Kernick is one of my drop everything else to read authors! & He didn't disappoint with this one.
Opens with a bang & the pace doesn't let up until it's explosive conclusion!

Due to a sudden, unexpected passing in the family a few years ago and another more recently and my subsequent (mental) health issues stemming from that, I was unable to download this book in time to review it before it was archived as I did not visit this site for several years after the bereavements. This meant I didn't read or venture onto netgalley for years as not only did it remind me of that person as they shared my passion for reading, but I also struggled to maintain interest in anything due to overwhelming depression. I was therefore unable to download this title in time and so I couldn't give a review as it wasn't successfully acquired before it was archived. The second issue that has happened with some of my other books is that I had them downloaded to one particular device and said device is now defunct, so I have no access to those books anymore, sadly.

This means I can't leave an accurate reflection of my feelings towards the book as I am unable to read it now and so I am leaving a message of explanation instead. I am now back to reading and reviewing full time as once considerable time had passed I have found that books have been helping me significantly in terms of my mindset and mental health - this was after having no interest in anything for quite a number of years after the passings. Anything requested and approved will be read and a review written and posted to Amazon (where I am a Hall of Famer & Top Reviewer), Goodreads (where I have several thousand friends and the same amount who follow my reviews) and Waterstones (or Barnes & Noble if the publisher is American based). Thank you for the opportunity and apologies for the inconvenience

Simon does it again!
Totally unputdownable (is that a word?!)
This was a really well written book and had me totally on the edge of my seat a few times. It was very well written and the story flowed well and I didn't want it to end. Highly recommend.

Had been looking forward to reading this book. Sadly it wasn’t for me. It just lacked a good plot to get you excited and wanting more. It was very slow paced and never picked up

A master of the page turner, to say I couldn't wait to get to the next chapter is an understatement.

I have never read anything by Simon Kernick before but Good Cop Bad Cop proved to be an impressive introduction to his writing, a fast paced thriller full of interesting characters, a gritty read that had me intrigued.

Ex detective Chris Sketty meets Dr Teller who believes Sketty had more to do with the terrorist attack in which Skeller’s wife died. Sketty retells the events leading up to the attack and his role in it.

The reader is kept guessing throughout as to how reliable Sketty’s version of events is - is he Good Cop or Bad Cop? I for one kept changing my mind and my desire to find out kept me turning the pages as it raced to its thrilling conclusion. I will certainly be reading more of Kernick’s books in future.

An action thriller from the popular and prolific Simon Kernick. There are plenty of twists and turns to keep the reader engaged to the end.

Chris Sketty is a former Detective Constable and hailed a hero for foiling a terrorist attack 14 years ago. Now retired, Chris is convinced there was more to what went on than meets the eye, and he’s determined to prove it. The storyline takes us backwards and forwards from present day to 14 years previous when Chris is sent undercover by Counter Terrorism Commend to investigate a corrupt police officer. I have to admit, my opinions on whether I liked Chris’s character swapped and changed as the book moved on. At times, I empathised with him and believed in what he was doing, and at others I wondered whether he was really any better than the ones he is investigated! The title of the book couldn’t be any more apt as it does leave you wondering whether Chris really was a good cop or a bad one.

The storyline, as like other books by this author, was gritty, gripping and gruesome! There is a lot of violence and murders throughout, so if this really isn’t your thing…there’s your warning! It’s really all done in context with the plot though, and whilst some of the scenes may have left my stomach churning, the plot was just too good for me to stop for a breather! As I read, I could picture characters from TV programmes which I love which would fit in the role of some of these characters if it ever got to the big screen! I likened it to so many crime dramas which I’ve seen and, in particular, if you like Line of Duty then you will love this book. None of the characters were especially likeable, but you do find yourself rooting for some of them to be the good cop and do the right thing!

I found myself racing through this book to find out where it was all heading and found it very difficult to put down! The story twists and turns throughout and there are plenty of red herrings thrown in for good luck. I loved the ending, although I did find it rather unsettling, and wondered if there may be future books to come? This was fast paced, full of action and had more murders than you can shake a stick at! Loved it! Would recommend!

Simon Kernick is a complete go to author for me I always find his work thrilling, compelling and highly imaginative but not too unrealistic. This book was absolutely no exception. My genuine only criticism was that I could not get on board with a character known as ‘sketty’ I just could not do it, it’s such a funny word that I couldn’t get my head around it. Other than that loved it!

Chris Sketty, former undercover cop was a hero when he almost lost his life trying to stop a terrorist attack. But one man is convinced that the truth is Sketty is no hero but instead a liar, a murderer....and possibly a criminal mastermind. Now Sketty has been blackmailed into telling the truth. Or maybe just his version of it.....

It's been awhile since I've sat and read a book in one go. A combination of quarantine and this been a seriously compelling read meant this was a one afternoon read. I literally was physically unable to turn my Kindle off until I knew the truth.....or at least some of it. A fantastic thriller.

I always look forward to a new book by Simon Kernick and Good Cop Bad cop doesn’t disappoint. This is another action-packed, high octane, British thriller of one person trying to find truth of what happen that fatal day. As always this is a great page turner that I didn’t want to put down. It had a great plot and a satisfying ending. Five stars from me. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A twisty engaging thriller where we don’t know who to trust. The main question that remains unanswered throughout the book is whether former detective Chris Sketty is a good guy who happens to find himself in the wrong place at the wrong time or is he part of something more sinister.

We see events unfold from Sketty’s point of view but we can’t be quite sure if he is telling it like it really is. The book moves on at great pace and When Sketty is part of an undercover mission that doesn’t turn out the way it’s planned we are left wondering does Sketty know more about what happened than he is letting on and is he really the hero of the hour. Years later when people from his past and a journalist try to uncover what actually happened Sketty finds himself in danger and so do those around him.

An engaging book with a flawed but likeable main character.

DC Chris Sketty is an undercover cop, who has been hailed a hero for foiling a terrorist attack some years ago - but someone is convinced that this is not true.
Fast paced action book in where Chris tells his side and nobody is what they seem - who is the good gut and who is the bad guy?
This book was a page turner for me and thoroughly enjoyed reading Simon Kernicks book - must read some previous books of his now,

Another outstanding novel by one of my favourite authors! You think you have the storyline and characters sussed when you're hit with revelation after revelation which leaves you reeling. I loved the idea of the reader having to decide whether the narrator was trustworthy or not. My opinion kept changing throughout and the book had a brilliant climax. Loved this book.

This is another great thriller from this fantastic author
Chris Sketty is a former police officer but is he innocent or guilty. With its twisting plot this is truly a page turner.
The story is told with smooth transitions from past to present and with the main character Sketty narrating most of it.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and would highly recommend it
