A lovely story of Grumpy who travels to visit his family for the holidays.
A cute little story will a little moral to the story. Would be perfect to listen along with a picture book of images. I did find the narrator a little slow but the beauty of audiobooks is you can choose your own listening speed.
Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to get an Arc
This was a really cute book for children!! I loved the narrator and the story. I loved the holiday storyline and about being with family!
Another great
book for Grumpy! I really love these entertaining little books that are fun and teach a lesson. Grumpy IS the best present his parent could receive.
3/5 Liked the other book better.
This review is for the audiobook edition of this book.
The other book I listened to by this author was much better in my opinion and it had a great lesson for kids to learn. I do really enjoy the narrator that this author chose to work with as their voice is very lively and easy to understand.
Disclaimer: I got access to an ARC audiobook edition of this from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Grumpy decides to surprise his family for Christmas, He is sad when he realizes that he has no gifts. Just then his friend gives him some things that he things Grumpys family will enjoy. His family enjoys seeing him. On Christmas Day Grumpy realizes that he lost the gift for his mom and sister. They told him that gifts were not important because they have each other. I think this is a great lesson for kids. Family and quality time with family is more important than material things. Cute little book.
Oh my kiddo loved this! Grumpy's homecoming experience was heartwarming & we loved his reunion with his family for Christmas. The narration is perfect for bed time listening & evokes vivid imagination, Me & my son have heard it many times now & can't wait for the next instalment of Grumpy, the green parrot & squirrel.
A cute Christmas story that my 6-year old enjoyed. She is an animal lover and prefers animal characters. The fact that my daughter usually can't sit still but sat through this eight-minute audiobook indicates how much it caught her attention, and she would probably like the picture book. I like that it mentioned different creatures. It is the first book we read in this iguana and parrot series. I'm not sure how big a part the parrot usually plays, but in this story, it barely comes out. It can be read or listened to as a standalone. Netgalley gave me an audiobook copy, but I was not required to provide a good review. I thought the narrator was fun and fitting for children's books.
My toddler (age 3) enjoyed this audio book. It was a quick book that help his attention. He enjoyed the amount of animals that were in it, as well as the holiday(christmas) that was mentioned
Grumpy decides it's time to visit his family for the holidays. With his friends helping him with gifts and getting a bus ticket, Grumpy is on his way. He's excited to give everyone his presents. But on Christmas Day he has a big disappointment and is sad and upset. Will Grumpy be able to enjoy Christmas with his family?
While listening to the audiobook my six-year-old daughter and I were able to read along with it as well on my kindle. My daughter enjoyed listening to the narrator and likes the storyline. She's enjoyed reading about Grumpy and friends from previous books.
Thank you Netgalley and ListenUp AudioBooks for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook.
We return to Miami and then the Florida Keys for Grumpy's trip home for the holidays. His friend, The Green Parrot, helps him buy a bus ticket home and his friend squirrel helps him with gifts for his family. Grumpy unfortunately loses most of the treasures along the way but finds his family doesn't care and that his presence is present enough. This one did not have the societal message or any of the earth-friendly pieces like the last two. It did have a return to the turtle rehab center in the Florida Keys.
I felt it was the most basic of the three I have listened to. HOWEVER my kids like it and want to include it in their regular audiobook rotation and that is the important piece for a children's audiobook.
Another cute and short Grumpy story about Christmas, family, love, and true gifts. Listening to the fourth beautiful story of Grumpy like always was delightful. This time Grumpy decided to go home for holiday and surprise them.
Thanks to NetGalley, I have given an honest review of Grumpy Goes Home For The Holidays (a Grumpy the Iguana and Green Parrot Adventure Book 4) by Susan Chapman and Narrated by Trevor Goble.
This is such a sweet book, it has excellent themes that you want your child to learn about. The importance of family time over gifts at Christmas, and how special time together can be. Thoughtfulness, Generosity, Kindness, I give it 5/5 stars. Narration was great, my 3yo asked to listen to it over and over.
Looking for a sunny Christmas? 🌞🎅🏼

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is a cute and short Christmas audiobook about the main character Grumpy, an iguana living in Miami. He prepares to visit his family in the Florida Keys. Grumpy’s animal friends help him with his preparations. The green parrot bought him a bus ticket. Mr. Squirrel gave Grumpy gifts to bring for his family.
I like the setting of the audiobook because it moves away from the whole romanticized “white Christmas” and shows that Christmas is just as great in warmer climates. I also like the realistic steps that a person would need to take when visiting their family.
A good moral that stood out to me is the importance of spending time with family over the holidays versus receiving gifts.
Description
Grumpy is going home for the Holidays and it is going to be a surprise. But wait!
How is he going to get there (Florida Keys) and what gifts will he bring his mom, dad and little sis. This is a wonderful holiday story full of surprises and emotions.

I Love this series of books, it’s part of ‘A Grumpy the Iguana and Green Parrot Adventure’. This is the third one I’ve listened to. This latest book, ‘Grumpy goes Home for the Holidays’ is Adorable.
This one Grumpy wants to go home for the holidays in the Florida Keys. He is unsure how he can make this happen. Luckily, he had his good friend, Green Parrot always willing to show kindness and help out. The book is excellent weaving this in as a way to act towards others.
Another theme that is always present is the importance of saving the environment. It is part of the story and gives excellent suggestions on how to use nature and resources in a great way.
So, this is an excellent book to read to young children. Also, would be good to have at pre-schools, libraries, and elementary schools. As an adult I love the series, but think most children definitely would, too. So, I highly recommend this sweet, but important book that has always has messages about helping, kindness, and saving the environment.
Thank you NetGalley, Susan Chapman, and ListenUp Audio books for a copy of this book.
Another thumbs up from me for this instalment of storytelling, with worthwhile messages about the important things in life, from the Grumpy series of audiobooks. I really enjoy the narrator’s voice too.
The book sort of undercut it's message of "sending time with family is the true gift" by having the Iguana find the lost gift at the last minute. That said, the love and helpfulness shown by family and friends is a good message. And I LOVED the narrator. Such a good choice for these books - warm voice and good use of character voices.
My favourite Grumpy is back, with a bit of a drama around the holidays.
It's so good to have friends who help you get home in time for Christmas, and even the problem of a gift is sorted out eventually. Friends, family, kindness - the Grumpy stories never let you down. And I still love Trevor Goble's narration!
Many thanks to NetGalley and IBPA, ListenUp Audiobooks for this ARC.
Grumpy Goes Home For The Holidays by Susan Chapman is a very cute Christmas story about families being together at Christmas.
