Ella Quinn does not know how to write a bad book. Readers will love her writing! Nate meets Henrietta by accident while helping one of his tenants. What he soon discovers is that romance between the two of them is not without issue. You see, three years earlier Nate had abducted Henriett'as sister to save his best friend from marriage and has been trying to make amends ever since.

This book has everything you want in a story and true love really can conquer all.

I received this book free for a review by NetGalley. I am a current fan of this author. I find in the past her book interesting and enjoyable. I like both H and H and did enjoy the interaction of all the other "players" who were involved in getting them together. Many scenes did bring a smile to my face and thought "aww that is sweet." It was a nice romance book and still recommend it to friends. That said most of her books are stand-alone with a few cross-overs. This had too much of who - who and related to whom which made my interest waiver. Still worth reading.

Thanks to Netgalley, Kensington Books and the author for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is the 3rd book in the Lords of London series and the first one I have read. This one tells the story of Henrietta Stern and her chance encounter with a man who she discovers abducted her sister 4 years previously. It seems Nate, Viscount Fotherby, has since turned over a new leaf and is leading a full and charitable life. She herself is involved in rescuing unfortunate babies from criminals in London who sell them, so it's established early on that these two have a lot in common.

This is obviously a well-researched book that touches on poverty, crime, politics, women's rights and even slavery throughout the novel. It's well-written and detailed - I particularly like the Irish wolfhound Padraig, who Nate tends to talk to a lot.

After the initial meeting, the two don't meet again until 1/3 of the way through the book which was too slow a build-up for me. There's a lot of conversation between other characters in the book, which perhaps would have added more depth if I had read the previous two books in the series, but it just seemed like there was too much conversation going on and not enough action. The addition of other suitors for Henrietta's hand didn't add much conflict. I found Henrietta to be too perfect to actually relate to. Nate could have been more interesting with his past misdemeanours but the emphasis was so much on what a good person he was now that he seemed to be lacking in depth.

There wasn't enough chemistry between the two main characters - they liked each other, they were both good people and there wasn't that much standing in their way. It felt a bit bland when I wanted some fireworks.

Unfortunately, I skimmed a lot of the last half of the book - it just didn't hold my interest and the story was too slow-paced for me.

Having said that, the writing is very good and the level of detail in the book demonstrates how well-researched it is. The action does pick up towards the end.

Because of that, I am rating it 3 stars.

I had a hard time DNF'ing this book, because I wanted to believe there was more to it. But at the 50% mark I just had to say "enough!".

The book begins with a chance encounter between Nate and Henrietta, when she went on a rescue mission turned sideways and he steps in to help her. They have a 2 minute conversation (max!) and after that they both decide they want to marry each other. Even though they're both intent on marring each other, they haven't even been introduced or haven't spoken since their first encounter. So, what follows is about 80 pages of not knowing who the other is and then upon finding out Nate kidnapped Henrietta's sister in a previous book, it's a vicious cycle of repetitive "oh, how I hope Nate/I will get accepted and pardoned by my/her family, what will I do if they don't?"... Sigh. We learn Nate has gone through a major character growth, yet I failed to see how not just stepping up to Merton and offering an honest apology would've solved everything (but then there wouldn't be a book, I know). That would've been a great way to actually show off his character growth in this book, since the growing part happened before this book takes place. And after pining for and scheming to marry Nate for half the book, Henrietta turns around and decides she'll get courted by 2 other suitors. I didn't get why she would've suddenly lost her infatuation and it made me realize I just couldn't take any more. That's when I DNF'ed.

I had high hopes for this book, but quickly became bored while reading. At first, I thought it was a result of me not having read the other books in the series. Whereas that would've been helpful to know all the side characters and history (like how Nate used to be), it just doesn't explain why it put me in a reading slump and I was dragging my feet to pick it back up.

In my opinion, the book would've been better if either the 'not knowing each other' period would've been shortened and/or if things would've happened in that period (more than just seeing each other riding).

If you've read the previous books and enjoyed them, I can imagine you'll like seeing how Nate has changed. The book can be read as a stand alone. However, I won't be recommending it.

Viscount Nathanael (Nate) Fotherby has made some mistakes in his past, which ended up having him being exiled to the country. He’s been trying to make amends ever since.

He finds himself returning to London, before the Season, in search of a wife. One woman sparks his interest, a lady he helped when she was rescuing a baby. Miss Henrietta Stern.

But there is a difficult complication… she is the sister of the woman he abducted in the past, to save his best friend from marriage. And the family has never forgiven him…

Will Nate be able to win Henrietta’s affection, be forgiven by her family and prove himself to be the perfect husband?

I do enjoy historical fiction, especially set in this time/age. Loved the story & characters. It has romance, little spice & I definitely enjoyed this story!

A highly enjoyable romance. I'm not sure it was Quinn's best, but it was a solid winter read to take me out of the cold doldrums! If you enjoy Quinn's work, you will enjoy this.

An interesting book to read. There was a good story and intriguing characters. The main ones showed a lot of compassion to the poorest class. I enjoyed finding out whether they would get married because of what happened earlier. A god book to read.

Usually I’m a big fan of Ella Quinn, but this series, and this book in particular, left me feeling like something’s missing. The opening scene is action-packed and interesting, which is almost disappointing because that was the high point of the story. The premise held such potential but went nowhere. Reading about good people doing good things and having good things happen to them isn’t very interesting. I need my characters to have to work a little harder for a happily ever after.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

This book is painfully slow. After the inciting action involving a man getting shot and the love interests meeting, there’s more about eggs for breakfast and ordering boots and chatting with friends than getting to know the main characters. Aside from the initial meeting/attraction, it was at %34 point before the couple even talked.

I really thought the point of this book was going to be getting the couple into the same room and hearing about every single friend in this wide Ella Quinn universe.

Once the couple officially meets it’s still slow on building the romance, but at this point the book is half over. And then, all of a sudden it’s insta-love. I still don’t know why these two people want to be together. At the %65 mark I was just flipping pages. It’s all send a note to this person and ride with that person and who is having a baby and then suddenly we’re getting off in a public park.

There were editing errors throughout. Pronoun and name mistakes, mistakes with continuity, spacing, and punctuation. Point of view changes within a scene. Being the 3rd in a series as well as having crossover characters from another series made it a hard to keep so many unnecessary supporting characters straight, but if you’ve read the others it’s probably more readable.

Skip this one unless you’ve read the other books in the series and want to catch up with the parade of side characters. The romance alone isn’t worth the time.

The Most Eligible Bride in London is an excellent slow burn romance. Nathanael, Viscount Fotherby, has to prove himself, not only to Henrietta, but to her sister. He has messed things up royally and had a big lesson to learn the hard way. It is interesting his mother was placed in charge of straightening him out. One could ask, she raised him; would she do better with his ‘lesson’ this time?

Upon a chance meeting, Nathanael and Henrietta have an instant attraction. Oh, and she shoots a man defending herself. Oddly, it did not seem to be that big a deal due to her helping save a baby and herself. Yet, it works into the story line well.

The nature of ‘introductions’ in that time period had a lot of time in this romance assisting with the slow burn effect. That added to the aspect of Nathanael and Henrietta being able to see and learn more about each other. The difficulty with Henrietta’s sister stems from Nathanael’s kidnapping of Dotty in When a Marquis Chooses a Bride, from the Worthington series. Being an Ella Quinn fan helped in knowing the numerous other characters and how they connected. Although Most Eligible Bride is definitely a stand-alone, it helped to have a knowledge of the secondary characters.

I will say that Chapter 34 seemed inconsequential and just kind of added for affect. It was not essential to this romantic tale. Although it did not stop me from enjoying Henrietta and Nathanael’s sweet love story and their connection.

p.s. You may want to correct the use of the word 'pubic' to public. It is used 2X in the pre-print copy.

Mistakes happen, to be sure. Rarely are those mistakes as unfortunate as the one made by Nathanael, Viscount Fotherby, when he abducted the now Lady Merton to save his friend from marriage. Nate has been trying to make amends ever since, leaving behind his self-centered ways to fulfill his duties—and that includes finding a wife of his own. One woman sparks his interest above all others—a lady he helped when she was rescuing a child. Alas, there is a devilish complication…
Miss Henrietta Stern, Lady Merton’s younger sister, is intrigued by the stranger who comes to her aid—until she learns his identity. Nate’s stunt could have ruined her sister’s reputation, and her family may never forgive him. With beauty, connections, and a sizeable dowry, Henrietta has plenty of admirers. Yet no other suitor quickens her pulse quite like Nate does. Her heart insists that the gentleman has changed for the better. But can a renowned scoundrel possibly prove himself to be the perfect husband?
Nate and Henrietta are just meant to be together. He rescued her more than once. As a stranger he rescued her and a child the first time. This is a convoluted tale of misunderstanding and love.
Ella Quinn has written an absolutely incredible story.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and NetGalley. This in no way affects my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.

The cover was what drew me in. I don't think this author's for me. I couldn't get into the story and the characters. They were fine.

Henrietta meets Nate when he saves her from ruffians. Neither knows who the other is. When Henrietta finds out that Nate was responsible for kidnapping her sister several years ago, she wants nothing to do with him. However, they can’t deny the attraction. Henrietta realizes Nate has changed and is persuaded to give him a second chance. Will her close family ever accept him? I received an ARC from NetGalley and Kensington Books for my honest review.

Title: The Most Eligible Bride in London
Author: Ella Quinn

This is Henrietta and Nate's story. There is a lot of potential with this plot: the hero was a self-absorbed scoundrel and wronged the heroine's sister. He was sent away to be reformed and upon his return helps Henrietta while rescuing a child without knowing who either is. They are both drawn to each other (or so we're told; I saw little evidence of the development of their attraction). During this chance meeting, Henrietta makes an enemy as she shoots, and eventually kills, a villain; his relation is out for blood and eventually gets some revenge as he seriously injures Nate. There is one mention of this person having it out for Henrietta; I think this should have been better developed as it later leads to Nate's near demise.

But let me back up... there is SO MUCH this book could have done, but didn't. There are interesting secondary characters, and scheming mothers and grandmothers, but in my opinion, the author does a better job getting you to like the secondary characters instead of developing and showing (not telling) you about the hero and heroine. You have Nate and Henrietta supposedly pining for each other and are constantly told they cannot be together because her sister will never forgive him for abducting her. You see some scenes where Nate and Henrietta come to spend time together, but then when the steamy scenes occur, I was like what just happened?! I know this isn't the author's first novel, and I believe I've read at least a handful of other titles by her, so I do not understand what happened here. This was a major disappointment to me.

One thing I did really like, is that after Nate recovers from his head trauma, the story continues up until their wedding. So many times books end before you get to see anything after they finally get together, which this book did.

I rate this book 2-stars for its underwhelming development of the plot and no steam.

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

I received this book as an ARC from NetGalley. I found this to be a highly entertaining book.
Henrietta and Nate faced many challenges because of what had happened between Nate and her sister Dotty. It was a feel good "low steam" fun read with a bit of violence thrown in. Ms. Quinn has done it again!

The Most Eligible Bride in London by Ella Quinn is the new instalment in her Lords of London series. In this release we get to see a new and very much improved Nathanael, Viscount Fotherby. For those of you that are new to the series and familiar with Nathanael there are enough references to the unfortunate incident that this makes a fine enough read without having read the other books. However, I’m of the opinion that it reads best if one has read the book leading to his banishment.

The reason I say this is because, I had found myself laughing uproariously at his antics and his manner of dress. For one, I think the reader will feel more sympathetic, more appreciative, and ultimately over the moon that Nathanael was not left out of getting a happy ending as his friends found, just because he was slower in “growing up” per say. I don’t think a reader can fully get those feelings if they had not read the other books to get to know him and watch his growth.

Now, that I have pushed my opinion on you guys, here’s a brief review of how this book proceeds. Miss Henrietta Stern, Lady Merton’s younger sister who caused Nate’s banishment is about to take part in the season again. No one has been able to catch her eyes, though not from lack of trying. This could be since this young lady, like the rest of the women in her family and friends is not a featherbrain, nor a surface beauty. Thus, she is looking for the male counterpart that would not only understand her but support her causes. A fortuitous incident brings her in contact with the new and improve Nate and this is where things get…complicated. Her family, especially her sister is not in support of the match. They simply cannot believe that the Nate they knew, can and has changed that much to be the right one for her.

Nate on the other hand, having left behind his self-centered ways, has now been fulfilling his duties to his tenants, and his beloved mother which now means finding a wife and begetting heirs. The only problem is no woman has sparked his interest since he now wants what all his mates have found, and he sees what love can be like in a marriage. All his reformed endeavors may come to nothing though because proving himself worthy of the bride his heart chose may prove insurmountable as she’s Lady Merton’s beloved sister.

This means we the readers are left hoping and cheering for Henrietta and Nate as they set out to prove to everyone that, they do belong together. With a little help from a couple of unlikely allies, these two will have to ultimately decide whether to choose self-happiness or family loyalty. Hopefully, you will find this story of love conquering all as delightful as I did. This review was given on the ARC copy received from the Publisher via NetGalley in return for my honest opinion. Happy reading!

Though I tried, I really couldn't get into this book. I'm sure a lot of people would like this story, but for me the pace was too slow and there was a lot of nothing going on. I remember marking up a few chapters and underlining entire paragraphs that were describing events or random details that had no relevance to the story whatsoever. I was excited to read this book because the plot was intriguing, but ultimately I was disappointed.

I generally like Ella Quinn's novels, but I've really struggled with this series and this book in particular. The characters feel very... single-dimensional and too reliant on the tropes of historical romance novels as a genre. I've noticed such little difference from the characters in each of these books (the women all seem very similar in the way that they behave and speak, and the men have this flaw as well) that it feels like little payoff to continue reading. The story is very "tell, not show" in terms of Nate and it got very frustrating to hear in every chapter how he changed without any tangible comparison to his past behaviors besides what the characters talk about in the novel.
