I loved the snippet that I got of what looks to be a beautiful coffee table book, but it was so short that it's hard to fully review it. I've visited many of the national parks and I always love both learning more about them and looking at pictures of their stunning natural beauty, so this is kind of the best of both worlds. The photographs are gorgeous and I think that a hardcover edition of this would really shine'!
Thank you to National Geographic and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Thank you, Netgalley and the publisher, for the opportunity to read and review an advanced reader's copy (sample) of this book. This in no way affects my review, all opinions are my own.
Based on what I saw, I can say that this is a great book to add to a library for those who love to hike, explore, or just enjoy the beauty of Mother Nature! The images were great and the author does not only include general information and historical information about the park but also a small summary of the size, location, etc.
I will be purchasing a few copies of this book. The sampling provided in this ARC is amazing! Great information and beautiful pictures. Not only is it informative, it will be a wonderful coffee table book.
Thank you #NetGalley, #NationalGeographic, #StephaniePearson and #100GreatAmericanParks
This was just a sample but I liked what I read and saw. The pictures were vibrant and beautiful. I loved the details about the parks and what was suggested for the best times to visit. I loved the historical mentions for when the parks were first established and just little details into the parks. The only one I’ve been to is Central Park. I dream of visiting Yosemite and the park mentioned in Idaho.
This is not how I would normally review a book. NetGalley only gave us a snippet of the book to read/review. It is similar to getting a sample at Amazon. I really can't tell enough to give a complete review. It is rather disappointing that they decided to do it this way. Form the parts that I did see, the pictures are great so as a coffee table book this would work. I felt that the information was not in depth and too light, I know more about these parks before looking at the book. Without seeing the entire book, I wonder what I missed or whether there really wasn't anything better.
Author Pearson has created a guide to the 63 National parks, including a smattering of state, recreational, and city parks. The guide includes photos, brief histories, best features, and tips for each park. The pictures are gorgeous. I appreciated the brief history lesson for each park. One of the best and most brief parts of the book is the best time of year to visit each.
Four stars for this coffee table book. If, like us, you are a fan of exploring the wonders of the conserved spaces in the United States of America, this book will help you develop a visit list. My thanks to #NationalGeographic via #Netgalley.

When National Geographic presents a new parks coffee-table book, I've come to expect great pictures of both Mother Nature and humans interacting with her. In that regard, this book doesn't dissappoint; there are stunning nature photos that will fill my stuck-at-home hearts and inviting pictures of people inhabiting those parks, whetting my appetite to get back out there and experience the nation and its wonder. The book's is organization into five interesting and specific sections which will make for a great thumbing experience, as readers search for both the familiar and the new.
One thing that makes 100 GREAT AMERICAN PARKS a stand out, though, is the poignant and historical content of both national and state parks which capture unforgettable moments in our collective memory. These offerings fill the heart with awe and wonder. For example, I devoured the piece on Kennedy's beloved Cape Cod, loved the show and explanation of pristinely preserved rivers protected by Johnson's Wild and Scenic Rivers Act, and was pleased to see even a bridge made famous by determined and brave peaceful protestors, a bridge which is connected with one of the most important movements causing change in the 20th century. With the promise that every state is represented within the pages, this new offering is not to miss.
Thank you for digital portions of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Oh, how I'd love to have the physical copy of this stunning book. As a traveler, I'm fascinated by the history of these incredible parks, but even more so by their beauty! The colorful photos are breathtaking and makes me anxious to get past this pandemic so I can comfortably visit some of the parks I haven't seen yet.
Although the photos are stunning, they don't hold a candle to being there in person. It's hard to capture the majestic beauty of the Sequoias in a photo. They are bigger and more magical than the mind can imagine. I can't wait to visit new places!
Thank you to Netgalley for my complimentary glimpse at this book.
Thank you for the review copy.
I liked it, the details and photographs were good quality and the information was nicely gathered.
Based on the Sample of this book that i received… I loved it! The pictures are magnificent and the descriptions are wonderful and full of history and fun facts. This is a must have for any nature connoisseur!
Special Thanks to NetGalley and National Geographic for providing me an ARC in exchange for my honest review
I was given a free copy in exchange for an honest review from #Netgalley. What a great resource for all wanting to visit our National Parks. Beautiful photos and information on 100 of our parks. Great non-fiction for both students and adults. #100GreatAmericanParks.
Advance read copy was only a 20 page sample of the book. Book looks to be a coffee table hardcopy with many beautiful glossy pictures; at least that is the electronic edition perception.
I love traveling and am always looking for new places to visit and want the inside scoop to make the most of a visit.
The pictures included as part of the 20 pages were very beautiful.
Honestly rather disappointed that only 5 parks were included in the advance read copy edition. Really there wasn't enough content provided to adequately review this book.
Thank you to NetGalley, the author Stephanie Pearson and the publisher/National Geographic for the opportunity to read the 20 page advance read copy in exchange for an honest review. There isn't enough content to entice me to purchase the book. Publication date is expected to be 10 May 2022.
This is another wonderful book by National Geographic. There are five sections to this book. It divides the USA into geographical areas. (The West and the Pacific, Off the Mainland, The East and Mid-Atlantic, The South, and the Midwest and the Plains). As expected, the photography is superb. There is a one or two page description of the park and what to see there. You really can never go wrong with National Geographic books. This would be a great book for a bucket list reference as well as those who want to see as many of our National Parks as they can. This would be a great book for campers, RVer's and those who want to explore the great outdoors.
I would like to thank the author, National Geographic and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I think this would be a good book. Unfortunately, NetGalley would only give me a few pages of it (4 or 5 parks, I think) so it's hard for me to speak to a full review. The summaries of the parks are somewhat short and simple, but I assume if I was holding a book of all 100 parks included, I'd appreciate some brevity.
So, hard to review. I'll give 4 stars because I love these parks so much.
This is a sampler of the book, and it's quite lovely, which is what one would expect from National Geographic. I've always wanted to travel the country, but I've never had the chance to do so. Therefore, it was nice to live vicariously through these photos and fun facts on each park. This would make a great gift, coffee table book, or even an option to pep up a waiting room!
I received a sample of this primarily photo book from National Geographic via Netgalley. I might have enjoyed it more if I had the entire book with all of the photos. Unfortunately, the sample I received had more text than photos, which was somewhat interesting, but not enough to keep my interest. I didn’t see enough to really determine whether this book is worth buying.
Based off the short excerpt e-ARC, this is going to be a beautiful, thorough look at "100 Great American Parks"! There are clear, colorful pictures of not just national parks, but state parks, national monuments, and landmarks! Each section gives you a quick history and overview of the park it talks about-even including the best time to visit the spots and what kind of accommodations you can expect.
I'd recommend this for anyone who wants some adventure ideas, or who wants a coffee table book that will leave you feeling inspired!
Thanks to Netgalley and National Geographic for the e-ARC review excerpt.
It’s difficult to provide feedback on this book as it is just a sampling of the entire book. I’m interested in seeing more when it gets published. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced reader’s “sample” of this book.
A beautiful collection of key information and beautiful photographs of parks across America. Each highlight includes relevant facts including the size of the park, best time to visit, year established, and any accommodations. Interesting information is included such as history of the park, wildlife that may be visible, key points of interest, and places to be sure to see. This is a wonderful collection for your coffee table or for planning your next vacation.
This is a brief, 10 page, preview of 100 American public parks, 63 national parks and 37 state, city and other parks. The pictures are stunning and the descriptions are appealing. There's historial information and wildlife info the book, as well. If the full version is anywhere near as beautiful as this preview, it will be a hit and a bestseller for sure! I'm pretty sure this one will be on my shelf in May 2022 after it's published. This would be the perfect gift for a graduate or anyone you love. Thank you, NetGalley and National Geographic for the ARC and the opportunity to review.
