I’ve been wanting to experiment with resin for awhile now, but I was a bit intimidated by the rather complex process. This book was such a big help! The author very clearly and simply explains what resin is, what the different types are and their appropriate uses, recommended supplies, and the entire process. This book also gives detailed instructions on how to prep different add-in materials. So far I have made some jewelry and a small trinket tray, and I am thrilled with the results. The tips about minimizing bubbles and fixing imperfections was especially helpful, and I ended up having a lot of fun with the projects. I don’t know if an experienced resin artist would find this book particularly useful, but for the novice I highly recommend it. Resin isn’t easy to work with and it took me several attempts to get the hang of it, but I learned a lot by following the instructions and practicing.

This is a beautifully illustrated book with easy-to-follow instructions for different skill levels. Petvoka's book will inspire crafters who have been considering resin craft projects or those familiar with the material and maybe looking for new ideas. Regardless of skill level, all projects look doable, and not at all intimidating.

This is a pretty good book. Short and simple, but with all the information necessary so you can star making resin crafts. It has a ton of project suggestions and they all look simple enough for a beginner to follow. If this is something that interests you I really recommend this book.

I am an avid crafter and one craft I have always wanted to try is making resin jewelry but I have always been intimidated by it and I’ve never known where to start.
I feel like after reading this book I finally feel a little more comfortable with the idea of it. I’m a total perfectionist so I hate to try things unless I know I can do them well.
I definitely want to pick up a copy of this book once it publishes so that I have a reference for making these projects.

I have been wanting to try resin crafting for sometime. I’ve seen kits and supplies in stores and it looks so easy. After reading this book I’m not sure it so easy. That is not a criticism of the book instead it just shows how thorough the author’s instructions are for the projects. I really thought you pour the liquid resin in the mold, throw some dried flowers or glitter in and when it dries you have a nice piece of jewelry. This book provides clear detailed instructions that will result in quality items. I don’t think I would get the same results with my method. So, if you really want to do this right and not look like a 5 yr old did an arts & crafts project this is the book you need. Thank you to Net Galley for a opportunity to preview this book.

The formatting is a bit strange on the Kindle app and I see quite a lot of white boxes (I assume they are supposed to be pictures?) within the content section.

With that being said, the actual content of the book is fantastic for beginners. It informs the reader of the different types of resin and how to choose the correct type, tools needed and everything else you would never to know to make your own projects. There are even over 15 project instructions to get started on right away! The part I appreciate the most, however, is the section that explains how to gather and prepare additions such as flowers, shells and insects.

Slightly disappointed that there is not a section relating to safety whilst working with resin. The fumes can be toxic and cause allergic reaction, yet there is no warning of this and no advice offered to combat this. Nonetheless, it’s a very helpful book and will definitely be referring to it regularly as I continue introducing myself to resin.

Lately I've been on YouTube and Instagram more and more finding myself in video spirals watching people making resin crafts and it's honestly hypnotizing. It's an art form and a craft that I hadn't ever really thought of until this year but one that I just can't stop thinking about now. When I saw this title I'm not going to lie I downloaded it without thinking about it. And now that I've read this book, I think I might actually be able to work with resin one day. It's one thing to watch the videos and it's another thing to learn how it's done . I always thought it was so complex and detailed and this book made me think that maybe it's more durable than I gave myself credit for . who knows, maybe with the help of this book resin crafting will be in my future!!

DIY Resin Crafting Projects is an instruction guide with tutorials to resin crafting for beginners by Teodora Petkova. Due out 26th Apr 2022 from Fox Chapel, it's 104 pages and will be available in paperback format.

This is more than just a collection of pretty resin casting tutorials. The author spends a fair bit of of the intro showing how to choose and use resin along with the tools, supplies, and techniques for getting the best finishes. The tutorials (18 by my count) include decor items, jewelry, ornaments, keychains, and more. All of the items are really professional looking and beautiful. There are many which appealed to me, and I could imagine myself making.

Each of the tutorials includes tools and supplies in a highlighted text box, a pic of the finished project, and step by step tutorial photos with instructions. The detailed process photos are clear and easy to follow. Almost all of them take a very small amount of materials and would be great for a family weekend project (with an adult or responsible older kid to help). The author has included a one page index along with a list of supplies links suitable for materials sourcing.

There's so much good information here. The tutorials are upbeat and fun and the finished products are just beautiful. Definitely a good selection for the crafter's home library as well as for maker's groups and crafting studios when we're allowed to assemble together again.

Five stars.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

Thank you to NetGalley for an e-ARC of this title in exchange for my honest review. This book brought back a craft that I'd loved as a young teen years ago; bringing it up to a modern art. If you are looking for a new craft, something to do with your children or grandchildren, this book is exactly what you are looking for. Give it a try, it's a fun craft!

This is a great introduction to using resin, with clear photos of every step. The author has a very definite style, using flowers in the resin and, at first, I did think this would be a bit limiting. However, the projects turned out to be quite varied and I can see how they could be adapted to my own ideas. Not sure about the dead bugs though! Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for this arc.

Great inspiration for artists who have dabbled with resins or are curious to begin. The art in this book centres around nature objects- such as dried flowers, wood, stones, etc. It would be helpful to show how to add paints for the curious.
This book includes great instructions and tips for trouble-shooting.

If you love jewelry and crafts that have flowers and other items imbedded in them and want to learn how to make them yourself, this book is for you! If you’ve made resin crafts before, you may not be as invested, but you’ll still like the projects and the pictures that are included and maybe pick up a trick or two. Definitely a work of love and art.

I've never made resin crafts and I'm still a little afraid of all the chemicals involved, but this book had some really beautiful creations and the instructions were clear and easy to follow.

The resin craft projects in this book - 18 of them altogether - are so pretty! I have admired the look of colorful dried flowers in resin in all sorts of shapes such as coasters, earrings and paperweights for a while.

This guide is a great resource for beginners interested in picking up the skill. The basic information and detailed step-by-step instructions accompanied by clear and well-taken photographs are more than adequate. The author, Ms Teodora Petkova, is an experienced resin crafter who started experimenting with the medium more than 10 years ago. She opened her Etsy shop selling jewellery not long after.
