/info about the selected park. This book would be a great gift for anyone outdoorsy, maybe to find a new place to visit!

This beautiful book is filled with exactly the sort of gorgeous photographs one might expect from National Geographic. This 400-page book provides an overview of 100 parks throughout all fifty states, including all 63 National Parks, as well as 37 state, recreational, and city parks and green spaces. The text is organized into five geographic regions. Each park’s entry includes the state where it's located, its size, the best time of year to visit, when it was established, and any accommodations, as well as a brief narrative of the park’s history and significance, and of course, photographs.

Based on the brief sample I was provided, I don’t think the text is detailed enough to function as a travel guide, but this is a nice survey of the nation’s parks.

At roughly 9 by 9 inches, this hardcover book is smaller than most coffee table books. However, I’ve found that I like this size; it's easier to hold than a larger book.

Thanks to National Geographic for providing me with an unproofed ARC sample through NetGalley.
