This novel was absolutely perfect. It has all of the elements I look for in a romance novel. I laughed, I cried, I got butterflies in my stomach. I got all the feels while reading this. Pros: ROMANCE!! I’ve read a lot of HR that somehow doesn’t have a lot of romance. A lot of novels get lost in side plots, dumb villains, mechanical s*x scenes, and simply, filler. This novel really just focuses on the romance. You really get to see Devlin and Ophelia falling in love with each other. The romance is the descriptions of kisses, forehead kisses, loving glances, heated looks, gut clenches, 😍😍. A lot of steamier romance is too focused on the sex and not on these smaller, more loving details that really help you visualize the depth of emotion and feeling between the H and h. I really enjoyed that this was also slower paced but definitely not boring. The cons: I can’t really think of much other than some grammar issues. With Stacy Reid, sometimes there is a tendency to overuse certain words. In this novel, it was rakishly. I also didn’t feel that the issue with Ophelia’s mother was totally resolved. I don’t want to give particulars to not spoil it. I felt that that issue should have been explored more in regards to Ophelia’s father and the part he played in that particular plot. He just explains his reasoning and it felt like his actions were considered to be justified because he doted on Ophelia and kept her happy. But the scenes surrounding this part of the plot are really beautiful and even made me cry. This is a really wonderful, amazing, fantastic novel. I think it might be my favorite this year, with just two days left this year! I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

What a romantic and wonderful read! I knew from the beginning on how Devlin and Ophelia met that I would enjoy this book. I found myself smiling at times. The relationship and romance is so sweet, passionate and adorable. They have to overcome society and family judgements but they both have their own paths to follow than what society deems appropriate. Not quite a 5 star because some parts were a little slow but overall really enjoyed this book and Devlin and Ophelia. Can’t wait for the next one with Fanny!

I loved A Scoundrel Of Her Own. This is the story of two people who were thrown together briefly as children then separated by the circumstance of their birth. Ophelia is the daughter of a marquess and is expected to move and marry within the highest echelons of society. Devlin is a self-made man, who through sheer guts and determination has risen from abject poverty as a child to a position of power and wealth, yet in society’s eyes he will never be good enough for Ophelia.
Sensual, seductive and just a bit scandalous, this story held me throughout. I loved the game of cat and mouse Devlin played with Ophelia, first offering her £10.000 for a song then another £10,000 for a dance. He clearly knows her family is in dire financial straits and that she will comply in order to clear some debts. Ophelia has led a very sheltered life so watching her awakening to the sensual promises Devlin makes her is lovely. The descriptions of her responses and Devlin’s reactions were superb. I also liked the way this story highlighted the class differences and showed ways of addressing the problems. It was good to see the attention to detail here too.
Overall this story moved fast, the pace undulating nicely to see me interested in watching what was going on while still having time to admire the scenery and the gorgeous clothing. This has been an entertaining story throughout.
✨The feminine urge to make eye contact with my crush of 15 years and 6 months across the dance floor at a ball.✨
This man never gave up. He was like “literally whatever I can get of this woman I will take because I respect her decisions and I really hope I get all of her but I’d settle for an eyebrow raise every other year if that’s all she can give me but I’ll still care for her and protect her and give her everything she needs with no repayment because I’ve loved her so desperately since I was twelve and she was eight.” Never gave up in a good way. She didn’t want him to give up either. The pining was mutual. The pining was enough to fill a forest. The pining had pining.
He didn’t hold anything against her, not her position in society, not her parents, not her need to feel his love and know that he loved her. He didn’t give up in the face of adversity. When her parents rejected the suit he didn’t run away. He waited for her. He didn’t go against her wishes. He listened to her and loved her and trusted her to feel the same and to do the same for him.
There was no third act breakup because they were truly and irrevocably in love and didn’t need a breakup to bring them back together once they realized what they were missing. No, they understood what they would be missing if they split up. They worked for it and made the active choice to stay together through it all.
The moment I knew this book could never disappoint me was when Devlin asked Rhys for wooing tips with his whole heart. That man asked another man for wooing tips. He brought it BACK up in the conversation. There was no saving him. He was gone and never wanted to return. The way I cried.
He was a cinnamon roll with extra icing and a four course breakfast on the side with freshly squeezed orange juice, a latte, and an untouched crossword puzzle all served up on a cute little tray in bed. There was probably even a disgustingly thoughtful flower in a mini milk bottle vase on the cute little tray as well. He’s THAT delicious.
I mean the fact that he understood that she couldn’t speak to him in the park (although I wanted her to run to him) and just kept on loving her and understanding her absolutely sent me. LET ME REPEAT HE DIDN'T GET MAD AT HER. It didn’t lead to a breakup! Tears! So many tears! Pride? Who is she. Ego? Don’t know her. The irrational male urge to leave because “that’s what’s best for her?” Never even entered the chat.
I talked so much about Devlin but Ophelia was wonderful too. Her own story was very touching and fun and emotional. I liked that she was Lady Starlight but that it didn’t overtake the plot. I loved watching her fall in love Devlin, especially when she realized just how good he really was. Damn I am so jealous of her. I love that she chose her own happiness over her parents’. I love that she chose him. I love that she told Effie to go fuck herself in lady of the ton terms.
As for sex, this book did it everywhere. Carriages, under the stars, desks, beds, cottages. There was dirty talk, educational language, and just so many “I can’t believe this is actually happening, so pinch me but in a hot way” moments. Hell I couldn’t believe it was happening. I still can’t believe a book this full of love exists.
Overall, this book was just disgustingly good. Like so good. The second book in the series was also just so goddamn perfect. Stacy Reid is such a force and is quickly becoming one of my favorite historical romance authors. She just gets it all. She knows what the characters need and what the readers need and she really knows how to fuck me right up.

✨ARC Review✨
I have to admit that I went into this blind, and didn’t realize until after the fact that it was part of a series. I do need to eventually go back and grab up the two previously published books, but this one can be read as a stand-alone.
What I Loved:
-historical romance (a goal for 2022 is to read more of these)
-Ophelia & Devlin (being from different upbringings makes them forbidden)
-friends to lovers
-opposites attract
-good levels of steamy and angsty moments
This was a beautiful love story about two people who were brought together as children, and as they grew older, couldn’t be together because of social class and society rules. However, when the heart wants what it wants, love always finds a way!
I have heard this is a great one for fans of Bridgerton! I have not read/watched that series yet, but it’s another goal for 2022!

Finding Ophelia!
As individuals I enjoyed the characters of Devlin Byrne and Lady Ophelia Darby. I loved the prologue, mysterious and haunting. Children saving children. But the putting together of these two as a couple didn’t quite work as it should have for me. In the end I felt Ophelia was grappling with too much unresolved baggage. Her torn loyalties between her parents and the one who couldn’t be named, her parents and Devlin, their attitudes and hers became too complicated. Ophelia’s search for her beginnings is all consuming.
Ophelia’s cousin Effie ended up being all that Ophelia was fighting against.
Don’t get me wrong. I enjoyed the story but the essence of who Ophelia and Devon are was constantly in danger of being watered down by their inner reflections. Sure there were some delicious moments. The way Devlin kept sending simple yet outrageous requests and Ophelia’s responses. The way she accepted the challenges delighted me. Minor characters seemed to appear and then fall off the edge of the chapter. I also felt more could’ve been made of Ophelia’s singing. BTW, I loved Conan the dog.

I enjoyed reading Fifi and Devlin’s amazing story in A Scoundrel of Her Own by Stacy Reid, book three in her Sinful Wallflowers series. Devlin Niall Byrne and Lady Ophelia Darby met years ago when they were children and he saved her from drowning and then kept her safe for days before they were found. Back then they were simply Niall and Fifi: with 12-year old Niall falling in love with her, swearing to always keep her safe and asking her to marry him. Then 8-year-old Ophelia agreed, not realizing the difference in their stations would keep them apart. When she was returned to her parents, her father made it very clear to Niall that he would never be good enough for Ophelia and sent him on his way. But Niall knew that from that moment on, he would do whatever was necessary to become worthy of his Fifi.
Many years later Devlin Byrne has become a very rich man who has just about given up trying to find his Fifi when fate steps in; bringing these two together again. Ophelia has had a good life which becomes upended when she learns that she was the product of a dalliance her father had when he first married. If only that was the only secret her father kept from her. Ophelia becomes devoted to learning all she can about her birth mother; risking her safety by visiting the darker side of London. It is there she finds Devlin. Devlin is a wonderful hero and Ophelia is his perfect match. Their story has a bit of everything, secrets, lies, betrayal, forbidden love, magnetic chemistry, sizzling love scenes, and an ending that will bring a tear to your eye and a smile to your face.
Ms. Reid wrote an emotional, love story that should not be missed. She provided a tale rich with emotions, sizzling chemistry, secrets, wonderful dialogue, and engaging characters giving Fifi and Devlin a chance to have a forever love. I highly recommend A Scoundrel of Her Own to other readers.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
I have to say I love everything that Stacy Reid writes, all of her books leave me deeply emotionally connected to the characters, and they tug at my heart strings. This was another great book. Lady Ophelia Darby meets Devlin "Niall" Byrne when they are children and he saves her from drowning in a river, protecting and caring for several days until they are found and returned home. During that time they develop a charming friendship and promise they will marry, however, they are separated once returned home due to their different stations in life, her a lady and him from a loving but impoverished family. Over a decade later they meet again at very different places in their lives, but will Devlin be able to help his "FiFi" find the answers she is looking for and will their childhood promises come to fruition....read this delightful story to find out.
This is what I needed now. To get whisked away to another time, to a love you can’t resist, to these two people, Ophelia and Devlin. I just couldn’t put it down, completely engrossed and enamored with this whole story and their whole world. I cannot wait for more ❤️
Well-written and fast paced, A Scoundrel of Her Own has what it takes to make a romance that you don’t want to put down. Devlin and Ophelia are the perfect pair, destined to be together since they met as children. When they meet again, they deal with class prejudice, disdain, secrets, lies and betrayal. Will they be able to overcome these obstacles and be together? An interesting plot that holds your attention; strong, determined characters, and an exciting and steamy romance come together to make a delicious story. I enjoyed and recommend it.

Loved the starting of this book. It was really sweet, beautiful and innocent. The plot was sooooo good. I loved it. It was beautifully written as well. And not to mention the chemistry between Ophelia and Devlin was hot and sweet at the same time. Really enjoyed the third installment just like the previous other two books.
A forbidden romance between an independent lady and a notorious scoundrel causes sparks to fly in A Scoundrel of Her Own. Stacy Reid’s Sinful Wallflowers are back and more daring than ever as Ophelia takes center stage.
Ophelia has been raised with all the comforts and luxuries of her station plus she has the added benefit of loving parents. Devlin scraped, fought, and with ruthless determination went from a poverty-stricken child to a wealthy and dangerous man. They couldn’t be more different and yet, they fit one another perfectly. Ophelia is bound by society’s rules, but beneath all that lies a wild heart that clamors to be free. Devlin lives among the shadows, his life shaped by a burning need stemming from an event in his childhood. Ophelia’s openness and free-spiritedness charmed me, but it was Devlin with his yearning heart that really grabbed my attention. He’s so dangerous that the common criminal will run from his name, but he’s a complete goner when it comes to Ophelia. The more I learned about Devlin and his huge heart, the more I wanted to see Ophelia throw caution to the wind and fall for him. But their class differences are so great that not even his wealth can bridge the divide. How Reid brings about the happily ever after I won’t spoil; suffice it to say she wraps everything up in a satisfying manner.
A Scoundrel of Her Own is by turns steamy and sweet. Every secret outing Devlin and Ophelia have is filled with warm, sometimes funny moments. The open and honest way they talk made me believe in them as a couple. Underneath it all is a simmering sexual tension that is wonderful to watch boil over. Devlin and Ophelia are a match for each other in every respect. I thoroughly enjoyed watching them fall in love and forge their own path. Stacy Reid’s romances never fail to make me smile and sigh and Ophelia and Devlin’s is no exception. I cannot wait to see what Reid has in store for the next Sinful Wallflower!
Obviously, Stacy Reid can do no wrong at this point. This was another five-star read from her and I really admire how she write her characters. I feel like I really get to know Ophelia and Devlin more, and they really felt like real people to me. I loved the prologue, it's wholesome and heartbreaking and it definitely hooked me early on, which is a staple of her books and I'm not complaining. She's also great at writing annoying characters because I really felt the rage all throughout. How I wished Devlin had just dragged Ophelia's father to ruin. That man doesn't deserve the right to have that position in society, especially the right to be Ophelia's father. The audacity!
Chapter 6 is a bomb and a chef's kiss. Definitely a favorite chapter! I also need a Devlin right now. Definitely a book boyfriend!
My favorite quote (among others):
"Existing at the will of others is rather unpleasant, so we are determined to live by our own wants and desires."
Overall, I loved this book and as usual, I can't wait to read the subsequent books in this series as well as the author's backlist. This book also solidifies the fact that Stacy Reid is now one of my favorite authors whom I will be supporting 'til the end of time, and we love to see it!
A Scoundrel of Her Own is the third book in the Sinful Wallflowers series by Stacy Reid. A steamy historical romance that is sure to take your breath away with undeniable chemistry and lots of drama. I can't wait to read the next book in the Sinful Wallflowers series.
Another great addition to the sinful wallflowers. I cannot say that they are getting better because they are all books you stay up all night just to finish.
A dangerous childhood encounter leads to a passionate entanglement of Ophelia and Devlin as adults.
The difference in classes, the poor versus the rich and all the issues that can tear 2 lovers apart or cement their future can be found in the pages of this story.
I adore Devlin’s deep love for Ophelia as living through the feelings of a man adds to the reading enjoyment.
And that is to be found in the sinful wallflowers series, so be sure to scoop up the other 2 books and relish the reading.
Too slow paced for my liking. I know alot of historical romance readers who will love this though just not for me.

Wow am I ever impressed with this book! This is the first book I've picked up by this author and I truly can't wait to pick up her others. It can be difficult for a book to stand out in this genre due to the overall predictability (though that is why we keep coming back to this genre lol) but this one really hit the mark. I found the storyline unique, intriguing, and full of wonderful messages.
Lady Ophelia aka Fifi was a breath of fresh air. She was intelligent and resourceful, and stood up for what she believed in even when it went against the status quo. Her fierce determination in fighting the prejudice that permeated the London ton was admirable, to say the least. She was well-spoken, passionate, and just an overall enjoyable character. I really liked how the author wrote her.
Then we have Devlin. Wow. Just wow. I have an obsession with male characters that are fiercely loyal to and protective of the object of their affections. Devlin did not disappoint in this regard. He had eyes for Ophelia, and Ophelia only. He was crass in all the right ways, and stopped at nothing to achieve his goals. Watching these two fall in love was a huge delight. I absolutely adored their back story and how they met - it felt like fate and I'm a sucker for that kind of story.
I do wish that we had explored Fifi as Lady Starlight just a bit more and I also am not sure how I feel about the ending as it pertained to Ophelia's parents. All of my questions were answered in that regard, so I dont feel like I'm missing anything but I did get the feeling that it was a bit brushed under the rug. Overall however, I loved this story, and I really loved the author's writing style. I'm very excited to read the previous two novels in this series and am looking forward to the next one! It sounded like a great premise if I'm guessing the correct character!
Lady Ophelia and Devlin meet as young kids after Devlin rescues Ophelia from almost drowning. They quickly become friends and eventually pledge themselves to each other, then life had other plans for them. 15 years later, they cross paths with each other, but life has changed them so much. Lady Ophelia likes to moonlight as Lady Starlight and Devlin has a dark and dangerous reputation. Will fate bring them together or keep them apart the rest of their lives?
This was a wonderful Historical Romance book. I'm a big fan of Stacy Reid and always enjoy reading her books. Devlin was such a likeable and romantic hero, one that you don't see often in Romance novels anymore and Ophelia was a beautiful and delightful heroine. Their chemistry was amazing and it had enough mystery to keep me from getting bored! I absolutely loved this one!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for the ARC in exchange for my review and honest opinions.
Fast-paced steamy historical read. Lady Ophelia lives two very different lives, the daughter of a powerful Marquess and darlin of the ton and also a singer and connected to the ruler of the underworld, Devlin. When she learns of a family secret, she wants to investigate further and Devlin is there to help her. Entertaining read with loads of drama, suspense and steam. Great characters with sizzling chemistry. I liked it.
There are authors who write Regency and Victorian novels set in England wonderfully only to fall short when writing novels set in America during the same time period. Then other authors are exactly the opposite, they write great books set in America only to flop when writing books set in England. Stacy Reid is a special breed of author, she writes books from from locations expertly. Her books, just like A Scoundrel of Her Own, always have wonderful, powerful characters, in-depth, exciting plots, and beautifully descriptive scenery. There is one thing I have learned when reading Stacy Reid, especially this book, you won't be disappointed. I highly recommend A Scoundrel of Her Own, and get previous books too.
