This series just makes me so happy. Wallflowers (borderline spinsters) taking matters into their own hands saying “screw society” in a way to go after what they want??? We love.
Add in a bit of second chance?????? With a man who is from a different class but has always loved her since he saved her from a river when they were children?????????
Obsessed.
Some of the pacing felt a bit weird? Which made it a little harder to understand how their feelings were shifting as they were? But aside from that, sweet angel Niall trying to take whatever he could get from his Fi Fi, and Ophelia learning what it feels like for someone to have her back unconditionally made my heart squeeze and I loved them so much and I love Stacy Reid and I want to read more wallflower books.
Did I mention I love Stacy Reid? I love Stacy Reid.
And these books on audio were delightful.
Wow this book was just so good and so easy to get lost in. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and I just didn't want the story to end. I just couldn't get enough of these wonderful characters and I just loved getting to see their journey. I will most definitely be reading more stories from this wonderful author.
An old tale of romance, where boy meets girl, they fall in love and are never to meet again until their adulthood where he strives to get her back but is just a pauper and he father, a wealthy noble, will not allow it. The romance story is fairly intriguing but predictable, enjoyed reading it though.
I usually really love this author, but this book was just so slow. She found out about his identity in like the 5th chapter and then it's just them dancing around each other regarding their relationship and not in a fun way.
One of my favorite Stacy Reid books ever written! I don't think I've ever been so drawn to characters as I was with Devlin and Ophelia. That opening scene when they were children and the callbacks once they are reunited is the reason why I read romance novels. Stacy Reid is one of the most talented historical romance writers to date!

Devlin and Ophelia meet in an endearing way. It creates a bond that basically shapes Devlin’s desire to attain wealth and status to be worthy of marrying a lady of Ophelia’s caliber. Fifteen years later, Devlin sees Ophelia at a ball and it reignites all the feelings he has harbored for her.
I really loved Devlin because he clawed his way to money. These kinds of stories really highlight the fickle nature of the ton and their classism ways. Ophelia’s parents certainly showed their elitist attitude against the man who saved their daughter’s life.
But Devlin’s love for Ophelia was just the best part of this book. He was steadfast, loyal and patient. He really had to put up with terrible treatment from Ophelia’s parents and the ton. I enjoyed the angst, the storytelling, the journey the innocent Ophelia to enjoying love with Devlin. What a cute story. I can’t wait for the next wallflower story.
I love Stacy Reid’s writing style, it manages to help you dive into the century she is writing about! Here we get to know of Ophelia and Nyall who met as children and fell in love. I loved the aspect of someone who was not the typical rich lord as the male lead (even though it is my preference) but this book caught my attention right until the last sentence. And the spice was also a great aspect!
Definitely a book to recommend!
Love Stacy Reid. She weaves in complex stories with well developed characters with real well fleshed out motivations. I loved the angst and pining in this one. And it was steamy.
I am giving this story 1 star because of the book cover! In the prologue Niall goes on to describe Fifi's hair as "black like raven feathers." Why didn't the editor or AUTHOR realize that the model was blond? If they did not take the time to look over the cover and realizes this BIG MISTAKE, then why should I care about giving a good review?
I really enjoyed this installment in the Sinful Wallflowers series!
Niall and Ophelia (whom he calls FiFi) meet when he rescues her from a river when they were both children. Together, they are lost in the woods for days--forging a friendship that would endure in their memories for years. They innocently decide to marry, although when they are discovered and she is returned home, Lady Ophelia's father (a marquis) laughs at Niall's pretensions and sends him on his way.
To Niall, however, FiFi remains a north star, although he does not see her again for fifteen years. He accidentally encounters her in her Lady Starlight disguise--a costume she wears so she can travel through the less savory parts of town, ostensibly to sing in taverns but actually to hunt for a long-lost but important figure in her life. Niall--now Devlin Byrne, a much-feared, wealthy, and shadowy figure on the edges of society--and Ophelia reunite and begin to fall in love. The question is: will anyone support them, and can Ophelia jeopardize everything she's every known to be with him?
If you love a childhood-friends-to-adult-lovers romance, or a romance where someone has patiently held a torch for another for years, this is your jam. Most of the book is situated from Ophelia's point of view, and Devlin/Niall is such a wonderful hero I wish we'd gotten more insight into his mind and feelings (beyond his unwavering love for FiFi). Some of the side characters were a bit one-dimensional. Basically, I wanted more--more depth, more time in Niall's head, more of all the stuff that made this book so enjoyable.
This whole series has been delightful, and with three more Sinful Wallflowers to go, I can't wait to see what they dare in the next book
I loved the past history of the two main characters that brought them back around together again. The passion and storyline were great and I really enjoyed the characters as well.
This was a solid romance. Ophelia and Niall meet as children when he saves her from drowning and then looks after her until she is rescued. They form a bond over those days, falling in love, but are separated when she is found and don't see one another again for years. Ophelia is a lady of the ton and carries her family's expectations with that. She learns she has a protector while on the streets but doesn't learn for some time that he is Niall, working under the name Devlin. When the two reconnect they find their bond stronger than ever and must decide whether they can every truly be together with their differences in station. The heat of this one was off the charts. Ophelia has a family secret that brings some drama to the story. I really liked Niall/Devlin and how he treated Ophelia. Stacy Reid is a great writer and any fan of historical romance should like this one. I will be looking to read more from her in the future.
Stacy Reid is one of my favorite authors. She continues to surprise me with enthralling narratives, and A SCOUNDREL OF HER OWN is no different. It is a story that captures your attention the entire way! I highly recommend giving it a read!
A beautiful romance. I love a romance where the characters meet as children and their hearts belong to each other but circumstances push them apart and they meet again years later and fall in love all over again as adults,
Stacy Reid writes amazing romances that you can't put down. I highly recommend this one.
I loved the first of this series, liked the second, and I think I skimmed most of this one. Ophelia’s family felt flat and sucked a lot of joy out of the story, which might be why it felt overly long. It just didn't feel like a Stacy Reid book.
I have been a huge fan of Stacy Reid for quite a while. She has a way of drawing you into the story and making you feel every emotion the characters are feeling. It is the same with this second chance love story, even if Ophelia doesn't realize it a second chance. The first meeting between Ophelia and Niall has shaped how he has lived his life and made him who he is. Another brilliant story to add to her catalog.
I received this book free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Stacy Reid is a must-read for fans of historical romance. I have yet to read one of her books that I didn't lose myself in.
This book features edgy, sexy characters who draw you in to their world.
The plot evolves naturally. It's well paced and blends drama, romance and desire perfectly.
I received an arc of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
It was a refreshing read so far away from the fantasy ones. This is from the time when society was very much separated from high class to commoners. Will you be daring enough to follow your heart instead of the society norms? It’s all about following your heart and instincts, the story is flawless and written perfectly in sync. I loved the characters so much and was able to relate to everything happening.
Ophelia is the MC with Niall being the badass guy. She’s the cream of the society, who has to weigh all her actions as per the standards. He’s the goon of the society with only one ambition of finding his lady love. The story starts with them being lost in a forest and taking care of each other when they were very young, at the time filled with love and devotion, Niall decided he’ll marry Ophelia when they come of age. The only hurdle to that promise is that he's no one and to change that he does what he does. Read the book to know.
After 15 yrs when circumstances bring them together again, the chemistry between them flares and damm be the consequences things happen on their own accord. I appreciate the banter between them. The spice level is perfect with the story and the love between them is just wow. I smiled at every nook and corner of the story. It is high on emotions whether they are happy or sad, and confusion and expectations, everything is tenfold. The shape of the story is so much intensified by the way Niall thinks and the things he does.
This is a whole new level of second-chance romance with the hero and heroine having met in childhood before being torn apart and never knowing each other. Ophelia grows up thinking he was just a feverish dream. Devlin grows up feeling the pain of her loss, but never knowing her real name until a chance passing on the seedy streets of London reveals her to him.
From there, he begins a tug-of-war with his conscience as much as her as he tries to pull her into his orbit and claim her as his own. She instinctively responds to him not knowing who he is or understanding his fascination with her. They are each fierce and determined, but it is not until they turn those feelings towards each other rather than against that true passion ignites leading them to the love that has been waiting for them since they were children in the woods.
It is one of Stacy Reid’s best stories to date with well-developed characters and a stirring plot. It is a stand-alone novel that does not need to be read with the other books in the series to be appreciated, although other characters from those novels do appear.
Although slow to start, I ultimately enjoyed the story. Ophelia and Devlin were likable leads and had good chemistry. The supporting characters were just an added bonus.
Thank you Stacy Reid, Entangled Publishing and NetGalley for allowing me an advance copy for my honest feedback.
