This ARC was provided to me via Kindle by Ellen Maxwell Cowan and #NetGalley for my honest opinion. Opinions expressed are completely my own.
I couldn’t get into this one. It may have been the format, I don’t know.
There was way to much of an "earth mother" bend to this book for me. I was primarily interested in the B&B experience but found that overshadowed by the goddess references.
I wanted to like this but couldn’t get interested I think it was more disappointment in layout/style
curb appeal which I’ve come to enjoy in the cookbook/essay genre. I did purchase one cookbook
this year that was beautiful generally the genre is full of delicious reDs and prose so must just be an
off time.
From the title I was thinking this would be a fun cookbook. Instead it is a view of a b&b stay instead. Good pics and details, but not what I expected.
A cute little story about the southern experience. I enjoyed the read, and definitely recommend it for Southeners, or those intending to travel or have fond memories of travels to the South. Thanks to NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review
I was sort of expecting a cookbook of Southern cooking. My bad. It was sort of a interesting tale of The Firefly B and B. Sort of an advertisement/journalk of the journey of the owners to turn their home into a B and B. Food is discussed. It's local, sometimes home grown. Mostly breakfast. I've never stayed at a B and B and likely won't ever. But it offered insight as to what to epect from running or staying at one.
"Goes Well With Grits" by Ellen Maxwell Cowan was the most FASCINATING and INFORMATIVE book I've ever read. It starts with the story of Bed & Breakfast through the history of pancakes, cereal, bacon, eggs, and especially Grits. I learned interesting facts about the intriguite making of a Bed & Breakfast and all the varity of breakfast options offered. I love my Grits with butter and cheese:) 🥞🌽
