Another endearing and fun adventure for Grumpy and his friends.
Going home for the Holidays to see his family is no easy task, but with the help of all his friends, Grumpy manages to buy a bus ticket and even arrange some gifts for his family, even though he learns that the best present he could have gifted his family was his presence.
You are always enough, especially when it comes to the holidays and the ones you love and that love you.
A lovely little book which features Grumpy the Iguana. Such a cute little story reminding up gift are not the most important part of the holidays. Enjoyable and the illustrations are wonderful!
Missing his family, Grumpy decides that the holidays are the perfect time to see them. With his friends pitching in to help, he finds the perfect gifts for his family and sets off to see them.
This is a simple story that I could see a number of children liking. The audio didn’t capture my attention (or the young child that was listening with me) and I can’t exactly put my finger on why it didn’t work for me.
But, I do see a number of kids enjoying this story.
Grumpy is missing his family, as it has been years since he has seen them. He decides that the holidays are the perfect opportunity to go and his friends both chip in to help. Mr. Squirrel helps Grumpy find the perfect gifts, while the Green Parrot buys the bus ticket. Will the trip home to the Florida Keys be everything that Grumpy dreams it will be?
Grumpy Goes Home For The Holidays is a simple story about the true meaning behind the holidays and is one that children will like. The audio version of the book is a little exaggerated for my tastes, with the overemphasizing many of the words and phrases. The production is cheapened somewhat by the narrator's zeal to present different voices. Overall, the story is straightforward and children will like Grumpy's adventure.
Disclaimer: I was given an Advanced Audio Copy of Grumpy Goes Home For The Holidays by NetGalley and the publisher. The decision to listen to and review this children's book was entirely my own.
I listened to the audiobook Grumpy Goes Home For The Holidays to see if it’s a book that my 7 year old Autistic son would listen to. Grumpy an Iguana who leaves his home to travel back to his childhood home in Florida Keys. Grumpy isn’t certain how to get home so he needs to rely on help getting there. So he asks his friend a green parrot and other friends help Grumpy in finding gifts for his family. It’s such a heartwarming Christmas story that demonstrates to children that by asking for help in getting home for the holidays doesn’t mean you can’t do something for yourself. A book I recommend for any child to read or to be read to; more so for children with autism or learning disabilities to learn that it’s fine to ask for help. #GrumpyGoesHomeForTheHoliday #NetGalley.
I received a complimentary copy of this audiobook book from ListenUp Audiobooks via NetGalley for my honest review of the book. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own thoughts, feelings and viewpoints of the book
Parents and guardians of young children will appreciate Grumpy’s cheerful approach to his friends and family. This is the kind of story pre schoolers need, with soft and warm behaviors modeled lovingly.
This is a quick and sweet read for the holidays! The narrator does a good job to bring animated and excited energy into the reading of this story!
*I received this book for free through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review*
A basic and cute kids book.
The lesson is clear: Christmas is about spending time with your family and gifts are a bonus. The audiobook was animated, clear, short, and easy to listen to. It is sure to keep the kids entertained for a moment!
This short but delightful audiobook really had me smiling. The narrator does some amusing voices that really enhance the story. So many tropical island elements are brought into the story, and the characters are sweet and charming. Grumpy the lizard is so excited to see his family for the holidays, and although his friends help him source some gifts for them, things go sideways and he learns the true meaning of the holidays! This would be a great listening station read in a classroom, as the narrator uses wonderful expression in his reading and it would really grab the students' attention! A sweet holiday story!
I love children’s books so much. Especially, the innocence and the joy that they have with their families. Grumpy is just a cutie pie who only wants to make his family happy by visiting the Florida Keys for the holidays. This wasn’t a Christmas story but it came right in time for the Holidays.
Mr. Squirrel 🐿 his friend helps him find some lovely things for his family. He has many animal friends and they all love ❤️ him. Grumpy lives in Miami and he has to take the gifts 🎁 home to his family.
His family is happy to see him and this was the sweetest. I love that the narrator of this had such a lovely voice filled with Whimsy.
Special thanks to NetGalley for this ARC. I am leaving a review voluntarily.
I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.
***AUDIO BOOK VERSION***
Grumpy Goes Home for the Holidays is another adorable addition to this lovely, heartwarming series for children.
Each of the books I have reviewed in this series so far has been on audio so I cannot comment on the pictures inside, but the covers are always sweet.
Grumpy decides he should go visit his family for the Christmas holidays. Mr Squirrel (Grumpys friend) helps him out with his gifts and Grumpy sets off on a long bus journey to visit his family. As always, it doesn't go quite to plan but love, family and friendship saves the day.
I love listening to these short stories - they are all always so heartwarming.
Grumpy Goes Home for The Holidays is a short, picturebook-length tale about an Iguana going to visit his family for the holidays and prioritizing family over gift-giving and receiving.
The first Grumpy story I have had a chance to read. Incredibly cute read and short, perfect for a bedtime story around the holidays about Grumpy that wants to surprise his family.
Thanks to NetGalley, the author and publisher, I was gifted this book in exchange for an honest review.
‘Grumpy goes home for the holidays’ is an extremely powerful book which focuses on sharing and caring. The author used Mr Grumpy beautifully to show how little things in life can truly make one happy. This story not only provided an insight on caring for your family but also reflects on sharing with friends to bring smiles. Therefore, this book is a perfect recipe for introducing the concepts of love and compassion to the kids.
A story about sacrifice, family, and about the gift of being together for the holidays. Cute characters and engaging narration.
The book demonstrates the love for family.. it really isn’t about the gifts it’s about being together. I was given this book in exchange for an honest review. I found this book to be quite charming. I will be recommending for sure…

"Was nice to hear. The story was good, I really liked the squirrel in the book. The narrator voice was funny and a little bit drammatic. I'd advise this book to children between the ages of 2 to 5. "

Super cute children’s book for the Christmas season. It’s short and sweet. I listened to it on audio and I think that for children’s books, that just doesn’t do them justice. My 6 year old still enjoyed listening, but I think he’d like the illustrated version better.
I liked the theme of family & love.
This is a cute Christmas book in a great series for children. Grumpy is wanting to go home to Key West for Christmas. Thanks to the help of his friends and their kindness he is able to make his wish come true. This is series teaches children about environment concerns and helping others. It’s a great way to start conversations. Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to review this book!
Cute little Children's book. Mynfirst Grumpy book. It was pretty basic though, nothing that makes it stand out or become a book to read over and over unless the illustrations are amazinf.
It is a good book to read to start a conversation with your children about being together during the holidays is more important than gifts.
Thank you #Netgalley for the audio version of #GrumpyGoesHomeForTheHoliday
