A delightfully scandalous historical romance that will keep readers entertained until the very end. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It has some of the most interesting characters and scenes I have come across in historical fiction. I would definitely recommend it to all romance lovers.

Lady Ophelia is a wallflower and a spinster, by all accounts. Although even if that wasn't the case, she still wouldn't care about society's opinion. Especially, when it comes to the people she chooses to befriend or love.

Devlin has only one goal in life. Meet his childhood crush once more and maybe, just maybe, become influential enough to be worthy of her. But he has no grand notions of romance. Understanding his place in the society, he only wants to have a brief, hopefully scandalous and sinful, encounter with her.

The two of them are in for a surprise, because matters of the heart are neither simple nor straightforward. Once they meet, they will soon realize they can't stay away from each other. What happens next is anyone's guess.

I thought this was a fun and creative story. I especially enjoyed the prologue. I like Ophelia, but am not so sure what to think of Devlin but he is alright. It was a fun quick read.

Stacy Reed is my new favorite author. I love this series. This is book 3 in the sinful wallflower series. This story is about lady Ophelia, AKA lady starlight, AKA Fifi. Lady Ophelia is the daughter of Marquis.
This story starts with a very long prologue but an adorable cute meet. It sucks you right in from the beginning. Ophelia falls into the river. A young boy, Niall, sees this and jumps in after her to save her. They end up pretty far down river but he manages to get her out of the water. They find hunting cabin to rest in and get warm and live for several days on Nile hunting and cooking to help them survive. Just before they are rescued, Niall tells Fifi (as he gives her a special name) he is going to marry her when they grow up. But once rescued, Niall is cast aside, after all he is the son of a carpenter and she the daughter of a Marquis.
Many years later, Niall, aka Derek Byrne, has the privilege of hearing Lady Starlight sing. He eventually realizes that Lady Starlight and his Fifi are one and the same. He has led his life trying to make himself good enough for her. Now that he has found her, his goal is to do just that.
I loved, not only the story itself, but also the characters. Devlin was determined, kind, intelligent, and passionate. Passionate about others, about his family, about Fifi.
Lady Ophelia was spoiled. But she also tried helping others. Her servants, her maid, her parents. But she was trying to have the best of both worlds, hers and Devlin's. But eventually she had to decide which it would be.
This story was great from the start, right thru to the end. It never faltered.
5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I've read a zillion such novels but this is a new author to me. And wow! Now I'm going to have to purchase all of her books to read! But great H/h especially H. And great, HOT sex scenes. We LIKE steamy scenes. If you want "sweet" there are plenty of those on amazon--find one you like and use the related books section to find more. But if you want steamy, well, start here! Well done, author!

Book 3 in Stacy Reid’s “Sinful Wallflowers” series. Pub day 12/28/21

At 8 yrs old, Ophelia falls into a river and is drowning, that’s when 12 year old Niall jumps in saving her, but they’re swept down river. They make their way out, and find a hunters cabin where they wait it out for days until they’re found. He nicknames her Fifi, and they tell each other they will marry someday, exchanging homemade rings — my favorite moment in the book, it’s so sweet and adorable! They are found, but Niall isn’t welcomed by her family. The father laughs and tells Niall he’ll never marry his daughter. They’re the tons upper crust, he’s a commoner.

Sixteen years later, Ophelia’s father reveals a horrible family secret to her because he thinks he’s dying. This secret is how Ophelia and Niall/now Devlin Byrne eventually reunite. He’s never forgotten her, has always loved her, and has waited for her all this time.

I loved Niall/Devlin’s heartening, swoon-worthy character, he’s now one of my FAVORITE HEROES, and it’s absolutely beautiful how his love for Ophelia shines through the entire book. This was unputdownable with a fascinating plot that kept me glued to my seat. It’s one of my favorite new releases of the year. I could talk and gush forever about this book, but I won’t say anymore. Just read it, it’s so so good!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Much thanks to Entangled Publishing via NetGalley!

After reading Her Wicked Marquess I was so ready for Ophelia's story and I was quite let down. Overall I think this book is fine and entertaining enough. There were parts and pieces and genre staples I enjoyed on their own.

I was letdown by Lady Starlight, whom was set up in the last book and the blurb as big part of this but she only appeared two or three times (barely) in the first half. Her search for her father's secret was also set up as plot point but throughout I felt it had been forgotten. I didn't know Ophelia, she was this and she was that but I couldn't reconcile the disparate parts of her personality. Devlin on the other hand I felt like I knew and I wanted more of him, I wanted to know and see more of him, instead we were just told about him. And really that's my gripe here, I wanted more showing and less telling.

This may be very un-romance of me but IMO this book focused on their forbidden liaison and almost forgot about the things driving the plot.

Lady Ophelia Darby was told some upsetting news and now she has a mission. She and the other "Sinful Wallflowers" have sworn to live their lives to please themselves not society. Her alter ego as Lady Starlight gives her freedom to be herself, even if it is in disguise.

Devlin Byrne has dragged himself out of the gutter and made a fortune, all because of a little girl he once rescued. The secrets of the past can free you, or ruin you.

This is a sexy historical romance with fabulous characters. Our daring heroine seems fearless in her pursuit of the truth. Our ruthless hero us more vulnerable than he first appears. Lots of fun and some very emotional moments. Although this is part of a series you can read each book on it's own. It will tempt you to buy the others.

I loved it.

As usual, this author bats this story out of the park. It is exciting and full of love. She and Niall meet as young children. Naill jumps into a river to save young Ophelia. He keeps her safe while the two
children wait to be found. He feeds her, makes sure she is clean, and keeps her warm. He asks her to wait for him, as her mother takes her into the house.

His name is Niall and he is a commoner. His father is a carpenter and does not make much money. He also has two sisters and his mom. Her parents treat Naill awful. I don't think he understands the difference in their stations until he is older.

There are a lot of things happening in their lives. He has vowed to become worthy of her and endeavors to do just that. This book is more about their more mature years. It is romantic and watching the love grow like a flower is wonderful to watch. The characters were wonderful and very engaging. It helped the novel to continue to keep our attention and entertain us. I can't wait for the next book.

I received this ARC from Net Galley and voluntarily reviewed it.

This book swept me away from the beginning. This was historical romance it its best!

Lady Ophelia’s childhood hero, who rescued her from an accident is banished from her life due to his meager position in society… this does not stop Devlin Byrne from going to London and remaking himself into a man worthy of a Marquess’s daughter.

Now wealthy and powerful in his own right, Devlin still does not have a place in the ton and can’t reach his former love… that is until she steps out into the stews, his territory and the sparks from their youth reignite!

This was a gorgeous tale of lovers across class divides. Devlin’s pursuit and devotion to Lady Ophelia made my heart go aflutter. The forbidden nature of their courtship was so fun to read and their steamy coupling was perfection!

I am just blown away at how good this book and series is. The first Sinful Wallflowers was a home run, and amazingly this series has only gotten better and better! This is one of my top favourite historical romance series.

Note- This book can easily be read as a standalone, but like I said, the series is awesome, so your should read it all!!

A Scoundrel of Her Own by Stacy Reid is scheduled to release December 28th, 2020.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Entangled Publishing. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Lady Ophelia Darby, daughter of a marquess, is masquerading as songstress Lady Starlight while she looks into a mystery from her past. She is protected by scoundrel, Devlin Byrne, whose notorious wealth and ruthlessness aren’t without purpose. They are fighting temptation, but their secrets could lead to more than just scandal.

This is the third book in the Sinful Wallflowers series. This book can be read alone, but the previous couples are mentioned, and the timeline of this book picks up near the end of the previous story.

Stacy Reid writes really engaging characters, and I was hooked from the prologue! I don't want to reveal much about the plot, but these characters have history and magnetic chemistry. It's beautiful to have a hero in Devlin who is so in love and heartbreakingly vulnerable! And Ophelia, too, was so open and increasingly loyal to him. I rooted for them the whole way through!

Tropes: Class Difference, Protector, Secret Job, Disguised, First Love

Interesting story of a couple that originally met when they were children. They came from different social classes, so her parents didn't approve of him even though he saved their daughter from drowning.
Years later, they meet again as adults. He has become very wealthy and wants to win her back.
The story is steamy and the road to finding each other again is rocky. A recommended read.
I obtained a free digital copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

What a beautiful, touching book I’m glad I picked up!

A Scoundrel of Her Own by Stacy Reid is part of the Sinful Wallflowers series but is considered a standalone. The story revolves around Lady Ophelia Darby - daughter of a marquess. She has a secret identity as a songstress named Lady Starlight, going through the streets at night searching for someone for answers. She finds herself safe in the dark under the protection of Devlin Byrne, a wealthy individual feared by commoners and nobles alike. Discovering more family secrets, Ophelia turns to him for help – and finds herself learning and caring more about him as time passes.

I want to start this by saying I love both Ophelia and Devlin. I love that they are characters that are so inherently good, with no notion of class or preference. They help the ones who need them and are both loyal and faithful. I love them apart and together. They are just so wonderful. I also love how natural their relationship progress. The pining on Devlin’s part is heartbreaking at times, especially at moments of his vulnerability and talks of his past experiences. His journey is an example of how harsh words can impact someone’s character and how cruel prejudice can be. I find Ophelia’s mixed feelings about family loyalty relatable, as well as her confusion concerning her feelings for Devlin.

I also like that they have a similar stance on social issues, despite being in different circles - which people around them seem to remind them constantly. I love the topic of what makes a person deserving and undeserving of the same treatment. I thought that’s so well-written.

I adore this book so much, I highly recommend it.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for the ARC, in exchange for honest feedback.

Oh, how I love when Stacy Reid puts together a terrific tale. This time we have two people who live double lives, have deep secrets and then end up needing each other to get through it all.

A Scoundrel of Her Own by Stacy Reid is exactly the kind of Historical Romance I have been craving in 2021. Of course it would come right at the end of the year but such is life. Stacy Reid is able to bring the glamour and sexiness of time period with edginess and fun.

There was childhood magic, class-differences, secrets, and goats! Yes.. There is a goat! I absolutely devoured this book and it was so refreshing to read about a heroine who was just so genuinely good and sweet. Ophelia was a little naïve but not in the way that annoys me too much.

Let's talk about this hero… Devlin is the man of my historical romance dreams. He may be a scoundrel and a rogue and a man in control of everything around him. But he has his eyes and heart set on Ophelia and no matter what comes in the way. He is set on wooing her. He even lies to himself about it a bit but everyone who knows him… knows about his obsession.

I am just running in circles with this because I don't want to spoil anything, and a lot of my favorite things are the spoilers. So I will save some of that gush for myself. But I'll say this.

Stacy Reid is always able to suck me in, get me on the sides of her characters and have me rooting for them the whole way through. No matter the obstacles, their love will win out. Which is our promise of the HEA but she makes the ride so enjoyable. The chemistry, the sweetness, the naughtiness, it was all a delight.

I can't wait to read more in this series and the set up for where I think the next book will go has me hyped!

The one thing that really bugged me were her parents. I needed there to be more closer in that arena, especially because her relationship with them was so vital to this story. It felt like we just dropped it at the very end. But I will leave it that for now.

But you are in for a good time with this one.

4.5/5 stars

Stacy Reid is my Top 5 Historical Romance writers. I eagerly anticipate each new release, and A Scoundrel of Her Own was no different,

The prologue was delightful and set up a great reunion between two people from very different backgrounds.

Fast forward quite a few years and Lady Ophelia Darby Byrne finds out some disturbing information from her father. It is then that Devlin “Niall” Byrne inserts himself back in Ophelia’s life and offers his help on her quest for answers. Although Devlin now has wealth, his poor upbringing still sets him outside of Ophelia’s circle. Will he ever belong and win her love despite their differences?

This was the first book In awhile that I found some negatives to comment on. One, the story seemed to drag a bit after their reunion and also had some choppy scenes that didn’t flow well.. Another was that for such a wonderful prologue, Ophelia quickly forgot about her former friend and rescuer which was disappointing considering all that Devlin went through to make something of himself for her.

I do love how Reid writes of real family dynamics and can show fractured relationships heal. I especially enjoyed the transformation of the mother-daughter relationship that occurred in this story. Not everything is perfect in life, but there can be forgiveness along with continued ups and downs.

Overall, while not my favorite in the series, it shouldn’t be missed!

Why have I been sleeping on Stacy Reid? Come on somebody slap me LOL

A scoundrel; of her own is book 3 in the sinful wallflower series and follows Lady Ophelia Darby, an independent daughter of a marquess, wallflower who masquerades as Lady Starlight an underground singer and Devlin Niall, a self-made man, a wealthy, notorious scoundrel. Their meet cute story is the sweetest as they met as kids but the story focuses on them as an adults more when she uncovers a family secret.. Oh mayn Stacy delivered on angst, steam and romance. I highly recommend!

Simply sinful. Lady Ophelia is a member of the sinful wallflowers. She is a vibrant and willful lady who is determined to live her best life. Devlin aka Niall is a self made man who came up on the streets. The two had met over a decade ago when Niall saved Ophelia from drowning. The story is sensual and steamy as they explore their feelings for each other in the adult world. There is a lot of witty conversations that will see you turning the pages as you get to know these exciting and wonderful characters. The ending is sweeter for how much harder they have to work to achieve their happily ever after.

I really liked this book. The writing was a little choppy and it took me a while to get into the story, but once I did, I thoroughly enjoyed it. Ophelia was just the best and Niall was a great supporting partner to her character in this romance. They had a lot of really sweet moments that made me root for them. Overall, this was a good quick read. If you like historical romance, you’ll like this for sure.

This was a great historical read! .

I loved their relationship, not all was as it seemed and both had secrets they were keeping. As they grew to trust each other and the secrets were revealed, it was beautiful to watch their walls come down. They had excellent chemistry, and I loved how totally gone Devlin was for her even as he had himself convinced he wasn’t in love. He was a very compelling character, one with a bad reputation but was actually sweet and caring underneath it all.

I wish there was a little more action or plot, I was a little bored in the middle because not a lot was happening, but overall a great read, one I think fans of Sarah MacLean will love.

Wow. This is my favorite book by this author. This was simply amazing.
Do you know when you want a badass hero that will do anything for the heroine but is still so romantic? Or heroin that is strong and knows her own mind and is not afraid of what others think of her? You will find this here.

Devlin is the perfect hero for me. Everyone thinks he is violent and aggressive, and you know what, he is. But he is also loving, caring, and a cinnamon roll. His story doesn't come from a tragic past or the death of a loved one. His story comes from love, and Stacy Reid has just upped the historical romance for me with this book.

Ophelia is what I want every female protagonist could be in a book. She is dedicated, loyal and so strong. She receives some news at the begging of this book that would shake many people. While confused, she still lived, and love her friends and parents. But Devlin, she fought for and with him, she was there every step of the way, not the damsel in distress that waits for a prince to save her.

This, for me, is the best book in this series. It was emotional and heartbreaking at times, but it made me laugh, and I enjoyed it so much. I wish I could have this with every book I read.
